Help Needed for 500 Point List; 500 point list

Hello, I'm going to start playing Necrons in a slow grow league, starting at 500 points and increasing by 250 point increments up until 2000 points. No unbound.
The other players are fielding Tyranids, new codex Eldar, Deamonkin and Death Corp of Kreig.
I'm having problems at 500 as I've never played Necrons before and don't quite know how they work on in practice.
I was thinking possibly:

HQ: Cryptek, God Shackle and Solar Staff.
Elite: C'tan Nightbringer.
Troops: 5 Immortals, 5 Immortals, both units with Gauss Blasters.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Barring your knowledge of your local 40K gaming meta, and of the new Codex, I recommend that you build an Army List first. How big will your Necrons Army List be when you're done ?

Your list (above) looks like you want to go CAD. Do you want a Decurion Detachment instead ?

I recommend that you leave the Nightbringer at home until the Army is at a bigger point value, say 1500-2000 points. You don't have enough firepower in your current list to make up / counter when the Nightbringer gets shot to bits. and he will...cause he's slow ! Until then, I further recommend that you spend that 240 points on some Warrior squads, or Tomb Blade Squads. You can have a 10-man Warrior Squad in a Ghost Ark for that cost, with small change to spare. 2x 10-man Warrior Squads for 20 points more. Or you can get 2x 5-man Tomb Blade Squads (with Particle Beamers, 'Scopes and 'Shields) for an even swap for that Nightbringer.

God shackle requires mephrit. Mephrit requires 3 troops.

That's a good point, I would be a good idea to draw overall design (general idea*) of the step by step armies or you risk painting yourself in a corner later on. That's what happen to me in such an escalation campaign, (with the old codex).

for example, If you want to eventually to field a decurion later on, you could start with a barebone reclamation legion (479 points with a naked overlord & 3 stock tomb blades). But then, with a given 250 points increase, you could add stuff within the Legion or add the smaller auxiliaries but you will not be able to directly add any of the high-cost formations.

*That general idea will likely change however, as you will probably have to react to the opponents' lists; as they will too

Hi,
I thought that you couldn't field a Decurion at 500 due to the compulsory auxillaty choice?

In view of Sparky's comment I have re-thought the list.( I don't have any models as yet so still flexible as to lists).

HQ: Cryptek + Veil of Darkness.

Troops: 10 Warriors in an Ark, 5 Gauss Immortals.

Fast Attack: 4 Tomb Blades with scopes and veins.

As far as my meta is concerned it's a fixed group so will only be Nids, Deamonkin, Death Corp and Eldar.

Thanks for the feedback.

That is entirely correct.
But you can field a Reclamation legion formation by itself and remain bound. You just don't have the decurion benefit just yet in that list. You can add auxiliairies or build up the legion later on

One other way to be able to add of costly formations would be to start with a CAD. 1 HQ, 2 troops, tomb blades in fast and some other units like stalker, pretorians, spyders in their respective slots (elite or heavy support) . If it is allowed to change structure in your campaign, you can later add what is needed using the +250 points increment to add one more troop and regroup some new and original units in formations and turn it into a decurion
