WEEK AHEAD WEATHER.

Posted Image

Monday, May 11, 2015, 11:00 GMT -
Whilst there will be a tantalising glimpse of summer for the start of the week in southern areas it’ll be cooler and fresher for all by the end.

Monday

A weather front across northern England and West Wales will weaken as it slowly moves across central and some southern areas introducing cloudier skies and the odd splash of rain. To the north of this cooler, fresher air with blustery showers will be the order of the day for Northern Ireland and Scotland. Top temperatures here will be around 13-16C. During the afternoon some of the showers could turn quite heavy and perhaps even thundery. For southern areas, especially the southeast, the brief glimpse of summer will continue with dry fine weather and temperatures reaching around 20-24C during the afternoon. Perhaps getting close to being the warmest day of the year so far when 25.1C was recorded at Faversham in Kent back in April.

Tuesday

Scotland and Northern Ireland will remain blustery with scattered showers. England and Wales will be cloudier with the chance of some showery rain moving across southern areas during the morning. Temperatures won’t be as high as on Monday but still around 16-19C in the south 11-14C in northern parts.

Wednesday

High pressure seems to win today with all parts having a dry day. It will be a chilly start though, with the chance of frost to kick start the day in rural parts of northern Britain. With light winds and where the sun appears it will feel quite pleasant with temperatures 8-14C in the north, 14-17C in the south.

Thursday

This is the day when the weather turns for southern areas where it will be the wettest day of the week. Low pressure to the west of the UK will move in readily bringing rain to England, Wales and Northern Ireland during the day. It should stay drier further north with much of Scotland staying dry throughout. Temperatures will be lower for all around 9-14C but in the wind and rain it will feel even cooler.

Friday

It will be a drier end to the week as any rain left in the southeast clears away but it will also be cooler with temperatures ranging form 9-15C, north to south. Wind and rain will start to spread back into northern and western areas during the second half of the day.

The weekend

At this stage it looks like we’ll be back to the old battle of low pressure to the north and high to the south. So wind and rain in store for northern areas and drier, brighter and warmer conditions further south.
