Hey there, I was thinking we could discuss the loadout of a perfect "royal bomb" What I call "royal bomb" is a royal court teleporting into enemy rows, shooting everything to bits. A bit like a swiss knife that can handle tanks, but can also handle other unit types. Obviously, it is posible to make a "super royal court" that costs nearly all your points, but that is not the idea. The idea is more getting a point-efficient swiss knife (maybe several of em) that is usuable as a module you can stick into every army. (it just occupies one HQ slot) The royal bomb did get quite a boost as its now scoring. A few things to take into account: 1: We need an overlord to open up the court, so unless you've got other great use for the overlord in your army, it would be nice to include it in the royal bomb (more wounds) 2: Dont forget about majority toughness. It would always be nice to have at least as many lords as crypteks (T5) 3: The bigger the court the bigger the chance of mishap 4: I think resorb would be nice due to everliving (the royal court will get up at least once with half its strength) Here my first attempt. However it is open to discussion! OL with phase shifter, Weave, MSS, Orb lord with weave lord with weave lord with weave Despairtec with Veil and shroud Stormtec Stormtec Timetec with cronometrum All together: About 500 points. You would get 12 shots staff of light, 8 shots haywire, 1 template (maybe not usuable first turn, use shroud) My doubts: Phase shifter or not phase shifter? Weave on all lords or not weave on all lords? 2 Stormtecs or 1 stormtec? (problem with one is that its unlikely to strip of 3HP in one shooting turn with just one) Timetec or no Timetec (I like him because of the cronometrum: Rerolls on the mishap table and rerolls on saves) |

To your Royal Bomb I would add a Destroyer Lord. Preferred Enemy (Everything!) is a great rule to share round. Personally I think a court of Lords are better employed as CC. For a double Foc 3k list, my Royal Court was: Zandrehk, an Overlord, a Destroyer Lord, 5 Lords. All decked out in MSS, PS, SW, WS with a Res Orb. Zandrehk cast Furious Charge on them each turn. Turn 3: they rolled over without loss 30 Death Company, with a terminator chaplain. Turn 4: they rolled over 10 CC terminators, a termie chaplain, Lemartes, and a Librarian. Turn 5: they rolled over Mephiston, 10 honour guard, 10 assault marines with Commander Dante, along with banner masters, chapter masters, captains (I don't really know what they were TBH). Without loss. I find giving a staff of light to a lord is like giving paintball guns to soldiers. |

Haha I did never think of it that way. Well the idea of staff of light is that its a great weapon on short distance, and that you can use if after arriving via deep strike, giving you the alpha strike. Your loadout seems to be incredible expensive. (125 points/lord!). So its not really fair to compare a 50 points/weave/staff of light lord with your superboosted-steroid-troopers! I am however pretty darn impressed with their achievements (I think mostly due to multiple MSS). I would have added a crontec in your unit, cause its few points and adds synergy. I'm currently thinking if a unit compared to you (but without phase shifters, seems to expensive) could be worth it...80 points/lord is much but managable. Tell me, how did you deliver your unit? (no teleport in there) However, delivering via GA might be posible! The main problem I see with your loadout is that it IS a huge bunch of points (I usually play under 2k).. |

Guys i thought i have a choice of using full court without anyone else or adding 1 model to a unit. Do you mean i can add full court to OL? And then add DesL? |

It's more like attaching the Overlord and Destroyer Lord to the court. You keep the full court without splitting it, and the Overlord and DLord can then join it since they are Independent Characters |

OLJ, I see what you mean - yes, they are very expensive! In terms of delivery I didn't need to do too much. Blood Angels are only good in close combat so I knew he'd be rushing assault marines and terminators into my lines. I let them come onto to me, hitting them with guass fire as they came, and once they charged my troops I hit them back with wraiths and my super court of death. The best battle was a single haywire tek vs a gunship, 30 death company and a death company dreadnought. After being "killed" by the death company, the cryptek passed RP and dispatched the dreadnought. He was butchered by the death company again, got back up and shot the gunship to pieces. In fact he passed 4 RP rolls during the game. By that point, the death company had wasted two turns not killing a single character, and were then slaughtered by my royal court. |

Jaja what a lucky Cryptek! the chance to pass 4 times in a row RP without orb is 1/3*1/3*1/3*1/3 = 1/81...like 1.2%. I understand that BLood angels come towards you...however in the lists I make i usually wanna be able to fight all fractions...if you fight against Tau or IG you need some delivery (in a 3000 pts game, Guard and Tau have a LOT of firepower and might blast away your super-court before it gets to em footslogging). However I have to say, you inspired me. Tomorrow (I think) I'm gonna post some cheese thats pretty much based on your idea...stay tuned ;) To get back to the original topic: Anyone comments to the questions? Phase shifer or no phase shifer in my inicial module? how many lords? 2 stormtecs?? |
