Last week I primed a batch of plastic models in preparation for painting however the base coat dried with wrinkles and bubbles. It would ruin the look of my models so I'd like to strip the paint off and try again but everything I've read about stripping says it will either melt the plastic model, destroy the plastic glue, remove the super glue, melt the green stuff, or some combination of them all. So I was wondering what should I use to strip the paint off plastic models that will leave the plastic glue, green stuff, and model unharmed? Any advice would be appreciated along with the process so I dont damage my models. Thanks for the help guys! |

This is the stuff I use. http://www.homedepot.com/p/ZEP-128-oz-Industrial-Purple-Degreaser-ZU0856128/100047759 I have left models in this stuff for weeks at a time and the worst it does is dissolve the glue joints. If you only leave them in for a day or so, will not damage the glue. The longer it stay in, the easier it comes off. After a day I still need a toothbrush to strip the paint. After about three days, the paint mostly just falls off. If you don't mind re-gluing some pieces, this is the stuff to use. |

Ok so I have a heavily converted plastic model. Almost everything on it is glued, joints, armor, head, fingers, everything. How will it affect that find of model? And does it affect green stuff? |

I would only leave it in for a day or maybe two. I have only ever noticed my glue joints coming apart after I leave them in for several days. I would try 12 hrs first and see. If its not long enough, put them back in for another 12. Also, I have no experience with this and chemical vs finecast so I cant say how it will effect finecast if you have any. |

Thanks Dawnstrider, I just have one more question for you. How does it affect green stuff? Will it melt or soften, or eat it? If anyone else has advice on what to use Id appreciate it! |
