This is a Vampire spin-off from "The Vampire Diaries" based in New Orleans. There are Vampires called "The Originals" - they are vampires that can never be killed or die. They can only be put to "rest" by these special type daggers. Who Klaus (the protagnist) in this show/story are in possession of. There are 7 central characters:

Klaus Michaelson (Original Vampire and is related to Elijah and Rebekah) Klaus is a misunderstood character. He is potentially flawed, complex, layered but deep down as the episodes progressed the writers/tptb showed us he feels, loves and wants and craves unconditional love just like everyone else. All be it, he kills and is at times seems to be a "cold blooded killer" this is the essense of who Klaus is. He loves his family above all else, he seems to be incredibly jealous of what his siblings have as far as potential life partners (love), he forever seeks their approval and is destined to go thru life with them and only them. It would be great to see if this "selfish bond" could be broken. It seems that Elijah is trying to redeem his brother thru the birth of his child by teaching him about "unconditional love". Although, I fear in the process, Elijah has fallen victim to "unconditional love" by falling in love with Hayley, the baby's mother. We are seeing a very complex story written out and at the same time with all the speed bumps, it's leaves us wanting more. The writers and tptb are very talented and skilled at this process. :cheer: They are building up different layers to Klaus' redemption for his child for himself for his family very delicately. I am looking forward to next week's episode.

Elijah Michaelson (Original Vampire) - Elijah is a character that was built on intergrity, honor and drop dead gorgeousness. What can be said. Calgon take me away. :cloud9: He promised, his word that no harm would come to Hayley or her baby and he lived up to it and then some! He took out the head witch Angus, who wanted to kill Hayley and her baby. He snapped the bitches head straight off! "Nobody messes with my family!" were his exact words. Elijah Michaelson, you are my bodyguard! :cloud9: He protected Hayley when she was running in the woods from that crazy, blood thristy, vengeful Tyler (Who was after Klaus technically but went after Hayley? Well The tag team of Elijah/Klaus taught him a lesson that day!) He protected her from so many different situations, the wolves in the bayou, the vampires that wanted to kill her because of Marcel. EJijah is Hayley's man thru and thru. I love the way they are building this couple up. How many almost kisses?

Rebekah Michaelson (Original Vampire) - Ah my dear Rebekah who is so misunderstood by her brother Klaus. Or maybe not? He just doesn't want her to be happy because he isn't happy. Rebekah was in love with Marcel who was human before coming a vampire. BUT, he was in love with Rebekah for a lontime before that. They danced around there feeling for many years. That was until Marcel grew up. He then started to want to act on those feelings, Rebekah wanted him too also. Elijah was happy for them. (Elijah was not like Klaus in that way, don't ask me why maybe because he had loved?) Anyway, Klaus found out about them and made Marcel decide do you want to kill her or become a vampire? Marcel choose the later. He became a vampire. He broke Rebekah's heart. Klaus staked her and put her to sleep I believe for over 50 years. They don't age they don't die "Originals" they just go to sleep when you stake them. She awoke she Marcel, he walked away. Klaus told her he had to teach her a lesson and that she had been asleep for 50 or 60 something years... FF present day, Marcel and Klaus are aligned "tick as thieves again" only this time, Marcel is the "King of New Orleans", we are yet to finf out why the Michaelson fled New Orleans 100 years ago...

Marcel - was a child when taken in by Klaus, he was a slave for a family on an estate close by to theirs, I believe. When Klaus saw Marcel getting beat by the person who was his "owner" (such a degrding term) he interfered, I believe he killed the man; rescued Marcellus (Which meant "Warrior" I believe something like that) because it reminded him of the beating he used to get from there father. Klaus was a "freak of nature" to their father and never accepted by the family (well the father). SO, he endured terrible beating beyond what anyone could compare. He related to Marcellus. He took him in as his own son. A bond was formed. He became part of the family.

