Debris from the crash-landing

A Spanish woman who had never flown before was forced to crash-land a plane after her pilot husband lost consciousness during the flight.

Air traffic controllers in Seville talked her through emergency landing procedure from 3,000m (10,000ft).

The small light aircraft landed 3km (2 miles) short of Seville airport's runway in an orange grove.

The women is recovering from serious injuries in hospital but her husband has since died.

It was not clear whether he died before or after the accident.

Spain's aircraft controllers union have said that she was fortunate that the controller on duty knew how to fly the plane.

A helicopter was also dispatched to help guide her in.

Seville's airport was closed for two hours during the incident.
