Look Ahead - Tuesday's update from ![]() >> Simon's Weather Musings << Are we seeing the future? Well, the next few weeks anyway? By Simon Keeling in Wombourne, Staffs 09:00hrs 22/5/12 Temperature: 12.7C Weather: Sunny & warm Just wanted to show you the 500mb anomaly chart for the weekend, this one valid midday on Saturday. Look at the positive (red)height anomaly over the UK at the weekend, and that area of lower heights (colder air) to the south. See how that pool gives the impression of being squeezed into central Europe, which is where I think it will be ending up. Now the reason I have shown you this chart is that this is the way I think things may well be shaping up over the coming few weeks. That brings higher pressure north of the UK, lower pressure to the south. It could push some showers into the far south of England on Suday, the main feature though being the stronger wind. I suspect that is the pattern we then see, but what we have to watch for is a low developing over France, and then that cold pool drifting northwards. That would leave us with high pressure tantilisingly close to us to the north, but leave most of the UK wet, cool and unsettled. Firming up on these ideas now, more in the video. ![]() Video link ................. http://youtu.be/soqHZA4t78Y |