Hayley -is a werewolf like Klaus but not a hybrid. Hayley is half human, half werewolf, whereas, Klaus is half vampire, half werewolf. They had a one-night stand which resulted in Hayley becoming pregnant with his child. That is pretty much it between those two, there was no relationship, no feelings, nothing between them, just this baby. Whereas, when Hayley came back to town and met Klaus' brother Elijah. The fireworks began! You could feel the sparks, it was kismet. It was like two old souls that were meant too be together. The scenes between them ever since, have been intense, it reminds me of EJami in a way. They have this "intense chemistry", this "presence", this "force", this "push and pull" between them that cannot be ignored. I will post some montages and clips when I'm done explaining the characters.

Cami - (Cami is Father Kiernan niece and the sister of the guy who was killed in New Orleans. She was compelled by Klaus in order to protect her from knowing too much about what was really going on in New Orleans with the vampires and werewolves. Who are btw, the 2 warring factions.) The ending of the last episode, Cami starts to remember everything! All the memories that Klaus had compelled her to forget started coming back and she was screaming in pain in the church. This is NOT GOOD YAWL!

Davina (Is a powerful young teenage witch being held captive by Marcel until recently, when Elijah promised her protection, freedom and to ability to learn more "powerful spells" from his own mother's grimoire book of spells. Up until this point she was on the vampires side (well she deflected from Marcel's side to Elijah's/Klaus' side because of Elijah and his "honor". As of the last episode we really don't know what happened to her but we think she is with Cami. (NOT GOOD!)

Father Kiernan (He hides the vampires secret in town and Cami is his niece. It is to be believed his nephew went "mad" and killed himself. Klaus is investigating this story and Marcel might have more to do with it then he is letting on.) He is apart of a powerful human counsel in town that controls what goes on.

Sophie Deveraux (Witch) she started the "Witches Harvest" which brought problems for the witches to be expelled from New Orleans to pratice magic. She was working in tandem with Marcel and also sleeping with him. They were what you call "magical powerful friends with benefits" She is still alive and looking to seek revenge and kill Davina to resurrect her dead sister who was a witch. (Who died by the hands of Marcel and the vampires.)

The Originals Spoilers: Is Sophie Dead? Is Jackson Gone? Is Mikael Returning?
by Laura Prudom at February 5, 2014 9:00 am. Updated at February 5, 2014 10:24 am.

The twists just keep coming on The Originals, as last night’s shocking installment left our favorite dysfunctional family in a pretty precarious position: Klaus and Rebekah are the clutches of the witches, and Sophie was killed by her resurrected niece Monique's hand. Elsewhere in the hour, Hayley met hunky Crescent werewolf Jackson, who revealed that their families intended them to someday marry and unite their bloodlines, while Elijah chose to save the mom-to-be (and her intended fiancé) from the witches instead of coming to the aid of his siblings after a vicious encounter with his lost (and vengeful) love, the resurrected witch Celeste. So where do we go from here? TV Fanatic was among a group of reporters who sat down with Executive Producer Julie Plec to discuss the fallout from The Originals Season 1 Episode 13 and what’s next for our troubled Original family.

Is Sophie really dead? Yes. After failing to have faith in her cause, Plec said that Sophie’s sudden lack of oxygen seems pretty permanent: “I think that in this particular case, the witches having taken their vengeance against a non-believer, I don’t think there’s much of a hope for her to recover - given that more often than not you need witch intervention to have a second chance at life. This may be the end of Miss Sophie.”

We haven’t seen the last of Jackson... While Hayley was initially a little dubious about her supposed destiny with the beefcake werewolf, we can expect to learn more about him and the Crescent wolves as the season progresses -

“It’s a full moon in this particular episode - there won’t be another full moon for a few more episodes, but this is our first taste of the Crescent wolves, and with luck and schedules in our favor, we’ll be able to have a nice good story with them,” Plec teased. “The final chapter of the season, which begins right around episode 17, definitely brings the werewolves much closer to the front of the line. As the other supernatural factions are trying to figure out their way with each other in the Quarter, suddenly there’s werewolves to be reckoned with as well.”

