General: Full Name: Melinda Daae. Nickname: There is grandiose in using your full name. No nickname. Gender: Female Race: Mixed. Caucasian/Filipino Age: 17 Birthday: December 13 Resident of: Academia (Resident of Academia because of adoptive parents; BUT lived in Outskirts before the death of her biological parents). Member of: Exterior and Interior Appearance: Melinda has olive skin, dark heavy curls, and green eyes that pierced into souls. She has always maintained a shapely figure and was impeccably well dressed, the mark of the privileged. She was strikingly beautiful, but incredibly unlike her fair-skinned adoptive family. Her deep dimples contrasted with the smooth planes of her mother and father; A rounded chin differed from the sharp edges of the traditional Daae jawline. She stuck out, quite exceptionally. Personality: Melinda has a kind heart, is fiercely loyal, and frighteningly intelligent. These are all characteristics known by the people around her. However, unknown about her is her quietly defiant nature. Although top of her class, Melinda secretly smuggles paint into her room any chance she gets. Painting is the only thing that truly made her happy, next to going to an underground club to listen to opera music. Melinda, being fatally curious, also begins to sneak into the city archives to find out about her past in the Outskirts. Likes: Painting, vanilla perfume, parkour, military boots, and The Phantom of the Opera. Dislikes: Charity balls (let's face it, they're nothing but a glorified social event, not a benefit for the starving), judgmental pseudo-relatives, raisins. Talents: Melinda is fast, agile, and, she realizes, potentially deadly. She doesn't understand why she is naturally adept at martial arts; it is one of the reasons she decides to research her real family. She is also able to pour all her emotions into her illegal paintings. Her photographic memory allows her to have no need to study, giving her time to perform her daily shenanigans. Inabilities: Easily manipulated due to her unwavering trust. Fears: Melinda knows she does not belong in Academia. Her biggest fear is her parents' disownment when she reaches the inevitable choice of whether to stay or leave. History: Past: Melinda lived with her biological parents in The Outskirts until the age of 3. Her parents were active members of the resistance movement, the AP, and were employed in the catacombs as defensive fighters. They died for unknown reasons. As no one in the Outskirts had the resources to adopt a child, Melinda was taken in by a very well-off couple in Academia. Melinda was the first in history to transition from the Outskirts to Academia, as her adoptive parents were desperate for a child. Unfortunately, Melinda has no recollection of this besides random flashes of her past life in her dreams. She cannot piece the fragments of her dreams together, which prompts her to unearth the secrets her adoptive parents were hiding. Dreams and Ambitions: To be free to paint and listen to opera in broad daylight. |
