This is for my game this week vs in our FLGS narrative escalation league. -1250 points per side -I'll be playing against Tau -Dawn of war deployment with D6+2 pieces of terrain -4 tactical objectives with a central objective of a burned out vehicle which is worth 1 point for every turn you end in control of it. -Every turn there is a 1 in 3 chance that all firing will be snap shots due to an ongoing earthquake in the unstable area. My 1250pt list: Mephrit Dynasty Cohort: + HQ+ Cryptek [Mindshackle Scarabs , Staff of Light, The God Shackle] + Elites+ C'tan Shard of the Nightbringer + Troops+ 5x Immortal [5x Gauss Blaster] 5x Immortal [5x Gauss Blaster] 5x Immortal [5x Tesla Carbine] + Formations+ Canoptek Harvest number 1 Canoptek Scarabs [3x Canoptek Scarab] Canoptek Spyder [1x Canoptek Spyder] TL Particle Beamer Canoptek Wraiths [5x Canoptek Wraiths] All with coils Canoptek Harvest number 2 Canoptek Scarabs [3x Canoptek Scarab] Canoptek Spyder [1x Canoptek Spyder] TL Particle Beamer Canoptek Wraiths [5x Canoptek Wraiths] All with coils I figure this will give me a lot of melee to get up in Tau's faces with while trying to keep the immortals planted on objectives and scoring points for me. Thanks in advance for all the advice and help :) Also a clarification... Do the Canoptek Harvest formations fall under the umbrella of their parent detachment (Mephrit Dynasty Cohort) and if so, do they benefit from the ability to reroll 1s on RP attempts? The MCD only reroll 1's for RP to troops...not the entire army. Regardless, no, Formations are counted as their own form of detachment and are separate. As far as the list, within the context of the mission rules, I think you're trying to wipe your opponent instead of playing the mission. Based on what you have posted in terms of the scenario rules, I can't see how you would win the mission with your list as 1250pts of CAD Tau would easily be able to shoot your 15 Walking Immortals. The Wraiths ARE a greater threat; however, at the end of the game, the Tau player would just need to move a Devil Fish to the objectives and win through Objective Secure. With your list here, I would run a CAD with 2x10 Warriors in Ghost Arks. This would give you 4 ObjSec troops that would output about as much if not more firepower than the Tau player can. Running Warriors in Arks instead of the C'tan and the 15 Immortals would free up 25pts to put towards your HQ. I would be very tempted to drop 1 Wraith from one of the formation in order to get a CCB in order to help be an annoyance to the army. Alternatively, take your Cryptek bare and keep it hidden (preferably close to an objective for late game grab) and then bring in a single Heavy Destroyer for range, firepower, and mobility. Also - Heavy Destroyers are great at taking out Crisis Suits. Edited by Unholyllama, Mar 24 2015, 05:06 PM.

Thanks for the input and advice :) I was trying to avoide shooting as much as possible due to the possibility of having to fire snap shots. :\ The 2 ghost arks would be a whole lot of points tied up into something that may not hit very much. Unfortunately I don't have any destroyers finished and ready to play, otherwise I'd agree with that as well. I'm definitely working on getting some though :) |

While snap shooting will affect the ghost arks and warriors, the main thing I wanted to focus on was to combat Tau's objective secure nature (since they have no options beyond a CAD) and protecting your troops from the S5 shooting from Fire warriors. 15 immortals on the ground won't last long even with the awesomeness that is RP now. I wanted to make sure you had resilience and something they can't steal objectives from. Mind you, I still kep the Canoptek harvest formations in. At 1250, one is amazing, 2 will be brutal against just about any opponent. |

I forgot to mention that templated weapons are still allowed, but drift the full amount on the dice with no reduction for BS.... if that changes any opinions. |

No changes on my recommendations. But if I was a Tau player, I'd probably take a Riptide knowing blast markers aren't affected by the snap shooting. |

ICs can't join monstrous creatures, so the Spider would be out. He would hamstring the scarabs and wraiths so be careful with that. If you plant a blob of scarabs (built by a spider during the game) and bubble wrap an objective in your back field with them to deny last turn objective rushes (have to make sure they deny the 3" to the objective) you could plant the overlord on the objective itself to hold it. It just seems like your overlord sticks out like a sore thumb in this list. On that note as well, it may pay to get your spiders and scarabs to the burnt out vehicle and camp them there all game to try to wrack up points. use the wraiths to intercept incoming tau. you can also drop a unit of warriors off on an out of the way objective and use two ghost arks to repair the remaining warrior unit on a more aggressive mission to deny the tau an objective. I have a feeling he will likely stay at max range and kite you though. You could also potentially drop one ghost ark and increase the warrior squad size (or go back to your immortals) and join your overlord to the unit with a veil to blink them somewhere juicy. Only problem there is I really like ghost arks, and 2 of them at 1250 points will create a mess for your opponent. Canoptek harvest A is going to be a real pain for him though lol. it's one of those things that you can't ignore killing, is going to take a substantial amount of firepower to kill off, and will buy a lot of time for the rest of your army. I wouldn't worry too much about the snap fire earthquakes. Every time it effects you it will effect him, and we already know he is banking on his shooting :) |

Having seen some of the Canoptek Harvests in place, the Spyder DOES lag behind but provides some necessary protection for the rest of the units in the formation until they can engage the opponent. If anything, it works out well in an objective based mission since the Spyder can go squat on an objective while the Wraiths and Scarabs eat/tarpit things. |

I adjusted the number of Scarabs and Wraiths, added Fabricator Claws to the Spyders, and Swapped my overlord for a CCB. Edited list is in my previous comment. |

list seems good this way! Why dont you add a gauntlet of fire to the CCB considering that you cant do anything else with that 11 points you still have to spend? (and a flamer is better than no flamer :D) |

I'm not a fan of Fabricator Claws personally. Then again my Arks either blow up or are untouched usually. They rarely are in between. As for a GoF on the CCB - I need to reread the chariot rules in the BRB. If the Rider is treated as a passenger in a transport with regards to shooting, you will only be able to shoot with the GoF if you move up to 6" or during overwatch. Not bad for defense but you won't be able to use it if you move over 6". I don't have my BRB on me though so I could be wrong here. Either way - it's not a bad idea at all with the points you have left over. |

The rider of the charior can shoot any shooting weapon he himself is equipped with, counting as stationary even if the Chariot moved in the previous movement phase (has to shoot the same unit as the chariot does though) I didn't directly quote it, but its on the BRB p86: Shooting with Chariots |
