This is a Vampire spin-off from "The Vampire Diaries" based in New Orleans. There are Vampires called "The Originals" - they are vampires that can never be killed or die. They can only be put to "rest" by these special type daggers. Who Klaus (the protagnist) in this show/story are in possession of. There are 7 central characters:

Klaus Michaelson (Original Vampire and is related to Elijah and Rebekah) Klaus is a misunderstood character. He is potentially flawed, complex, layered but deep down as the episodes progressed the writers/tptb showed us he feels, loves and wants and craves unconditional love just like everyone else. All be it, he kills and is at times seems to be a "cold blooded killer" this is the essense of who Klaus is. He loves his family above all else, he seems to be incredibly jealous of what his siblings have as far as potential life partners (love), he forever seeks their approval and is destined to go thru life with them and only them. It would be great to see if this "selfish bond" could be broken. It seems that Elijah is trying to redeem his brother thru the birth of his child by teaching him about "unconditional love". Although, I fear in the process, Elijah has fallen victim to "unconditional love" by falling in love with Hayley, the baby's mother. We are seeing a very complex story written out and at the same time with all the speed bumps, it's leaves us wanting more. The writers and tptb are very talented and skilled at this process. :cheer: They are building up different layers to Klaus' redemption for his child for himself for his family very delicately. I am looking forward to next week's episode.

Elijah Michaelson (Original Vampire) - Elijah is a character that was built on intergrity, honor and drop dead gorgeousness. What can be said. Calgon take me away. :cloud9: He promised, his word that no harm would come to Hayley or her baby and he lived up to it and then some! He took out the head witch Angus, who wanted to kill Hayley and her baby. He snapped the bitches head straight off! "Nobody messes with my family!" were his exact words. Elijah Michaelson, you are my bodyguard! :cloud9: He protected Hayley when she was running in the woods from that crazy, blood thristy, vengeful Tyler (Who was after Klaus technically but went after Hayley? Well The tag team of Elijah/Klaus taught him a lesson that day!) He protected her from so many different situations, the wolves in the bayou, the vampires that wanted to kill her because of Marcel. EJijah is Hayley's man thru and thru. I love the way they are building this couple up. How many almost kisses?

Rebekah Michaelson (Original Vampire) - Ah my dear Rebekah who is so misunderstood by her brother Klaus. Or maybe not? He just doesn't want her to be happy because he isn't happy. Rebekah was in love with Marcel who was human before coming a vampire. BUT, he was in love with Rebekah for a lontime before that. They danced around there feeling for many years. That was until Marcel grew up. He then started to want to act on those feelings, Rebekah wanted him too also. Elijah was happy for them. (Elijah was not like Klaus in that way, don't ask me why maybe because he had loved?) Anyway, Klaus found out about them and made Marcel decide do you want to kill her or become a vampire? Marcel choose the later. He became a vampire. He broke Rebekah's heart. Klaus staked her and put her to sleep I believe for over 50 years. They don't age they don't die "Originals" they just go to sleep when you stake them. She awoke she Marcel, he walked away. Klaus told her he had to teach her a lesson and that she had been asleep for 50 or 60 something years... FF present day, Marcel and Klaus are aligned "tick as thieves again" only this time, Marcel is the "King of New Orleans", we are yet to finf out why the Michaelson fled New Orleans 100 years ago...

Marcel - was a child when taken in by Klaus, he was a slave for a family on an estate close by to theirs, I believe. When Klaus saw Marcel getting beat by the person who was his "owner" (such a degrding term) he interfered, I believe he killed the man; rescued Marcellus (Which meant "Warrior" I believe something like that) because it reminded him of the beating he used to get from there father. Klaus was a "freak of nature" to their father and never accepted by the family (well the father). SO, he endured terrible beating beyond what anyone could compare. He related to Marcellus. He took him in as his own son. A bond was formed. He became part of the family.

Hayley -is a werewolf like Klaus but not a hybrid. Hayley is half human, half werewolf, whereas, Klaus is half vampire, half werewolf. They had a one-night stand which resulted in Hayley becoming pregnant with his child. That is pretty much it between those two, there was no relationship, no feelings, nothing between them, just this baby. Whereas, when Hayley came back to town and met Klaus' brother Elijah. The fireworks began! You could feel the sparks, it was kismet. It was like two old souls that were meant too be together. The scenes between them ever since, have been intense, it reminds me of EJami in a way. They have this "intense chemistry", this "presence", this "force", this "push and pull" between them that cannot be ignored. I will post some montages and clips when I'm done explaining the characters.

