problem I forsee is you got nowhere to hide the ctan... so Hq and warriors can be ignored and all will go vs the ctan. He can take a beating but only so much. Not sure if you can be fast enough to dish out the needed fireworks |

You would be utterly obliterated if someone turns up with 2 Imperial knight Paladins, If you get first turn you can move up and shoot thy, maybe if you're really lucky take 1 out and then the other can shoot the warriors with the big gun and then 1 assault & easily kill the C'tan in its turn unless you hide it right on your board edge, in which case it will smash all your troops and Zandrekh. and then go for the C'tan. If they go first they will shoot your warriors and Zandrekh to pieces while moving up and then on their second turn will assault you. The C'tan is a massive point sink that I just don't see as worth anything like the points it costs. |

To be fair it has 4+ FNP and the 4++ invuln so getting wounds to stick on it will be quite difficult, especially if the ranged abilities are focuses upon. I'd still prefer to take 1000pts without the LOW and pick up the bonus objectives. 1VP for every wound or HP caused at game end? That's pretty big. M0Dark is right about the Knights though. They dont take up any current Force Org and are scoring units in an IK army. Nor will they grant you extra objectives. The amount of firepower you can put on the table at 1000pts leads me to believe I'd go without the LoW. |

I've decided on a running a different list. The C'tan is too unreliable at lower point values and only seems to start coming into his own at 1500 + points (though he will be nasty in the 1k point doubles tourney in April as he will have an extra 1k points backing him up in the form of a partner. |

I wasn't thinking of the Knights actually effectively shooting the C'tan, just assaulting it. The Destroyer Chain sword removes all saves and if it hits on a 2+ does D3+1 wounds per hit, D6+6 on a 6. Each one has 3 Attacks base. If I was taking any Necron S-Heavy it would be the FW Pylon, the 120" 3 shot D-weapon will put plenty of hurt on anything at 1000 pts. But I would just take a regular force and hope not to have to use or face too much D stuff as it is so broken. Edited by M0Dark, Mar 7 2014, 10:47 AM.

With that 18" teleport ability the C'Tan has, it should never be in range to be assaulted technically. If things do get too close you can draw a Str D line across them before they get a swing of anything useful. I'd need to check but as it is not directly a shooting attack from the C'Tan, it would be resolved against the side armour of a vehicle? If so, you have a 50/50 chance that the Knight chooses the wrong facing to defend with the shield. Knights wont deal with D weapons well at all, they are quite squishy when not facing the front/shielded side. |

That 18" move and D weapon is 1 thing. You move 18" and anything moved over is hit with S-D, but that is an extra load of points and not what the OP was suggesting, but I agree that Knights will be squishy against D weapons just not particularly any of the C'tan ones as by the time it has the 2 required to Probably kill 1 knight before the knight kills it, it costs almost the same points as 2 knights and needs to be close enough to them to be CC'd and then destroyed if it doesn't eliminate them first, which for 2 in one turn is very unlikely. D-weapons ignore AV's and shields (except Eldar holo) so wouldn't matter what facing is hit but once you move 18" over a model with an 6.75" x 4.5" base being 1" clear of it you will be well within its 12" move never mind the 2-12" charge on top of this. I'm not saying they are the best thing ever, just better than most (all GW Necron) superheavies. Edited by M0Dark, Mar 7 2014, 06:52 PM.

Best necron awnser for super heavy is imo stormtek voltic staff. Haywire the crap out of everything. Got a tournee comming up and the first that allows LoW. 8 teks spread over 4 arcs will be my core. The rest will focus on stuff without hp. The ctan in a game below 1850 is not my thing. |

Well, I am going to run him in the 1k doubles tourney but only because I will have 1k backing me up from my partner. |

Yep totally agree with this. My plan for our local 800 & 1200 points is whenever they start appearing my Veiltek & 4 stormteks will munch through superheavies like paper, alternatively warriors are actually pretty good against them. Edited by M0Dark, Mar 10 2014, 11:41 PM.
