This is a Vampire spin-off from "The Vampire Diaries" based in New Orleans. There are Vampires called "The Originals" - they are vampires that can never be killed or die. They can only be put to "rest" by these special type daggers. Who Klaus (the protagnist) in this show/story are in possession of. There are 7 central characters:

Klaus Michaelson (Original Vampire and is related to Elijah and Rebekah) Klaus is a misunderstood character. He is potentially flawed, complex, layered but deep down as the episodes progressed the writers/tptb showed us he feels, loves and wants and craves unconditional love just like everyone else. All be it, he kills and is at times seems to be a "cold blooded killer" this is the essense of who Klaus is. He loves his family above all else, he seems to be incredibly jealous of what his siblings have as far as potential life partners (love), he forever seeks their approval and is destined to go thru life with them and only them. It would be great to see if this "selfish bond" could be broken. It seems that Elijah is trying to redeem his brother thru the birth of his child by teaching him about "unconditional love". Although, I fear in the process, Elijah has fallen victim to "unconditional love" by falling in love with Hayley, the baby's mother. We are seeing a very complex story written out and at the same time with all the speed bumps, it's leaves us wanting more. The writers and tptb are very talented and skilled at this process. :cheer: They are building up different layers to Klaus' redemption for his child for himself for his family very delicately. I am looking forward to next week's episode.

Elijah Michaelson (Original Vampire) - Elijah is a character that was built on intergrity, honor and drop dead gorgeousness. What can be said. Calgon take me away. :cloud9: He promised, his word that no harm would come to Hayley or her baby and he lived up to it and then some! He took out the head witch Angus, who wanted to kill Hayley and her baby. He snapped the bitches head straight off! "Nobody messes with my family!" were his exact words. Elijah Michaelson, you are my bodyguard! :cloud9: He protected Hayley when she was running in the woods from that crazy, blood thristy, vengeful Tyler (Who was after Klaus technically but went after Hayley? Well The tag team of Elijah/Klaus taught him a lesson that day!) He protected her from so many different situations, the wolves in the bayou, the vampires that wanted to kill her because of Marcel. EJijah is Hayley's man thru and thru. I love the way they are building this couple up. How many almost kisses?

Rebekah Michaelson (Original Vampire) - Ah my dear Rebekah who is so misunderstood by her brother Klaus. Or maybe not? He just doesn't want her to be happy because he isn't happy. Rebekah was in love with Marcel who was human before coming a vampire. BUT, he was in love with Rebekah for a lontime before that. They danced around there feeling for many years. That was until Marcel grew up. He then started to want to act on those feelings, Rebekah wanted him too also. Elijah was happy for them. (Elijah was not like Klaus in that way, don't ask me why maybe because he had loved?) Anyway, Klaus found out about them and made Marcel decide do you want to kill her or become a vampire? Marcel choose the later. He became a vampire. He broke Rebekah's heart. Klaus staked her and put her to sleep I believe for over 50 years. They don't age they don't die "Originals" they just go to sleep when you stake them. She awoke she Marcel, he walked away. Klaus told her he had to teach her a lesson and that she had been asleep for 50 or 60 something years... FF present day, Marcel and Klaus are aligned "tick as thieves again" only this time, Marcel is the "King of New Orleans", we are yet to finf out why the Michaelson fled New Orleans 100 years ago...

Marcel - was a child when taken in by Klaus, he was a slave for a family on an estate close by to theirs, I believe. When Klaus saw Marcel getting beat by the person who was his "owner" (such a degrding term) he interfered, I believe he killed the man; rescued Marcellus (Which meant "Warrior" I believe something like that) because it reminded him of the beating he used to get from there father. Klaus was a "freak of nature" to their father and never accepted by the family (well the father). SO, he endured terrible beating beyond what anyone could compare. He related to Marcellus. He took him in as his own son. A bond was formed. He became part of the family.

