| What is New Hyperion? New Hyperion (NH) is a region of NationStates. It is an empire built on the principles of Hyperionism, our guiding philosophy. Great! How do I sign up? Hold on there, buddy, you haven't even registered yet! You'll have to scroll up (or just click here) and take care of that first. After that, take a look at those four forums at the top of the list. The Low Orbit Welcome Wagon is where you can apply for Plebeianship and introduce yourself. You can undergo Patricianship if you're interested in leadership. For everything else, go to Imperial Service. What if I'm a diplomat? Go to the Immigration Desk instead, and we'll get you masked. What's the government situation look like? Our region has three main levels of command: the Imperial Council, the Inquisition, and the Hyperion Senate. The Imperial Council (IC) consists of the Autarch, Chancellor, Lord Inquisitor, High Lords, and military command. It assembles when sensitive or secret decisions need to be made. Its members otherwise act separately as department heads and administrators. The Inquisition is the law enforcement of the region. Inquisitors ensure that all members are complying with any requirements currently set in place, and, along with the Lord of Development, also controls admission into the Patrician caste. The Judiciary, our courts system, also exists as part of the Inquisition. The Hyperion Senate consists of all our Patricians, and is the primary body of law and policy. The Senate operates somewhere between a democracy and a mob, and doesn't necessarily need hard votes to get things done. While the IC is technically superior to the Senate, it is more common for the Councillors to participate as Senators. As such, the Hyperion Senate tends to be the most important part of the entire government. Is that it? Of course not, that would be dry and boring. Granted, the Hyperion Senate is about as boring as a discussion on abortion, but you probably don't want to deal with its squabbles and silliness 24/7. That's why we have the Imperial Service and the military. The Imperial Service consists of the various departments, such as Foreign Affairs and Recruitment. All departments are volunteer-only, though enlistment and training in the Hyperian Guard is highly recommended for all members. In general, however, you will be encouraged to join under-staffed departments. Oh yeah, didn't your recruitment telegram mention an RP? Why yes it did! While we allow other RPs, of course, our main RP is the one that sets the standard of our theme and culture. It's kind of complex and involved, but once you get the ball rolling it's about as smooth sailing as any other RP. What if I need help? Pop us a question. Our patience is legendary. You may also check the Great Library of Trantor for answers to some of the more common questions. |

PERSONAL LOG JARL NARFI ARAGONN 8 MONTHS PRIOR TO PENGUINS VS COOKIES INCIDENT The crime rate is the highest it's ever been. All attempts from forced free labor to getting eaten by genetically engineered dragons have been unsuccessful at lowering, or even stopping the incline of, the crime rate. There is only one option left to me. I must distribute cookies to the masses. But these can't be any ordinary cookies. These must be soft, chewy chocolate chip cookies. The only place to acquire these cookies from is the Triple Entente. I must begin negotiations with their leaders immediately before my beloved nation goes to ruin. PERSONAL LOG KOMMANDER VANIR GUNNAR 7 MONTHS PRIOR TO PENGUINS VS COOKIES INCIDENT The troops are getting restless as they hear about the state of our nation. I hear them whispering their conversations as I walk past them. They talk about the failure of the changes in the Justice department and of the possibility of cookies to be distributed. One marine went so far as to claim that Aragonn is failing at being Jarl. I reprimanded the man on the spot and took away his rations for three days. That should keep them from talking bad about the Jarl... Edited by Aragonn, Nov 22 2014, 08:49 AM.

PERSONAL LOG KOMMANDER ASTRID BRUNNHILDE 7 MONTHS PRIOR TO PENGUINS VS COOKIES INCIDENT The Aesir police forces are in over their heads with all that's going on. They have to focus all of their attention to catching criminals with no forces assigned as guards. This is where the Aesir Guard is coming in. My soldiers will be posted as guards at banks and other important locations. My only concern is how the Aesir people will handle this. I don't want an armed revolution to start. The idea of Aesir against Aesir bothers me. Civil unrest is already high enough. Hopefully that won't happen... |

BLACKWATCH DATA FILE #475476254875-242 MISSION LOG - PORT ALEXANDRIA, TRIPLE ENTENTE ENTRY #1 TIME STAMP: TWO YEARS AGO ENTRY LOGGED BY: SENIOR SUPERVISORY OPERATOR 11657-ALPHA, MISSION COMMANDER Senior Supervisory Operator 1-1-6-5-7 Alpha. Begin entry. So begins another assignment. It's my second time leading the first Blackwatch team in an area. The preparations...they take so long. But good preparations can easily save the lives of you and your fellow operators, so they're worth every second. I've worked with my second before, during a three-year stint in Genesis. Boy, that place was a mess. Nothing like back home, or even here. Anyway, Beta was one the other operators with me in Geonosis. Seems so long ago. The other two operators here are new to me. Delta was just recruited six months ago; she says that she was a narc for DOS for two years before that. Our final operator, Iota, has been with the Watch for two years but has never left Colbentielle until now. Welcome to the field, kid. We've set up our base of operations without a hitch. When we got here, there was already a building waiting for us with apartments, office space, and a storefront, purchased by the Captionis Consortium several months before our arrival. All we had to do was move in and set up our equipment. It was quite simple to ship our equipment into the city by mixing it in with the rest of our genuine office equipment. Getting personnel in was far more complicated. Beta and myself are here on business visas, ostensibly working for Magnifica Travel. Delta and Iota came over separately on the ferry from Captionis. Using false Colbentiellian documentation, they entered the country as tourists. Now they've had to stay inside, setting up the building, while Beta goes and picks pockets for samples of Entente IDs. We should have satisfactory forgeries in the next two or three days. Everything is moving according to schedule, and we should be operational in four days. I'm looking forward to a quiet posting in a friendly capital. Should be nice. End log entry. |