Cami - (Cami is Father Kiernan niece and the sister of the guy who was killed in New Orleans. She was compelled by Klaus in order to protect her from knowing too much about what was really going on in New Orleans with the vampires and werewolves. Who are btw, the 2 warring factions.) The ending of the last episode, Cami starts to remember everything! All the memories that Klaus had compelled her to forget started coming back and she was screaming in pain in the church. This is NOT GOOD YAWL!

Davina (Is a powerful young teenage witch being held captive by Marcel until recently, when Elijah promised her protection, freedom and to ability to learn more "powerful spells" from his own mother's grimoire book of spells. Up until this point she was on the vampires side (well she deflected from Marcel's side to Elijah's/Klaus' side because of Elijah and his "honor". As of the last episode we really don't know what happened to her but we think she is with Cami. (NOT GOOD!)

Father Kiernan (He hides the vampires secret in town and Cami is his niece. It is to be believed his nephew went "mad" and killed himself. Klaus is investigating this story and Marcel might have more to do with it then he is letting on.) He is apart of a powerful human counsel in town that controls what goes on.

Sophie Deveraux (Witch) she started the "Witches Harvest" which brought problems for the witches to be expelled from New Orleans to pratice magic. She was working in tandem with Marcel and also sleeping with him. They were what you call "magical powerful friends with benefits" She is still alive and looking to seek revenge and kill Davina to resurrect her dead sister who was a witch. (Who died by the hands of Marcel and the vampires.)

Now does Hayley have any idea --- that werewolf Oliver was the one who set up Rebekah?

I am telling you these werewolves Jackson (there fearless crazy ass leader included - most all him!) have an alterior motive. When it comes to bringing Hayley into the picture, I just feel it. Klaus and Elijah better protect her and the baby.

"The Originals" 1x17 "The Moon Over Burbon Street"

I was underwhelmed by last night's episode for the first time since I have started watching. I felt like something was missing. The chemistry across the set was totally different. Even between Daniel and Joseph. Something was really off, did you watch?
Even Elijah and Hayley's chemistry was totally different, it was a total shift. It was really weird. I felt bad for Elijah and Hayley was well just being a total bitch.

What was up with Marcel sleeping with Cami? Especially right after Rebekah exits? (She is supposed to be her replacement?) He is that hungry to gain power/control over NOLA? He had Genevieve watching it all thru the dream catcher. Was that supposed to be some kind of set-up? That is what he thinks of her? Nice friend he is that Marcellus. We should know better, look at what he has done to Rebekah and Thierry.

Well from what I am seeing, I think they are setting it up for a battle royale. Possibly for Klaus to screw his brother over once again. (Most likely staking him - if Daniel has to film "Saving Hope" this would give him the freedom to go back and fourth and fulfill his obligations. I think that Marcel and Elijah will likely team up and represent the "Vampire Faction" Marcel filling in as "Boss" when Elijah is not in NOLA. When they are both there, (Elijah/Marcel) possibly handling things or ruling/handling the vampires together.

Then Hayley/Klaus ruling the "Werewolves Faction" - I think that Klaus is going to kill Jackson when the opportunity arises. That ring he showed Jackson, I can't help but think that Klaus is messing with him. (It seemed like some kind of set up to me. He is going to become much more territorial when the baby is born. He will not want Jackson near Hayley or his baby. Elijah was a totally different story compared to this guy. Klaus accepted them in his own way. {Hayley/Elijah} I can’t say the same will be for Jackson!) Then I believe Klaus will kill him, being a hybrid and much more powerful. I think Klaus wants to eventually take over all of NOLA and let the werewolves hybrids rule it. I think this is the ultimate endgame of the show. Eventually taking over all of NOLA being the "KING" he wanted to be.

Then we have the "witches faction" controlled by Genevieve, Monique, and Davina. I think that they will be under Klaus' thumb once he gains ultimate control of NOLA but since his mother was a witch; will be able to practice magic. (But to his gain and favor.) His whole master plan was to sleep with Genevieve (well I am thinking this) get her to help him control/power of that moonlight ring. So he will ultimately possess the power to control/kill his enemies whenever he has too. Klaus being a vampire/hybrid (the deadliest combo) can then become the "ultimate killing machine". Protect his family and rule his kingdom.

That is what I got from watching that episode.

