1250 tournament list (No FW)

My local area is doing 1250 sized tournaments with no Forgeworld or lords of war allowed. The FW rule hurts for my anti tank and the meta is currently dominated by razorback spam, dreadknight spam and Imperial guard vehicle spam so I am a bit concerned about getting enough AT on the board.

Battalion:

Catacomb Command Barge
Gauss, Warscythe

Cryptek

7x Immortals with Tesla

5x Immortals with Gauss

20x Warriors

3x Scarabs

3x Scarabs

3x Heavy Destroyers

3x Heavy Destroyers

For reference I don't own a doomsday ark otherwise I would probably chuck one or two into this list. Any thoughts? I am really concerned that if my opponent goes first they are just going to blow away one heavy destoryer squad and now I am left with only 3 anti tank shots.

If you are able, I would replcace the warriors with a Triarch Stalker (heat ray) and a few more Immortals (making two squads of 5 and one of 6). Honestly we struggle at anything under 1500 points.

Or maybe consider dropping the Cyptek as well as the warriors and losing some command points for a more rounded list. I would do;

Outrider:

CCB w/warscythe + tesla
10x Immortals
10x Immortals
Triarch Stalker (heat ray)
3x HD
3x HD
4x Scarabs
4x Scarabs
3x Scarabs

I strongly second this.

I've struggled to build Battalion detachments under 1850 points where I didn't seriously compromise unit strength.

Stronger units so they stand up to more punishment greatly benefits our Reanimation Protocols rule.

Sacrificing 2 command points for removing the Warriors isn't that big a deal either, considering you'd likely spend those 2 command points on an auto-pass for that squad anyway!

Best of luck with your tourney! I hope you enjoy yourself and have some success.

PS: if your TO hasn't organised much in the way of decent LoS blocking terrain to hide your HDs behind, get into them to pull their fingers out and build some! Better yet, build some yourself and donate it to the cause. Crucial for game balance in 8th edition.

Hmmm those are pretty good suggestions. I honestly think the cryptek +1 reanimation and the 5++ buff, as well as the +2cp is worth the battalion tax of 3 troops.

My big issue with the stalkers is T6 so a lot of armies have access to str 7 2 damage guns which are going to shred a stalker pretty quickly. IN saying that at least they would probably target the stalker first and then move onto my heavy destroyers.

I am wondering if maxing out the immortals would be better than a 20 man warrior blob.

I guess the question is what is more powerful for us at lower points, reanimation protocol or quantum shielding?

I think the answer lies with the meta at low points.

As you mentioned, many armies have the S7, D2 weapons. You're reduced to rolling 1s for Quantum Shielding to come into effect. If that's the anti-tank people are bringing, then it doubles as a great counter to QS.
I imagine that those weapons are more cost effective than melta or las at lower points, so it may pay to anticipate the meta accordingly and assume that your QS will be countered. If not, bonus!

Almost every unit with Reanimation Protocols can be hidden, or at the very least be made a pain in the arse for the enemy to shoot at, making RP far less situational than QS with the above considerations.

Finally, on the 20 man blob vs 10 immortals; do the tourneys incorporate ObSec? 20 properly positioned Warriors are very hard to shift from an objective...
