This list is quite different from my previous lists, that I have used so far in 8th. Since 8th is still new to me, I try to experiment with different units and see how the do on the battlefield. I have looked threw the army lists forums and there were a list with a deceiver in it (The deceiver bomb list) and I thought that I would give it a shot (plus I have a Deceiver conversion, that I have been working on for ages ;) ).
I try to make lists, that will not require the use of stand ins (or keep it a minimum at least) and they will only require a small investment to my existing army (with the way that GW now activly makes FAQ's, the meta will change rapidly over the next 4-6 months (this can be seen with the recent FAQ with the spam flyer lists (206 Stormravens are present to this years ETC))

With that out of the way, here is the list;

Outrider Detachment:

Destroyer Lord
+ Res. Orb
+ Warscythe

Deceiver

5 x Scarabs

5 x Wraiths

4 x Destroyers
+ 1 x Heavy Destroyer

4 x Destroyers
+ 1 x Heavy Destroyer

Spearhead Detach:

Destroyer Lord
+ Res. Orb
+ Warscythe

Anni Barge (With tesla)
+ Tesla Cannon

Anni Barge (With tesla)
+ Tesla Cannon

3 x Heavy Destoyers

Total = 1991

The strength of the list is the mobility, it's anti tank/high armour and with the Res. Orbs I will have a good chance of getting my Destoyers back.

The reason for the duel Destroyer Lord, is to maximise the bubble effect and make sure that all Destroyers can re-roll 1's to wound.

The weakness of the list must be horde armies, since I can shoot them all away before they come down to my deployment zone.

I hope you will leave a comment and make some suggestions to improve this list :D

I'm not seeing how you're using the deceiver...with as much mobility you have, there really isn't a point in keeping him around. I would sooner swap him out for more heavy destroyers.

It looks like you are aiming to use the Deceiver to drop the wraiths into the back field of the enemy and cause your opponent to deal with them.

I tried this in one game and it was pretty decent as a distraction but did next to nothing damage wise. Wraiths are resilient but rubbish at dealing damage.

I think your anti horde is covered by the barges just fine. They will be pumping out so many shots your opponent will struggle to deal with it. I would be tempted to drop the res orb and 1 scarab in order to add a second scarab unit. They are super useful to block smite spam and also harass objectives.

Thanks for all the responses and input on improving this list :)

@deth110

I can kind of see, that will all of the mobility his ability might not get the full potential. I have though about switching him out with the Nightbringer instead, as he would bring some serious CC to the army. Another idea was:

Removing;

Destroyer Lord (and replace him with a cryptek)
Res. Orb on the other Destroyer Lord
The unit of Scarabs

And then I can take a unit of 14 Warriors instead.

Would that be better?

@Death1942

That was the general idea, as they would provide my opponent with a decent amount of pressure (with the wraiths behind him).
I dont even need to remove a Scarab, I can just remove a Res. Orb since I have 9 points left. But is a unit of 3 scarabs, strong enough to help against spam smite? They are quite good at taking objectives as you mention, so prehaps it is a good idea :)

3 scarabs can sit infront of your characters and now your opponent is not allowed to target the character. 39 points for 9 wounds of shielding for your characters is pretty awesome.

3 wounds each makes them perfect for anti mortal wound chaff. Most mortal wounds are spat out at less than 3 wounds so your scarabs can happily take those hits until they are wiped out. The second your opponent targets the scarabs with any of his weapons you are basically coming out ahead, 39 points is nothing in the grand scheme of your army and for every turn he shoots at your scarabs he isn't shooting at the rest of your army.

Finally your scarabs can screen your characters towards the front lines and then dash off to grab a side objective. Sitting on one objective off to the side is super frustrating for your opponent as they will now need to dedicate something to remove the scarabs otherwise you can just keep racking up the objective points.

Also you asked about dropping some stuff in order to fit in a unit of 14 warriors. More warriors are great but I wouldn't sacrifice anything for them, you simply add more warriors the bigger your force gets.

Also the key thing about the night bringer vs the deceiver (outside of the movement trick) is actually the damage. 3 damage guaranteed is arguably better than d6, thunder hammers absolutely wreck vehicles and characters because the damage is so consistent. The deceiver will toss out steady and painful damage for your opponent while the night bringer is much more variable.