I didn’t like the new human female character, she seems swarmy to me. She looks like she is willing to screw over anyone, to get what she wants. Elijah shouldn’t trust her ass. Although, I think she is attracted to him and I can’t blame her one bit.

I was so glad to see Josh! Finally, Davina needs her real friend back. I didn’t like Marcel blackmailing him into getting her to use her magic. Douche. I like how she got her magic back though and showed up that little bitch Monique! Tada.

I am thinking this is Julie Plec's master plan all along for the "The Originals".

All the while having Claire Holt and Daniel Gilles come in and out when needed for episodes. Personally, if they can't keep Elijah as a series regular, I think the show is toast. I like Joseph Morgan and Phoebe Tonkin but they can't make the show 100% watchable for me without them (CH and DG), sorry. Why call it the "The Originals" then?

This was interesting and it does pose a good question, although I am still conflicted overall how I feel about the show.

The question was: "Has Klaus given up?"

Post Edited:Fri Mar 21 2014 01:11:46 Klaus remain the sneaky Klaus . 1000 years boy who want full control and powers . He clearly understand despite right now he is rule as a king in NOLA ,the truly person who wholeheartedly agreed with his claim only Elijah . He is not really loved by vampires, witches and peoples , they only fear with him . He`d seen Marcel`s empire success because loyalty not fears . So right now he would play these card . And the wolves the only creatures which doesn`t really have messed up history with him

Though maybe he is had pure intention with his unborn child , he also see chance being real Alpha Male in both worlds . He knows Jackson is his obstacle to get there because werewolves pack bound with loyalty more than any supernatural creatures , so he should win their heart first before next time kill Jackson in Alpha Male title fighting . Its common in werewolves `s world challenging the Alpha for being next Alpha .

With recent affair with Gennieve , most likely he would try winning loyalty using moonlight rings rather than creating hybrid . Not only because what happen with Tyler but I think Klaus doesnt want again his next nemesis have the same lethal strength like him.He want control not problems . But if failed , Hybrid`s way still be the options . After the curse broken , there are alot werewolves in NOLA he can experiment with isn't it?

I bet Jackson would eat the crap Klaus offered without think . Elijah maybe less pleased with wolves army idea but Klaus easy downplayed him with Hayley and Unborn Child safety arguments . The only person who clearly see this is Hayley . Like other in this forum said before, Hayley is the Key in this show . Her next movements would be change or affect everything in NOLA .

Klaus bit Elijah too in Originals when he was hallucinating in a swamp.

I agree, last night when the werewolves were like "OH SHIZ BRO WE TAKIN OVER" I rolled my eyes. Klaus could kill all of them without flexing, Elijah too -- what's the point?

Klaus doesn't even care anymore he's like ah Whatever bro I'm immortal. That's pretty much how I would be. Who cares if someone is "plotting against me" when I can't be killed.. or even hurt really.

I had to laugh when I read this BECAUSE it is so TRUE.

Yes there immortal but the leads of any show are not gonna die anyway, the danger there in is not really danger anyway, at least here theirs a reason. The white oak stake is still around and indestructible so it is possible that an original can be killed for good if it really matters that much to you.

I agree that the Originals were watered down on TVD and that they do need a adversary who can go toe to toe with them. An original werewolf or witch would certainly be good. I see no purpose for Marcel.

I do look forward to Davina taking on Monique.

Question though wasn't Marcel turned by Klaus? Wouldn't he have "Original blood/Hybrid blood" flowing thru his veins then? Stomped here.

I am still so sad Claire Holt is gone. Beks miss you girl. :'(

I am going to try to reply to everything. Sorry if I miss something. :)

Caroline coming to The Originals? I hope not. I am one of those that was never interested in Klaus and Caroline. Wrong on so many levels.

I do like Cami and I hope she sticks around. I think she will take over her uncle's post in standing up for the humans. It will definitely put her in danger though.

It was great seeing Josh again. I so want Davina to take down Monique. Also, the third witch did wake up. There's still a fourth girl.

I really thought there were two younger brother. I remembered the ones that died, but I really thought there were two more.

Marcel wouldn't be a hybrid because he was turned before the ritual on the Vampire Diaries.

I so miss Rebekah/Claire on this show. It's not the same.

Poll: Is Claire’s Exit From The Originals A Big Mistake?
Written by Kayla Falls // March 21, 2014

In case you missed the most recent episode of The Originals, our favorite sassy Mikaelson sister has made her departure from the show. Is this permanent? At this point and time, it seems pretty official…Claire’s only return will be for a guest star role.