…And Elijah won’t be too happy about it: "We’ve got another few episodes before we return to the werewolf world, but just this idea of [Hayley’s] attention falling towards these people - and her sense of family unity and family bond drawing her towards them and away from the Originals - is a lot for Elijah to handle,” Plec admitted. “Ultimately, if he’s ever able to stand face-to-face with Jackson, he might be like, ‘hey, wait a second, who’s this guy? Not so sure I like [him].’” (Ah, my #Haylijah angst, what did I say? :cloud9:  )

On the war path: While Plec admitted that there would be a certain amount of “guilt” and “shame” attached to Elijah’s decision to save Hayley instead of Klaus and Rebekah this week, she previewed that it also “drives him very hard to rescue his siblings in the next episode and to try and pull the family back together as it’s under assault.”

Hayley on a mission: Romance isn’t Hayley’s first priority right now either, and Plec promised that her quest to revoke the curse on her family will be “driving her forward a lot, in that she made this promise to this person, and she has this connection to these people that she barely knows, because ultimately it’s the bloodline that she comes from and the pack that she comes from through birth. "So she’s going to be very determined to free them, and ultimately in success of freeing them, then there’s that whole, ‘well, who’s my real family? Who do I belong with and where do I belong the most?’ And of course, her draw towards Elijah is both alluring and also very forbidden, and so we’ll see whether she decides to stick around the Quarter or head out to the bayou.”

Consequences ahead! Plec described the back nine episodes as dealing with “the consequences of having f----d with the Harvest in the first place; the revenge as enacted by these witches; the disintegration of the Original family as a result; and the rebuilding of both the family and the city in the fallout, once the [dust settles from the] domino effect of the witches’ actions. And of course, there’s a baby coming.” Yikes!

Will Caroline head south? Plec wryly admitted that she was afraid someone would scream at her no matter what she said on the subject of Klaus and Caroline’s relationship, but said that both characters have other priorities than reuniting at the moment. “Klaus made a promise that he wouldn’t return, Caroline was very clear that she’s got other plans,” she pointed out. “She’s got some stuff she’s got to deal with, he’s got some stuff he’s got to deal with, so the plans to cross paths with them don’t seem very realistic, but that doesn’t mean, in life, that there aren’t opportunities.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Priestly problems: After being hexed this week, things are looking a little grim for poor Kieran. "We saw what happened to Sean [his nephew] in the past,” Plec noted. “It’s definitely not gonna be an easy thing to overcome.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Cami’s got a part to play: As one of the few humans on the show (one might call her the Matt Donovan of The Originals) Plec said that Cami is being set up to have her own “place at the table” in terms of the ongoing mythology. “Whether she chooses to take it or not will be up to her. Those human characters are so fun to play with because on one hand, ‘just run! Go live in Topeka - Kansas is lovely this time of year,’ but on the other hand, she’s bright and she’s smart and she understands the psychology of the brain and she’s very protective of human nature in general. So it’ll be fun to explore that option for her when we get down the road to it, to see what she will do.”

And now for something completely different: Plec teased that the next episode (airing Feb. 25 after the conclusion of the Winter Olympics) is “really crazy” and “something we’ve never done before.” The episode will take the show outside the French Quarter and will see Rebekah and Klaus trapped in “a creepy, horrible, messed-up sanatorium from back in the day. Genevieve, basically working between the two of them, enacts her revenge and we’ll learn why Genevieve’s revenge is so specifically targeted towards Rebekah and what exactly she’s going to do to make Rebekah suffer as much as possible.”