Hayley -is a werewolf like Klaus but not a hybrid. Hayley is half human, half werewolf, whereas, Klaus is half vampire, half werewolf. They had a one-night stand which resulted in Hayley becoming pregnant with his child. That is pretty much it between those two, there was no relationship, no feelings, nothing between them, just this baby. Whereas, when Hayley came back to town and met Klaus' brother Elijah. The fireworks began! You could feel the sparks, it was kismet. It was like two old souls that were meant too be together. The scenes between them ever since, have been intense, it reminds me of EJami in a way. They have this "intense chemistry", this "presence", this "force", this "push and pull" between them that cannot be ignored. I will post some montages and clips when I'm done explaining the characters.

Cami - (Cami is Father Kiernan niece and the sister of the guy who was killed in New Orleans. She was compelled by Klaus in order to protect her from knowing too much about what was really going on in New Orleans with the vampires and werewolves. Who are btw, the 2 warring factions.) The ending of the last episode, Cami starts to remember everything! All the memories that Klaus had compelled her to forget started coming back and she was screaming in pain in the church. This is NOT GOOD YAWL!

Davina (Is a powerful young teenage witch being held captive by Marcel until recently, when Elijah promised her protection, freedom and to ability to learn more "powerful spells" from his own mother's grimoire book of spells. Up until this point she was on the vampires side (well she deflected from Marcel's side to Elijah's/Klaus' side because of Elijah and his "honor". As of the last episode we really don't know what happened to her but we think she is with Cami. (NOT GOOD!)

Father Kiernan (He hides the vampires secret in town and Cami is his niece. It is to be believed his nephew went "mad" and killed himself. Klaus is investigating this story and Marcel might have more to do with it then he is letting on.) He is apart of a powerful human counsel in town that controls what goes on.

Sophie Deveraux (Witch) she started the "Witches Harvest" which brought problems for the witches to be expelled from New Orleans to pratice magic. She was working in tandem with Marcel and also sleeping with him. They were what you call "magical powerful friends with benefits" She is still alive and looking to seek revenge and kill Davina to resurrect her dead sister who was a witch. (Who died by the hands of Marcel and the vampires.)

Speaking of spin-offs, Pedowitz also seemed to hint that there might be more Vampire Diaries and Originals cross-over this season, and when asked about the possibility suggested viewers watch TVD‘s upcoming 100th episode (Jan. 23). He also said he’s “bullish” on the odds of The Originals getting a second season, as well as fellow freshman drama Reign. Yet executive used less certain wait-and-see language when discussing Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie. The CW tends to give relatively early renewals to its stronger dramas in the spring, but Pedowitz suggested Beauty and Hart verdicts might not happen until May.

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: for "The Originals"!!!!!

I watch this show (and The Vampire Diaries). The Originals can be killed. There is this special tree that has the power to kill them, but I can't remember if there aren't anymore. Also, if one of the originals dies, then his/her entire line of vampires will die. If they all die, all vampires will die.

I'm team Rebekah btw. I'm sad that Davina is dead though. Hopefully she comes back eventually.

1x11 Apres Moi, Le Deluge Clip

OMG, what an intense build up to so many things in this episode. Where does one start? Davina: My heart was breaking for that poor little girl in last night's episode. All she ever wanted was to be loved and in return she would give it back unconditionally, yes she was a child (in her mind and body) but in so many way she grew up to fast. She needed a guardian(father/older brother figure) but Marcel, Klaus and even Elijah had deceived her, ultimately letting her down in the end. She would make the greatest scarifice of all. :tears:
The effects of her powers were going to end "The French Quarters" and Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah and even Marcel knew they had to do something to fix it before it was all gone. I liked how Marcel and Elijah made it clear that "no harm" could come to the girl but deep down I really don't think people understand Klaus is really not a "monster" like they claim to see him as. He would do what he has to do to protect his family and where he lives but still try and make some kind of effort to save the girl.

