Despite in more recent times of being associated with hipsters and hilarious reviews from Pitchfork Radiohead are one of the most critically acclaimed and influential bands of the past 20 years. Even though they're a commercially successful band, and each album tops the charts and the majority of their albums are listed as some of the best ever, everyone only knows their song Creep, which is off of their first album, from 1993. Since then, they've changed their sound multiple times, they no longer sound like the song everyone associates them with. Since the 2000's, they've started getting more experimental, so it is a bit of an acquired taste, but not as bad as some other non-mainstream bands like Sonic Youth. My personal opinion, they're one of my favorite bands, and I love how they changed my outlook on how to layer instruments in music. Since they have three guitarists, they started writing music in a way where everyone's doing something different, instead of some other bands where one guy plays lead, and the other guys just play rhythm. Even though they also started incorporating keyboards and synths into their music, there's also times where you think it's a synthesizer, but it's actually a guitar. It's fun for effects nerds like me. Favorite albums: In Rainbows Ok Computer Kid A Favorite songs: Reckoner Let Down How to Disappear Completely Separator |