Session with dr. Frederik Schoonees, Psychiatrist specialising with soldiers, police officers, and government covert agents. Patient name: Maximus Laurentus. Dr. Schoonees: "Good day, Maximus. I'm dr. Schoonees, and I've been assigned to oversee your rehabilitation into society after the incident in New Hatfield eight weeks ago. I've already seen the case report by your commanding officer, but I would like to hear it from you, personally. Do you think you're up for it?" Maximus: "What is there to tell? I screwed up, and now 6 agents are dead, along with an entire market square and there are still terrorists running around. All because I couldn't shoot a 14 year-old boy who turned out to be a suicide bomber." Dr. Schoonees: "Could you truly have known? It is not normal for anyone to have no trouble with such a situation. The fact that you couldn't, means only that you are human." Maximus: "No. No, the signs were there. I should've seen it coming. Hell, a part of me knew what was happening, and the other part was just too weak to do what must be done. I was warned from the start that age meant nothing in northern New Hatfield. People, innocent people, are gunned down daily by children who have been recruited into gangs and terrorist organisations. Would you accept my incompetence if it were your wife who got blown to pieces, or your child whose severed hand landed on my chest after the explosion?" Dr. Schoonees: "I..." Maximus: "Nothing to say, doctor? Good. Neither do I. I was weak, and people paid for it. I will never be that weak again. We're done here. Tell my CO I'm ready to report for duty next week." Last journal recording found on Maximus Senior's office computer Well, Marinia. If you ever find yourself listening to this, it means that I have been killed. Most likely by King Voldric. You barely left here before he began organising his allies to take control of the capital. At first, he was able to rightfully win support through criticising your recent actions. Not knowing of the reasoning behind them, he invented ever more ludicrous claims about what you -- and later our entire family -- were up to. By the time that he began pushing for the enslavement of the Hatorians, he had already achieved a military presence within the city that would make opposition futile. Very soon he will try to usurp your throne, and he'll succeed. This won't be because you've truly lost the support of your lords and ladies, but because no one will think to oppose him at gunpoint. I don't know why you had to take almost all of your trusted military commanders with you, but it's costing us dearly now. I must now confess that I know about everything that you had planned. It was I that passed the information on to Sarilla, leading her to deal with Frostmark directly. A dire mistake on my part. She would have been the only one that could have maintained order in your absence, and the absence of my son. The most shocking part of everything you've done, is that you so willingly corrupted my son. Sarilla is now the only one that I would support to take the throne from you. I truly hope that Maximus will die in Miricano, as I see no way for him to regain his humanity. Were it in my power, I would have you executed for everything that you've done. Not for the Miricano-Frostmark plot, but solely for corrupting Maximus. By now you're probably wondering how I managed to obtain all this information. You should recall that I was an exceptional hacker. I still am. I go to sleep now, for what will probably be the last time. Voldric will most likely make his move tonight, and I will try everything in my power to kill him. This will be the last thing I do. When I'm gone, I'm not certain how successful Sarilla will be in gaining Frostmark's support. If she doesn't return soon enough, it is imperative that you regain control by any means necessary. Even if that means allowing both Sarilla and Maximus to die. Recording Ends |

Recording from the Autarch's office in Genesis *Popping noises* "Do not be frightened, my dear Autarch of Genesis. The stasis-field is for your own protection. I can read your thoughts. Is this truly the first time you've seen one of the toad-people from the 652-Delta sector of the Milky Way galaxy? Yes, don't worry, I find humans just as repulsive as you find me. Regardless, the great civilisations of the galaxy have chosen. Although I severely doubt the wisdom of this choice. You see, my dear Autarch, the fan is really about to hit the shit - er... apologies. That should be the other way around. Human speech is still very strange to me, and your expressions don't make sense at the best of times. The point is that between the Miricanians, the Laurentians, the Frostmarkers, the Colbentiellians, the Aesir and the Rational Scientists, this world is swiftly coming to an end. As terrible as this all must sound, the galactic community cannot intervene, for in your foolishness, humans have begun *(strange shuddering sounds)* reseach into penguin-based warfare! If you are allowed to advance any further, you will be the doom of us all! Intervene? Against penguins? Have you gone quite mad, my dear Autarch? We will be slaughtered by the thousands. And research into cheese-based warfare is just as ludicrous! Don't laugh! What does not having testicles have to do with anything? I'm having a serious conversation with you. *Audibly regains composure* No, no, I'm afraid the earth is doomed. But seeing as your nation has been the only one that hasn't gone quite as mad as the others, the Supreme Galactic Taskforce for the Protection of Lesser Lifeforms has decided that your country's people are ripe candidates for our community, and we will advance you to the pinnacle of your evolutionary potential. Say farewell to this planet, my dear Autarch. You won't ever see it again." Recording ends, amidst the wide-scale disappearance of all the citizens of Genesis* Edited by Laurentus, Apr 23 2015, 11:15 PM.