Flashbacks galore: The Originals Season 1 Episode 12
Spoiler: click to toggle
adding: "Next episode, once the Olympics are over, we definitely get a little flavor of New Orleans at the end of the influenza epidemic of 1919.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Marcel’s next move: Plec noted that
Spoiler: click to toggle
Because in the history of their relationship together, Klaus and Rebekah specifically, they’ve gone back and forth and had so much love and hate and argued and yet stuck together for all these centuries, I wanted to see ‘how will he react to this?’
Spoiler: click to toggle

Never underestimate the witches: Marcel and Rebekah’s choice isn’t the only plot that could rock the Original family to its foundations.
Spoiler: click to toggle

The Originals Spoilers: Celeste Is 'Not A Fan of Halyley'; Hard Time Ahead for Father Kieran

By Robert Christie | Feb 06, 2014 11:59 PM EST

Tuesday's episode of "The Originals" was not a good one for many of the main characters. Rebecca and Klaus were captured. Elijah was literally knocked out by a kiss. Father Kieran was hexed and is now waiting to kill a whole bunch of people and then commit suicide. Sophie was murdered by the same niece who she was happy to see come back to life.

When it comes to the human in that group of individuals, his life is about to get worse.

"It's not pretty. We saw what happened to Sean in the past, his nephew," executive producer Julie Plec said according to EOnline of Father Kieran. "It's definitely not going to be an easy thing to overcome, you know, hexes and dark objects and all that witchy business - sometimes you wonder what's reversible and what isn't, so we'll have to wait and see on that one."

This entire unpleasant ordeal has been orchestrated by Celeste, Elijah's love from many years ago. According to an interview Shannon Kane - who plays Sabine who is actually Celeste - did with Hollywood Life, Celeste's mission has a lot to do with Klaus' older brother.

"She definitely has an agenda, and it is based upon her love affair with Elijah," Kane told Hollywood Life. "Elijah was her one true love, so she's come back to resolve some unfinished business."

Oh, and if you're wondering how Celeste feels about "Haylijah", Kane told the website her character "is not a fan of Hayley."

"The Originals" airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.

The Originals: Official Description For “Long Way Back From Hell”
Posted by: Craig Byrne in The Originals February 6, 2014

"Long Way Back From Hell" is the title of the new episode of The Originals scheduled to air on Tuesday, February 25, and The CW tonight released a description of the episode with some spoilers to promote it.

Here it is:

REBEKAH’S PAST CATCHES UP WITH HER — When Rebekah (Claire Holt) finds herself locked up in the sanatorium where she worked in 1919, she realizes a witch named Genevieve (guest star Elyse Levesque) is back to seek revenge and to reveal dark secrets that would destroy Rebekah if exposed. A distraught Elijah (Daniel Gillies) turns to Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) for help when one of his decisions puts Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Rebekah’s lives in danger. With time working against them, Marcel realizes he may hold valuable information that could lead them to Rebekah and Klaus, but revealing it will almost certainly result in deadly consequences. Matt Hastings directed the episode written by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (#114).

Extended promo video for 1×14 “Long Way Back from Hell”!
Written by Cecelia Lawshe // February 5, 2014

Extended video for The Originals “Long Way Back from Hell” episode!

The extended promotional video for The Originals 1×14 episode, which has now been released and titled “Long Way Back from Hell,” looks like Klaus and Rebekah will be spending the next episode in the hell of an insane asylum.

There hasn’t been a synopsis released, but we do have some words from executive producer Julie Plec about what happened in “Crescent City” and what will happen in “Long Way Back from Hell” when it airs after their Olympics hiatus on February 25th, 2014.

Were you shocked at Sophie’s death? It was particularly sad because she was killed by her niece Monique that she tried so hard to bring back. Really shows how nasty and vindictive these French Quarter witches can be, and now they have Klaus and Rebekah.

Is Sophie, played by Daniella Pineda, really gone for good? Or will she somehow be resurrected in a future episode? Although Julie should know, she only says that it seems as if Sophie is gone for good.