Moving onto the betrayal: Elijah as always is determined to get to the root of the problem. He wants to see Sophie Deveraux for some answers but this makes Hayley feel very guilty! Hayley then finally takes Elijah to the side and confesses. (What I don't understand is why she didn't go to him for help in the 1st place. Clearly Elijah has feelings for her and would have done something to satisfy Sophie and clear this problem up.) Hayley tells him everything, she went into his room and read his notes, told Sophie everything, by making a deal with her, she told her where the remains of Celeste's grave was. Elijah was MAD. He leaves and Hayley looks upset. (But why didn't you go to him in the first place, girl? )

Elijah is a very smart man and goes to spy on Sabine and Sophie by the "Witches gravesite" and where Celeste's bones are being held. By burning Celeste's bones, Sophie tells Sabine the four girls could be resurrected.Elijah makes his presence known to the witches and asks to speak to Sophie in private. FIRST TWIST OF THE NIGHT: This is where Elijah shows Sophie the drawing of Celeste that Davina had drawn. :anvil: (Please don't tell me that Sophie Deveraux - the witch who slept with Marcel to overthrow the witches in the French Quarter could be this naive?) Moving on, the city starts to shake again and Sophie tells Elijah that the harvest must be completed or the whole city will be destroyed! :wow: She further goes onto explain to Elijah that one person cannot hold that kind of destruction - earth, wind, water, fire—there won’t be a way to stop it.

What happens next though, well should have been expected. Elijah and Klaus both agree that the "witches harvest" will work and bring the city back to normal. SECOND TWIST: BUT Marcel, doesn't agree and wants to save Davina at all costs, he goes ghost and on them and takes Davina with him. SO, Elijah gets one of the witches to work a locator spell to track Davina down. While Hayley and Klaus to the church (to drop off food to the werewolves). Interesting scene I might add. THIRD TWIST: :wow: Rebekah attempts to form an alliance with Sophie and suggests that once the witches are back to full power that they team up to take Marcel and Klaus down. (I was floored, first Tierry, Davina, now Sophie, whose next?)
Hayley originally wanted to head down to the Bayou to her family but Klaus forbid it. FOURTH TWIST: SO, instead they went to the church where Father Kieran was harboring some werewolves but there were Klaus' family! I have to say I enjoyed their conversation and how supportive Klaus was of "Haylijah's" budding relationship. When Klaus told Hayley "she just try apologizing since one of his greatest attributes is his ability to forgive." I actually enjoy the Klaus/Hayley friendship.

Sophie does the spell but nothing happens! :wow: Elijah thinks maybe they should use there mother's bones in the spell. Although, Rebekah is hesistant to give that much power and disagrees. But once the water stage starts she changes her mind.
What happens next was so sad. Marcel gets Davina to come back and agree to partcipate in the "Witches Harvest". She dies. Nothing happens and Marcel goes berserk! He blames Klaus for everything that has happened to them. Klaus gets really upset and tells him he felt this way once too, when he thought he was dead (Marcel). They hug...
What comes next is so angsty, heart-breaking and made me want to say GIVE ME MORE! #Haylijah  :cloud9:
Haylijah Moment of the night:
"Are you ready to forgive me?" Hayley asks Elijah
"It's not that easy Hayley." Elijah says to Hayley
"Elijah, I was wrong to go thru you're journals, I was wrong to tell Sophie about Celeste. It happened." Hayley says to Elijah
(Elijah takes a deep exhale as they are walking together.)
"After everything that happened today, I can't see why we can't see past this." Hayley says to Elijah
"You of all people should know why. Given my fever in the bayou, you were inside my mind. You know what Celeste means to me." Elijah tells Hayley
(Elijah walks a bit ahead of Hayley)
"Don't you mean meant to you?" Hayley says to Elijah
"No. (He is starring right at Hayley talking now) Do you have any idea how rare love is? In a thousand years I have found it but twice. But when I have I have honored it." Elijah says to Hayley
(Hayley is starring at Elijah like she is going to break down and cry!)
"I know what it means to you. I know what a promise means to you, Elijah. But you made it 200 hundred years ago. I live in the "now" If I feel something, I act. If I want something, I take it. I won't choose the dead over the living, so why are you?" Hayley says to Elijah
(Hayley has tears in her eyes and Elijah is intently starring at her.)
"I'm sorry, Elijah." Hayley says to Elijah
(She walks away.)
(He grabs her by the arm, they are intently starring at each other, like they are going to kiss, they are moving in closer and closer. Elijah backs off! He takes his hand off her face. Hayley starts walking away but walking backwards looking at him the whole time. He looks at her walking away from him. OMG, these two are going to be the death of me!!!!!)

