Hi, chaps I've amassed quite a few Converted Necron models and I thought I might as well share them. Quite a few of them aren't fully painted yet, but I'll try to post updates when they are. Anyway, I'll start off with my Immortals: Spoiler: click to toggle These were intended to be a little like the old Pariahs - being other beings who had been turned into Necrons (in this case DE). Aside from the poor paint job (I think I just used them to test some effects) I'm quite pleased with how these turned out. The only things I dislike are: - Using a torso with tits for the leader. - The leader's scythe. Not sure what it is exactly but I really don't like how it turned out. I might try either using a different blade (possibly the same one I used for this chap - http://i.imgur.com/FPgVh9v.jpg), or else turn it into a knife or such. Deathmarks: Spoiler: click to toggle Similar theme here - this time with genestealers being converted, though also with a lot of spare limbs added. I think the exaggerated genestealer works well for Necrons. Not much more to say about these other than I'd like to get them painted soon. Destroyer Lord: Spoiler: click to toggle A pretty simple conversion, but still one of my absolute favourite models. This chap came about because I always loved the idea of Destroyer Lords but never really liked the big, bulky Destroyer chassis. I think the tentacles fit quite well and I also quite like how the half-halo thing around his head came out (I didn't like the elaborate Overlord head, so I was looking for a slightly different way to signify his rank). I'm also really pleased with how the paint-scheme came out on this one. I know it's nothing special, but believe me when I say that it's good by my standards. ;) (Continued due to picture limit.) Triarch Stalker: Spoiler: click to toggle Going back to the Tyranid theme a bit with this bio-mechanical monstrosity. This thing came about because in 7th I had 2 Annihilation/Command Barges but only ever used one (and often not even that). However, I wanted to try out the Triarch Stalker so I decided to try and convert one of my Barges into one. I didn't have enough Necron bits but I did have a lot of spare 'nid parts, so I went with a bio-mechanical theme instead. I haven't finished painting it yet, but I'm hoping to blend the nid parts and Necron parts together a bit more (I'm thinking a metallic colour for the nid claws and blades), and some more 'organic' washes on the Necron parts - especially around the places where they join up with 'nid parts. I don't know if any of these really quality as good conversions, but I had fun making them. If I make any more or if make some decent headway in the painting department, I'll add the updated pictures. Edited by Vipoid, Jun 28 2017, 03:37 PM.

Flayed One

Some very interesting and original conversions you have there - I was considering using Genestealers to make Flayed Ones, perhaps using Necron heads and torsos with genestealer claws and legs, and the Deathmarks look very similar to that. I love the tentacled Necron Lord too - very reminiscent of the Warcraft 3 Lich. Perhaps you could try similar with Necron warrior bodies and more tentacles, perhaps Venomthrope tentacles, to create a unit of Destroyers with the same theme - it would be very interesting to see how something like that would turn out. The biomechanical stalker is also an amazing kit-bash - I also have a load of spare Tyranid bits that I could probably use with some Necron stuff to create some peculiar - looking vehicles. The limit of my converting powers at the moment is my Harbinger of Eternity made entirely from spare parts in the Show your Royal Courts post, but I am inspired now to create some new masterpieces! Thank you. :)
Just a warning - genestealer legs could be a pain because of how they normally attach (IIRC one is already attacked to the torso and the other slots into the side of it). No idea if that'll cause a problem you, but I thought it best to let you know. Either way, best of luck. If you manage it, I'd love to see the results.
It'll probably have to wait until I can afford to buy more models (with the exception of the Destroyer Lord, these conversions all arose from pragmatism - as I was trying to get as much mileage as possible out of the bits I already owned). But yeah, I think something like that could be a lot of fun. If I use the Venomthrope tentacles it would also tie into the vague tyranid/assimilation theme I've accidentally acquired. :P
It's a fun thing to try, I think. I also want to mess around with 'nid bits on some more infantry models.
I rather liked your Harbinger. I think there's something really cathartic about making models from spare parts. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed my conversions. If you do make some more of your own, I'd love to see them. Cheers for the feedback and suggestions. [Also, I just remembered that I've got some converted Wraiths, so I'll try and post some pictures of them soon.] |

Okay, here are the Wraiths. Unfortunately, I can't take much credit for these as I was mostly following a guide I found here: https://www.frontlinegaming.org/2011/11/30/40k-modeling-cheap-and-fast-necron-wraith-and-scarab-conversions-tutorial/ Still, I've made a couple of changes so I might as well show them: Spoiler: click to toggle Unfortunately, I actually ran out of pieces, so a couple have had to go without arms: Spoiler: click to toggle However, I decided to try and make that look like part of their design. In effect, I had a go at making it look like they could retract their arms and assume a more compact form (either for defence or when inactive): Spoiler: click to toggle However, the alteration I'm most pleased with is an entirely functional one. See, the original tutorial would have had me cut the top off a flying base and then glue it to the bottom of the Wraith. I didn't like that idea for 2 reasons: Firstly because I don't have many spare flying bases (hence, I don't want to prevent them from being used for any other model), and secondly because it would make them much more of a pain to store. I managed to find a solution to this - which came in the unlikely from of the end-piece of Tesla guns. I found that this piece clips perfectly onto the ball of a flying base. So, by attacking this small piece to the bottom of my Wraiths, I can attach or detach their bases as needed. Spoiler: click to toggle Well, that's all for now, guys. |

Really original work. I think the paintjob ties them together nicely. Look forward to more of it! |

Thanks. :) Painting aside, there probably won't be many more conversions, at least for a while. I've all but run out of spare Necron bits to make them out of. :'( That said, I do have a Necron in a chair (one of the ones from the Annihilation Barge) that I'd really like to do something with. Not sure what though. If you have any ideas I'm all ears. ;) I've also got a few non-Necron conversions if anyone would like to see those as well? |
