Summer Weather On the Horizon By Matt Hugo - May 26, 2015.![]() So, May is nearly at an end and compared with April it has been a particularly poor month with below average temperatures and wetter than average conditions too. It’s almost like the weather got the two months mixed up with May’s weather more like what should have been experienced in April and vice versa. However, changes are on the horizon. As we highlighted within our Long Range Forecast earlier today a change in the weather is now expected as we move into early June. The majority if not all of the weather models are indicating a change to far more settled conditions as high pressure becomes located over the UK and potentially to the east and north-east as well creating what is known as a ‘blocking pattern’. This will stop low pressure systems and unsettled conditions from moving into the UK off the Atlantic and bring about a far more sustained period of fine and settled conditions. Now clearly there are some uncertainties over the details because we are looking at the change arriving through the opening week of June, but at the moment far more summer-like conditions are certainly possible with spells of warm sunshine and light winds and perhaps with temperatures becoming very warm depending on the wind direction when the change in weather arrives. The GFS model highlights the expected weather pattern at the moment for around the 4th of June and as we’ve highlighted high pressure is situated over the UK and hence highlights the current expected change to conditions far more typical for the time of year… ![]() So, if you’re after a change to warmer, drier and generally far more summery conditions then there is some ‘light at the end of the tunnel’. Before then though we must stress that the weather will remain cool and unsettled throughout the rest of May and this is something we have clearly highlighted within the Long Range Forecast too, so don’t expect a rapid change to far better conditions as yet, but we are reasonably confident of the change in the weather as we move into early June. As usual we’ll keep you updated with the latest information in the coming days and weeks… Chief Forecaster: MH Link ............... http://www.ukweatherforecast.co.uk/summer-weather-on-the-horizon/#sthash.ou551W0x.dpuf Source ............
