Riddle Me This
|
General Full Name: - Carter Blane Gaven Nickname: - Cart, Art, Gaven Gender: Male Race: - Of Irish and Italian descent Age: - 17 Birthday: - June 21st Resident of: - Academia; plans on leaving for the Outskirts Member of: -- Exterior and Interior Appearance: ![]() - Often described as a stocky teen, Carter has always been the type that is easily looked over due to his height. However, recently, he has discovered a way to bypass this seemingly-permanent role as one that doesn't stand out. Decorating himself with strange gadgets, and hiding behind a dull, red mask, Carter slowly grew into the role of both and inventor as well as a superhero of sorts. Heavily based off of the protagonist of an "ancient and highly illegal" comic strip he dug up, his costume resembles that of a maniac with a death-wish. Beneath his strange technology, a mix of both Academia and Outskirt based attire can be found. His most common garments include a plain, tan dress shirt, an Academia vest, tie, his signature red mask, a pair of ever-changing gloves, his home-made night-vision goggles with radio-adaptable antennas, along with different sorts of weapons. - If one were to successfully remove his mask(something that doesn't usually happen, unless it his own hand making the move), they would find the stereotypical Irish boy. Pointed ears, a thin face, decorated with freckles over his pale complexion. His bright green eyes and short-cropped ginger hair are his most prominent features, topped off with a mischievous grin. Personality: - Upon first meeting, Carter seems like the eager soldier, ready to do anything in order to please others and get a taste of blood. In truth, that is exactly what he is. Due to his long-lived time in Academia, a city of rules where nothing can be done without someone staring over your shoulder, he has grown impatient of waiting for adventure to seek him. Following the revelation that he won't simply stumble upon the adventure he longs for, Carter turned into a reckless mess, leaping at any chance he could get to leave, to walk, to run, to do anything. - A rule-breaker of outstanding proportions, he can't fathom the thought of not going out of his way to do so. After coming to realize that the rules of Academia would be harder to break as he was, a young boy without a true cause, he took to heroism, deeming himself worthy to be a rebel within the city walls. At the time of his decision, he knew nothing of going about it. However, Carter is extremely determined, if not slightly obsessed with making something of himself. Taking to inventing, he became a self-taught tinkerer, as well as a rebellious citizen, spraying graffiti wherever he could. - A joker, Carter has always been known to do obscure things in order to get a laugh from others, and himself. He is often the only one to laugh at his unusually cruel pranks. Of all the beings he has pulled something on, he has found that authority is always the best to joke with, simply because the looks of confusion sent his way are hilarious beyond all reason. Carter is childish, and extremely inconsiderate of others' feelings, if anything. - However, when he is alone, or in a large crowd where he knows that he won't manage to stand out, his personality shifts completely. He is a daydreamer, a curious boy who simply wants to know. With a tendency to blank out while in the middle of something, he often lets his mind wander. As one of his main ways of coming up with new theories and ideas, this can also prove to be dangerous, due to his active imagination. He often finds himself picturing people, items, animals, that he simply must see outside of his head, on paper or a wall, or something that can make the effort worth it. This has proven to be the most dangerous side of him, for when he is desperate enough, he will go to any lengths in order to get his ideas down on paper. Likes: - Adventure, fighting, tinkering, exploring, inventing Dislikes: - Silence, rules, enclosed spaces, emptiness Talents: - He has a talent for figuring out how things(machines, a brain, etc) work, and creating diagrams of their interiors in his mind. Inabilities: - Born with tritanopia, a form of color blindness that alters the sight of hues of orange, yellow, blue, and purple, causing them to seem watered down by dull blue-grey colors, or white. Fears: - Being caught, his identity being found, being betrayed History Past: - Born and raised in the city of Academia, Carter has always lived the life of luxury. His family was well off, with both parents working as professors, one of the more desired jobs in the area. As any other student, he showed intellectual potential and had a knack for learning new concepts. And, for the most part, he lived the life of a normal Academia student. Up until he turned fifteen, that is. - About two months after his birthday, he was given an assignment. A simple task, really. Write a report on the founding of Academia, MLA format, eight paragraphs, due three weeks after being assigned. As any other, Carter started at the beginning. The time before Academia. He read about the Outskirts, about the poverty-stricken time before the city's founding, everything about the time before. Strictly facts, of course. No straying into art, no-siree. Of course, he was curious. He wondered what was outside the city, what sort of people, if any, were out there. As a hands-on type, he decided to visit the outer edge in person. - That was when he found it. A single shovel, sticking straight up from the ground. As any being with a sense of curiosity, he took the shovel up, and began to dig. However, what he found wasn't at all what he expected. After a few minutes of digging, Carter reached a tin lunchbox, a vintage from before Everything. An extremely rare piece that could make him rich within days. But, of course, he couldn't help himself. He opened the tin, and resting inside was a series of comic books. Extremely illegal. Ten thin comic books. Art. Very illegal. So he read. He read of the masked superhero, the teen who was bitten by a spider and gifted with startling senses. An inventing boy, who could make practically anything he wish. A boy who was snarky enough to outmatch ten villains. - Carter took the comics home, read the over and over again, hid them from his parents, and began to long for something more. Anything more than this simple life that he was leading. That was when he decided to be a superhero, an inventor that didn't need real abnormal powers to do what he wished. At the age of sixteen, he took to "crime" fighting, rebelled against the people who no longer allowed his favorite character to exist. He focused on speed, spraying painting pictures and symbols around the city while hiding under a mask and getting away before the law could catch him. The self-righteous boy left his home and family, convincing himself that he never really liked it there, anyways. He began to live in an abandoned apartment at the edge of the city, where parts for future inventions were easy to steal, and where it was difficult to find anyone specific. He now journeys around the city, swinging on rooftops using his grappling hook-like invention. Dreams and Ambitions: - Carter wants to change the world. Be it for good or bad, depending on the side he ends on, he simply wants it to change. |
