Week ahead - September 02, 2012 from http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/ Fluctuating temperatures Dry south Issued: 0900hrs Sunday 2nd September 2012 Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling High pressure is close by through the coming week. It builds into the country from time to time bringing some fair days. It could also become warm too. However, fronts will be slipping into northern areas bringing cloud and stronger winds, with cooler weather edging south on a few days. For the weather for the next few days click here ......... http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/reports?LANG=en&MENU=202&DAY=20120901 Wednesday 5/9/12 An area of high pressure is expected to become centred over Ireland by midday on Wednesday. This is going to be bringing much fine weather with good spells of sunshine to most of the UK and Ireland. A misty and chill start to the day over Wales, central and northern England. There could be some residual cloud in the far southeast at first, but this will be clearing. Cloud also affecting the far north of Scotland with some drizzle at first here. Highs near a 15C in northern Scotland and a cooler 21C in southern England. Thursday 6/9/12 A windy day across Scotland and Ireland on Thursday with the winds reaching gale force on coasts. Cloud and rain affecting these areas too, most of it in the west where it should be heavy. For most of England and Wales the day stays dry and bright with good spells of sunshine, although cloud will increase in northern England and over west Wales later. Highs at 14 to 21C. Friday 7/9/12 An area of high pressure builds back to the west of Ireland on Friday. A front will be over southern Ireland, Wales and England through Friday bringing some outbreaks of rain here. Drier and brighter across northern England and Scotland with lots of sunshine. Highs at 24C in the far south, 12C in northern Scotland. Saturday 8/9/12 An area of low pressure may pass closer to northern Scotland on Saturday. This may bring breezier conditions here with cloud and periods of rain, these affecting Ireland too. Rather cloudy with some drizzle in northwest England and Wales. Dry in the east and south with sunny spells. Highs at 14 to 21C. Sunday 9/9/12 A cloudier day seems to be on the cards for Sunday as a front extends across Ireland, Wales and southern England. There is likely to be some drizzle or light rain at times in the west and south. More eastern and northern areas will be brighter with sunny spells. Tops near 16 to 22C. Monday 10/9/12 Showers are likely through Scotland and Ireland on Monday with the threat of some thicker cloud and rain in the north and west. Drier to the south and east with sunny spells here. Highs around 16 to 22C. |

Weather forecast: UK from Headline: Rather cloudy across the south and far north. Brighter elsewhere. Today: Rather cloudy with a little rain or drizzle at times across parts of the south. Elsewhere drier with spells of sunshine developing but further cloud and rain spreading into the north of Scotland later in the day. Tonight: Further rain at times across northern Scotland. Otherwise largely dry with clear spells, but some mist, low cloud and light drizzle forming in some western and southern parts. Monday: Largely dry and fine for most with any mist and low cloud gradually clearing during the morning. Northern Scotland and Northern Ireland turning increasingly wet and windy throughout the day. Updated: 0251 on Sun 2 Sep 2012 Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday: Outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving southeastwards during Tuesday. Dry with sunny spells across England and Wales from Wednesday, but further rain at times accompanied by strong winds elsewhere. Updated: 0251 on Sun 2 Sep 2012 UK Outlook for Friday 7 Sep 2012 to Sunday 16 Sep 2012: At the start of the period, England and Wales should be largely dry with warm sunny spells and mainly light winds. Often chilly nights though, with mist or patchy fog giving a rather autumnal feel to some of the early mornings. Scotland and Northern Ireland generally cloudier with rain at times, but also some drier, brighter periods, particularly to the east of high ground. Generally breezy here, with strong winds at times and temperatures around normal. As we move towards the latter part of this period, the north-south split in the weather described above looks likely to become more of a west-east division, with western, and especially northwestern, parts rather unsettled, while eastern Britain sees the best of the sunshine. Temperatures still generally somewhat warmer than average. Updated: 1206 on Sun 2 Sep 2012 UK Outlook for Monday 17 Sep 2012 to Monday 1 Oct 2012: Indications are that this period will be characterised by some fairly typical weather for the time of year, with low pressure systems steered mainly towards the north and west of the UK. These are likely to bring the heaviest and most persistent rain to northwestern parts of the UK, where it could also be windy at times. Southern and eastern areas seeing the best of any drier and brighter conditions. Temperatures are likely to be close to average, with some warm days possible across southeastern parts, but also some cool spells towards the north and west in wind and rain. Updated: 1206 on Sun 2 Sep 2012 |
