I'm thinking of submitting this to the lit. magazine, so if you guys like it, feel free to leave feedback as a reply! Also, Miss Exposition, since I'd email this to you at some point anyways, go ahead and copy-paste this into the magazine as one of my 3 poetry submissions. The One I've chased this dream Since the start of my days Trying to believe Things will be better today I pretend I'm okay But it's not going away Like it was at 14 When I had my first date My fate stayed the same And the girl moved away How many young lovers Seem to make it, anyway? I'm just struggling through the day Trying to find the one That's not walking away Spend a life alone Maybe then you'll know How it feels without Someone close Like stars in the night They keep passing me by Just wasting time Trying to find love's light Yet I still try to be The one they want to see But is there one for me? I've tried a thousand times And heard a thousand goodbyes I'm in my room, just leaning on the windowpane Staring at the falling drops of rain Covering a world That doesn't know my pain My school days are silence; It's all that they want to say And I'll find myself Trying to stay by the phone Because when it rings, I don't feel so alone It seems like I'm living this life on my own It's funny that I call this prison my home Turn the lights down low Walk this road alone Without someone to hold It's so cold Like stars in the night They keep passing me by Just wasting time Trying to make this right And if this all ends up As a broken dream If there's truly none for me Why should I even try To make light from the night? |
