Hey, all! I'm getting back into tabletop gaming after about 10 years away. I was drawn in by the look of 8th edition and decided on Necrons to start collecting.

Here's what I already have:

1 Necron Lord
36 Necron Warriors
9 Scarab Swarms
1 Triarch Stalker
1 Canoptek Spyder

And here's what I have in mind for my 1,500 point list to collect towards. I'm looking for a list that I can bring to my local store to pick up a game with anybody, so I've gone for a mix of units. Before I keep building units, though, I'd love to hear if there's a way I could make a well-rounded list more efficient or fun. Without further ado:

1 Necron Lord, RO, Warscythe (147)
1 Cryptek, SoL (104)
18 Necron Warriors (216)
18 Necron Warriors (216)
10 Immortals, Tesla Carbines (170)
1 Triarch Stalker, Twin Heavy Gauss Cannon (181)
9 Scarab Swarms (117)
1 Canoptek Spyder, Gloom Prism, Fabricator Claw Array (89)
Doomsday Ark (203)

This only comes to 1443. To get to 1491, I could bump both Warrior squads to 20 (but this isn't ideal as the boxes of 12 make the units of 18 much more affordable!). The items I have not yet purchased are the Cryptek, Doomsday Ark, and Immortals, so I'd prefer to play around with those potential points first. Thanks for any advice!

The list looks pretty solid for the models you have.

Three things stand out to me straight away, spyders aren't that great atm, res orbs are too expensive and you are slightly lacking in anti tank shots at 1500.

I think if you knock out the spyder, drop the res orb and bump up the lord to an overlord with a sword (104 points) , and drop some warriors you can fit in a unit of 3 heavy destroyers (225 points). I would also split the scarabs into 3 units of 3 so they can harass objectives easier and block smite attacks on your front lines (you can space them out better). Don't do this if you keep the spyder as the bigger unit is better for that buff.

Overlord gives the MWBD buff to the immortals so your Teslas are going off on 5s and 6s now and your base shots are hitting on 2s. The 3 heavy destroyers are quite durable and the 3 AT shots they give you are great and will combo well with the DDA and the Stalker so you can eliminate a high wound and high toughness model every turn.

In saying that if you wanted to not spend too much money then don't worry too much about the spyder, your list is fine for pick up games but I would definitely at least bump up the lord to and overlord and drop the res orb. Invest the points in a ghost ark maybe or just bump up the warriors. Alternatively take a 2nd cryptek and split the scarabs into 3 units of 3 and take an outrider detachment for +1CP (ontop of the +3 you get from your battalion)