It’s still unclear whether it was Claire’s decision to leave or if the CW and Julie Plec let her go. One article says it was Claire’s personal choice and another says Julie and company thought her story line had filled it’s purpose. There are even some rumors of her being pregnant but her mother says that’s “funny” and untrue.

Whatever her/their reasoning is for Rebekah’s character leaving, she’s gone. Personally if the writers did this then I’m pretty disappointed. They just got picked up for a second season and TVD fans are craving more of the family bonding, including Rebekah. New fans are too. Everyone knows the show is about this family but what sense does it make to split them up then call it “The Originals” if they all start leaving?

I don’t know about you guys, but I was enjoying the Hayley and Rebekah friendship. I wanted to see Rebekah finally get to be apart of the family she’s always wanted. She wanted to be a mother, so how great would it be to see her being the most amazing aunt to the baby?

Some fans speculate that Rebekah left because the ships on the show were getting a little too tangled. They think that they made Rebekah leave so Marcel can refocus on Cami, leaving Klaus to focus more on Hayley and the baby and yet another love triangle between brothers. Which kind of makes sense, since Joseph recently stated that we would be seeing more of him and his wolf side. Not sure about all the love drama, I’m hoping the writers focus on story-lines and less on relationships.

So, Claire leaving for a personal reason or whatever makes more sense. However they’ve all been pretty quiet about her departure so it’s really hard to tell. Maybe Claire wanted to get into the movie biz instead of being tied down to one area for 10 months out of the year.

What do you guys think? Is Rebekah leaving a huge mistake? Will the ratings prove that? Vote below then leave us your thoughts in the comment section. Check back every Monday for a brand new poll!

I voted Yes, it's crazy to get rid of one of the Mikaelsons! 94.5% (1,375 votes)

Which is winning by a land slide. How ironic.

I know you were never a fan of Klaus/Caroline. I understand that everyone has there favorites, or you just don't like them. Hey, I get it.

I am thinking they might bring over the Tyler from "TVD" before her. Maybe to be a nemesis to Klaus and team up with Jackson/Oliver and those werewolves. In all honesty that would make way more sense s/l wise/arc wise then bringing Caroline to "TO". We have enough love triangles going on right now to satisfy and fill the canvas.

Did you see the article I posted about Cami surviving? I hope she does as well, simply for the fact, Klaus needs a friend. He doesn't have many or really any he can trust. He can trust her and confide in her. I think this new female character though (The new female one I can't stand; in the last episode 1x17 "Moon Over Bourbon Street" might want to eliminate all of the competition including, Father Kieran and Cami.So she can represent "The Human Faction") I also think Genevieve and Marcel have made some type of agreement. In order for him to regain power in NOLA or to come back and fight Klaus for his territory, he had to give up Cami. Bad Move Marcellus.

I was so happy to see Josh again also. Davina needs her real friends back and that includes Josh. Davina is going to crush Monique, watch. I have a feeling, she is going to show her who is "queen bee"! Go D!

Claire Squashes All Rumors About Her Exit From NOLA

There has been a ton of rumors since Claire‘s exit from The Originals. Some people say she is pregnant, some people say that there was hard feelings between some of the cast mates, and there’s also the one where the writers were done with that story-line. Basically there’s a ton rumors floating around about her and and during The Originals panel at Paley Fest, she decided to set the record straight.

Quote:

Claire Holt Clarifies Her Exit from The Originals
I want to be very clear that they didn’t run out of material, I wasn’t pushed out, I wasn’t fed up with Rebekah, I didn’t quit mid-season, there was no drama, there was no rift between cast members; it really came down to the fact that I completed my initial commitment and made a life choice, not a career choice.

Pretty straightforward answer. She went on to say that she loves this family and hopes to be apart of it for a long time. Julie Plec and the rest of the cast seem extremely hopeful for Claire‘s return soon. They all seemed very supportive of her choice to take some time for herself. Who knows? Maybe she’s visiting that gorgeous quarterback in Mystic Falls? I see Rebekah taking it easy in Paris or something though.

We all love and miss the sassy blonde Original and can’t wait for her return. We hope that she enjoys her time off with the ones she loves! Hopefully those preggo rumors disappear and Claire can enjoy her vacation as peacefully as possible.

Do not miss the return of The Originals on April 1, 2014 at 8:00/7:00 central on the CW!
