1850 Necron/Grey Knights Tournament Idea; A new list I'm considering for Tournaments.

So, I've been thinking a lot about some of the top lists around the tournament scene and am wondering about trying out something slightly different with my Tournament Necrons.

Here's the new list I've drafted but haven't fully worked through:

HQ:
Imotek
Zahndrekh

Troops:
3x 5 Warriors in Night Scythes

Fast Attack:
5 Destroyers

Heavy Support:
3x Annihilation Barges (Tesla)

Grey Knight Allies:
HQ:
Coteaz

Elite:
Vindicare Assassin

Troops:
Henchment (3 Jokaero Weaponsmiths)

Fortifications:
Imperial Bunker (Ammo Store, Void Shield)
- Comms Relay


This is not a finalized list with Imotekh and Zahndrekh being on their own a chief concern. In addition, it relies on Stronghold Assault's Imperial Bunker and upgrade rules to be allowed which is another interesting caveat; however, the Bastion could take its place if needed.

Rationale:
Coteaz + Imotekh will be used to steal the initiative. Gimmicky but it is what it is. Coteaz is more important than Imotekh here though due to cheaper allied troops.

Vindicare Assassin to address 2++ saves and kill any model with a T4 or lower. Will be deployed IN the bunker for extra protection and being able to reroll 1's (though may not be required with is BS8).

Weaponsmiths for lascannon shots and to buff Coteaz who will be joining the unit on the bunker's battlements (4+ cover - counts as ruins)

Zahndrekh is in there to buff Necron units and to debuff the enemy (specifically hit and run). I love Zahndrekh but not certain he's worthwhile here.

I chose Destroyers over Wraiths simply for Preferred Enemy and AP3. I opted for shooting range over close combat power.



I am not sold on Imotekh nor Zahndrekh in this list. Zahndrekh allows for redundancy with the Vindicare assassin against O'Vesa-star and SeerCouncil lists. Imotekh is in there practically for stealing the initiative and that's all. His night fighting ability will negatively affect the assassin and the weaponsmiths (however not the assassin's shieldbreaker effect thankfully). I'm considering dropping Zahndrekh for a D-Lord or just a RC unit. I've also considered dropping both and putting Anrakyr onto a CCB and adding more weaponsmiths.

What do you guys think?

Nice idea though
The assasin is nasty.

Immothek will be able to hit your own GK though if you stick with him.
.... not that the storm ever did anything for me though

Ok. Made some updates concerning the Necron HQ selections.


HQ:
Destroyer Lord (Scythe, MSS, RO, Weave)
Overlord (Scythe, MSS)
- Catacomb Command Barge (Gauss)

Troops:
3x 5 Warriors in Night Scythes

Fast Attack:
5 Destroyers

So went with a D-Lord to babysit the Destroyers as well as an Overlord on a Command Barge. I had 35pts left over after those changes so I went added a 4th Weaponsmith.

I was thinking about Anrakyr to help address vehicles; however, I have a feeling that the Overlord on command barge will be enough. I had a hard time putting both Anrakyr on CCB and a D-Lord into the list which is also why I went to a generic overlord. I will probably have the Overlord be my warlord and run with a Personal Trait since he's on his own doing his thing.


Looking into the future - I don't know how viable the list is. With Codex:Inquisition, Necrons are no longer allies of convenience (we're come the apoc) and thus I'm curious to see what happens when the Grey Knights book is rewritten in the near year or so. Until then; however, I'll be curious to see how this plays out. I also posted on Dakka trying to see if I'm missing something when I look at the Vindicare Assassin. He's such an awesome model for breaking apart some of the main deathstars and would help to neuter Wraithwing if I find myself going up against such.

Any other thoughts or feedback?
