So, let us begin the first OOC thread of the first RP thread to grace these eternal boards of awesome!

SG-TG takes place on a hive-turned-death world which once counted itself part of the Imperium. For now it is unknown how, why, or when, and for the most part nobody cares. As illustrated, the two armies will be ork and necron, and people are welcome to RP members of either race, with legions of soldiers ample enough that the details are non-sequential. To join, I would like to ask each person provide a filled out version of the 'profile' presented below, I know I will. As implied, more then one dynasty have staked a mutual interest in this planet(though deception and betrayal are all well and welcome), so go nuts! And same goes for the orks, if anyone cares to RP as the green tide's leadership.

Name:
Dynasty:
Rank:
Unit Archtype:
Wargear:

And now for my own profile~

Name: Varguard Syramis
Dynasty: Jerathi'tekh, higher sect of the Nihiltekh.
Rank: Regent Lord, Third of his Phaeron's Chosen, acting as Varguard.
Unit Archtype: Lychguard
Wargear: Warscythe, Ghostmantle, Phylactery

Just updated my last post (as the Cataloguer) with Sarnakh releasing Sy to do what he needs to.

Also, Mithihotep, is the 'now you shall be alone for eternity" quote, or however it goes, it that a reference to something?

No I'm afraid not. Good try, Sarnakh. I'll tell you all what the really hard one is. The really hard reference to get is the way the C'Tan kills Mithihotep's wife. I imagined the Deceiver, and his shards, to be shapeshifters like the Changelings from Deep Space Nine, so I gave the shard the ability to turn one of his arms into a long point to make a sword. The Changeling in the Deep Space Nine episode I mentioned is confronted by a couple of Klingons, and one draws his dagger. The Changeling responds by changing his arm into a sword, saying "Mine's bigger." The Klingon then attempts to stab him but because he's a Changeling the attack does no damage at all, and the Changeling retaliates by stabbing the Klingon in the chest in self-defence, mortally wounding him. I decided to do a similar sequence with A'Raken but rather than self-defence I made him kill an innocent, unarmed female Necron to show how cowardly the Deciever could be, and also I made it Lunari who the Deceiver murdered to in effect break Mithihotep's mind and drive him mad. Mithihotep cares more for his wife than anyone else in the world, even himself, so to have the Deceiver kill her after everything Mithihotep did for her would make it all the more terrifying for him. He allowed his people to undergo biotransferrance to protect his wife from dying, but the fact that she dies anyway is what makes him a little unhinged at times. He tries to carry on with his duty as Phaeron, but within his mind his wife's murder still haunts him, even after millions of years of sleep. It's quite similar to Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side to learn Darth Plagueis' powers and keep his wife from dying, but she dies anyway.

Sorry to go on a bit. But anyway, the more cryptic reference is a bit of a Star Trek and Star Wars reference combined. I will give you a clue on the easier response in that it is also a Star Wars reference, but to a different character. Try looking at what the C'Tan says at the beginning of the flashback and watch Revenge of the Sith again.

Aaannnddd... Somewhere along the way, a huge 7 or so paragraph document containing my post got deleted... This makes me very not-happy.

Ouch. That's happened a few times with my posts as well. But then I go and remake them, and they turn out just fine (if not better). What I've done is start writing them up on google docs and then copypasting. It's worked for the past few times for me.

As an aside, was this on iCloud? I had icloud eat a chapter and a half's worth of an AU for another fandom I'm part of. I wasn't happy either.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Syramis - that must have taken ages to do, and must be a real pain to find that it's disappeared. Can you remember the document's name? Have you tried searching for it on your computer's search bar on the Start menu?

There's a lesson for us all, chaps - when writing documents to post new sections of the story, remember to back them up on a memory stick in case they somehow get deleted on the main computer.

I've just written entire posts as I have been going along by typing them up from my iPad or laptop on the site with no draft or anything, if that's any help for a tip. It takes ages to complete for long posts, but it vastly reduces the risk of losing your ideas.

Is anybody actually doing any posts here anymore? The story needs to have a conclusion...

Right then, friends, I'm determined to get this RP back into action, and I think I'll start with an Orky post. I know they'll be arriving at the Tomb Complex after Syramis, but the next post can describe how they got there quicker than normal...
