So, I finally have made the first big step towards starting, and finishing, my new necron force. I have fairly well and settled on having a Destroyer Cult, so I'm focusing on getting those together, because I don't plan on changing that aspect of the force up. In light of that, I have pretty much finished the modeling aspect of this D-Lord; He might need a little green stuff gap coverage, but the major parts are done. Observe: I got him in this state, in a used Necron army lot. I am really not sure if this guy is a normal D-Lord model or if this was something they converted up, but I think it's the normal D-Lord kit they use to have. Notice his sweet quarter-back stance with the Res-Orb, I bet he scores a ton. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bl219gbxchm59fl/20150412_185527.jpg?dl=0 I did a little bit of work on the weapon, I'm not sure if there is a normal "cap" to the tip of the blade, but I didn't have it so I just clipped this orb-looking thingy onto the end. It looks fairly decent for a little bladed weapon, maybe even works for light staff, I could see that orb (Which is the "Shooty" end of another model's projectile weapon) projecting arcs or bolts of energy so it works. https://www.dropbox.com/s/lhpwwuvmcef0hn4/20150412_185615.jpg?dl=0 Then there is the better part. You know how Necrons have that whole Reanimation Protocols thing? Well I imagine it has to look like something when their body is constantly being blown to hell and back. The tentacle-y appendage is the old wraiths connection to the base (Remember these :wraith: ?), they always were so easy to break off their base, but this is a neat re-purpose I think. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7y0i0smxh3bgsqy/20150412_185648.jpg?dl=0 I didn't take a picture of the base, but his old arm is laying on the ground smoldering, and the other half of the staff's haft. I really hate the weapons they gave the Necrons, they are very flimsy and hold themselves up poorly, as far as the actual model goes. Here's a picture of all the bits from the front. https://www.dropbox.com/s/emo6y2cqqzoc67b/20150412_185718.jpg?dl=0 So yeah, I just got a little bit more to get together for him before I can spray paint, but I'll probably up date this when I get the thing painted up a bit. I have a much more elaborate idea for another Destroyer Lord with Res-Orb that is far more active and over the top, but considering that I need this army done in 1.5 month, I am just looking to get this out of the way for now. Besides it's still a fair bit more unique than a generic lord. For the Destroyers, the biggest thing is going to end up being the basing/posing, that will make them all that unique rather than a brick of carbon copies. EDIT: Not sure why the Image function didn't work with the drop box links, but I changed it to URL for now, if anyone has advice I'd love to hear. Is it just Dropbox not wanting to host images onto other sites? Edited by Treelamp, Apr 13 2015, 12:17 AM.

I agree. Some necron weapons could look better. On the model. I like where this is going. Cool concept... The repairing arm does the trick for me. You seem to be doing rather nice. Treat us with painted pics! |