Let me cool down a sec. Rebekah wonders later about who absorbed all that power if the witches didn't? I was floored to the ceiling when it was Sabine that had the power and is now Celeste reincarnated! HOT DAMN!!!!

Great show last night and "The Originals" never cease to amaze for sure! It was so sad to see Davina die though.

The Oak Daggers. I remember because I watched TVD also. If there are no daggers left from that tree though they cannot be killed though. But if you dagger one original with the dagger they all die, (including any vampire they turned in there bloodline, right?) it's part of the spell the mother worked, if I am remembering it correctly? (She thought what the father did was terrible. She wanted to end it by creating the spell and the daggers it was like a "fail safe"?) I love the character of Rebekah also, she is complicated and flawed. All she wants is to be is loved. Yet she is very self-sufficent and independant. #TeamRebekah BUT - I can't believe she is turning against Elijah, I can understand her motives against Marcel and Klaus but I guess I am more partial to Elijah. :cloud9:

Daniella Pineda Teases “The Originals” Future!
Written by Kayla Falls // January 22, 2014

Daniella Pineda Teases “The Originals” Future!

Here is an interview with Daniella Pineda who portray’s our favorite shady witch in New Orleans, Sophie Deveraux. In “The Originals” Sophie is a little iffy. You never know if she’s being genuine and whose side she is on. We understand her reasoning for wanting to complete the harvest but at what cost?

Daniella talks about the joining such a talked about show. She compared joining “The Originals” to being a child to a really famous person and you never know if you’re going to live up to the hype. The shows are similar but very different and she loves that. She loves the people she works with.

When she was asked about the emotional scenes coming up, Klaus was brought up. He’s been having some great scenes showing his softer side and we can expect more of that, especially when it comes to the baby. She jokes, saying good thing Elijah will be a good Uncle, although I think Klaus will make a decent dad when the time comes.

Since Sophie really doesn’t have anything to loose we will see more “badass” Sophie. Daniella hopes that Sophie meets some people to help her fill that empty void within her. So more badass Sophie and witchy scenes for “The Originals” heck yea!

Daniella is really humble when asked about the fans. She knows what it’s like to love a show and go a little crazy over it. Come on fang fans, you know it’s true…you all are passionate and sometimes that’s good sometimes it’s a little overboard. She’s amazed and grateful for the fans.

As for Sophie’s love life, as of now it’s on hold. She’s too busy with witchy stuff and trying to resurrect her niece. Which was super sad in the last episode! We will also get some more wolf scenes! I’m most excited about this, I so want to see more of Klaus and Hayley’s family!

What are you guys looking forward to most in future episodes?

I don't know if you caught this, but Celeste has been in Sabine's body for a year already meaning she was already awake before Sophie found Celeste's remains. This explains why Sabine approached Elijah about love and keeping his promise. It was really Celeste talking to Elijah.

I really like Davina as well. I like her friendship with the gay vampire. I can't remember his name right now. I want Sophie to go away as well.

Yes, the oak daggers. You are correct that if one of the originals is stabbed by the oak dagger (thus killing him/her) then every vampire made in that line will die as well.

I don't really think Rebekah is completely against Elijah. I think she feels as though Elijah loves Klaus more than her and will rescue him before her. That really bothers her because Klaus has done them both wrong and she came to New Orleans to rescue Elijah only for him to choose Klaus over her. It's kind of the same with Marcel. Marcel chose Klaus over her, too.
