New to Necrons, First Army List 2000 pts

So I'm new to Necrons (new to 40k as a whole actually) and all I have is the start collecting kit for necrons. I've been watching some battle reports and made a list of what I think would be a fun casual army.

Battalion:
Overlord, Warscythe, Resurrection Orb (132 pts)
Cryptek (119 pts)
10 Gauss Immortals (170 pts)
10 Warriors (120 pts)
11 Warriors (132 pts)
Doomsday Ark (203 pts)
Doomsday Ark (203 pts)

Total:1079 pts

Vanguard:
Anrakyr, Warscythe (176 pts)
10 Lychguard, Hyperphase Sword & Dispersion Shields (380 pts)
Triarch Stalker, Twin Heavy Gauss Cannon (181 pts)
Triarch Stalker, Twin Heavy Gauss Cannon (181 pts)

Total:918 pts

Grand Total:1997 pts

So my plan was to have the battalion detachment stay as a blob slowly advancing and shooting with the arks staying in the back for anti tank support. The vanguard would charge forward and fight the enemy head on, I am debating on switching out the twin heavy gauss cannons for heat rays for better close range combat.

Any feedback is helpful as I'm trying to learn the game. However winning isn't as important as having a fun army, like I said just a casual first army list. Thanks.

I understand winning isn't important to you but Anakyr only costs 167pts not 176pts :-).

Otherwise, for a casual setting, the list looks decent.

Edit: After reading your post again, I'd check all your point costs. Some of the other ones seem off as well.

Yeah I looked back and noticed my mistakes,
I've adjusted and had enough points to change it to two squads of 10 warriors and 1 squad of 12 immortals.
Aside from that are there any significant problems with this army?

It doesn't look like there are significant problems. It should do fine in a casual setting.

I would suggest tesla on the immortals instead of gauss if it's not too late.

I think gauss is better for the stalkers mostly because it has a longer range and thus gives you better flexibility to take advantage of Targeting Relay. I didn't try putting them in front though, it may be a better idea to do so since they do have a reasonable amount of wounds. But still, 36" is going to help you give bonuses to your DA.

I think I will switch to tesla Immortals, thanks. It's not late at all.
Like I said all I have is the start collecting set, I was just waiting for feedback before I started on expanding from there.
Speaking of, any recommendations on how to start expanding to get this list, I was thinking of just getting another start collecting kit and go from there.

Immortals are max 10 to the unit, not 12

You should use something like Battlescribe to set up the list, it will get it right for you

You might want to wait until we get our codex before buying too much stuff. A few months back I wanted 20+ tomb blades and now I don't even consider using them. That being said, I don't think you can go wrong with the starter set and ghost/Doomsday arks. But I recommend you magnetize then, I regret not doing it for mines.