Julie Plec on Sophie’s fate

In this particular case, the witches have taken their vengeance against a non-believer. I don’t think there’s much hope for her to recover, given that, more often than not you need witch intervention to have a second chance at life. So this may be the end of Miss Sophie.

Based on Sophie’s failed efforts to lead the revolution for the witches, she kept coming up against a brick wall. But the bottom line was she didn’t have the right faith in her ability to lead in order to carry if off. She didn’t believe in herself, and she didn’t believe in the Harvest. According to Julie, “When we realized the ultimate consequence of that would be death, we made the decision to go down that road.” But she also said “may” which means Sophie could come back.

According to Julie the next episode will be crazy with the kidnapping of Klaus and Rebekah. That scene where the knife went into Klaus’ chest was amazingly gruesome, and things look like they’ll get even worse.

Julie on the journey into hell

We go outside of the Quarter and we put Rebekah and Klaus into a trap situation in a creepy, horrible, messed-up sanitarium from back in the day. We’ll learn why Genevieve’s revenge is so specifically targeted toward Rebekah and what exactly she’s going to do to make Rebekah suffer as much as possible.

According to a spoiler from TV Guide, Klaus will discover that Rebekah had a hand in summoning their father way back when.

Julie confirmed that the three siblings are definitely being attacked and that the resurrected witches are on a personal mission to destroy them. What they end up doing to the Original family is going to have eternal repercussions for their family relationship. It may no longer be “Always and forever,” especially since forever is a “Hell” of a long time.

Klaus and Rebekah will journey the “Long Way Back from Hell” on Thursday, February 25th, 2014, on The CW!
(There is a typo here it's not Thursday it's Tuesday, Thank the TV Gods!)

When you click on the link you can watch the extended trailer for the next episode! WOOT WOOT! :cheer: :cheer:

So they only have Josh (Steven Krueger) appearing in 10 episodes of "The Originals" this season? He was shown up to "The Casket Girls" in which he did not die. My question is then is he coming back because the writers (Julie Plec/Michael Narducci) didn't elaboarte on the character. Have you heard anything? Since they like to "trick" there viewers, I would say "YES" he is coming back at some point in the season or story.

Well in this particular episode the writer was
Charlie Charbonneau ... (written by) & Michelle Paradise ... (written by)
per imbd.com

Ah, ha.

per imbd.com Steven Krueger (Josh) will be appearing in the following episodes. I am wondering if our friend Davina will be also.

I believe there are 22 episodes this season. (Listed at IMBd.com) Once again is this true or false, I am betting on it to be in the ball park of the right amount of episodes. No show really does a full set of 24 episodes anymore, I have no idea why.

THE CW ANNOUNCES EARLY PICKUPS FOR THE 2014-2015 SEASON

February 13, 2014 (Burbank, California) – The CW Network has ordered early pickups for the 2014-15 season for its hit series ARROW, REIGN, THE ORIGINALS, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and SUPERNATURAL,which will be returning for its tenth season next fall. The series pickups were announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.

“This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series THE ORIGINALS paired with SUPERNATURAL, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is #2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with ARROW continuing to gain among young men, and REIGN growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,” said Pedowitz. “I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.”

The CW’s lineup of breakout freshman hit series THE ORIGINALS and fan favorite SUPERNATURAL has doubled the network’s Tuesday night ratings year-to-year in adults 18-34 (+100%, 1.4 vs. 0.7), grown +150% in adults 18-49 (1.5 vs. 0.6), and gained +88% in total viewers (3.2 million vs. 1.7 million) versus last season. In its ninth season, SUPERNATURAL has seen double-digit increases year-to-year in total viewers and all key demos, and recently had its most watched episodes since 2010.

In its second season, ARROW is The CW’s most-watched series (3.9 million), and is #1 in its time period among men 18-34 (1.4). THE VAMPIRE DIARIES remains the network’s highest-rated show in all key demos in its fifth season, and season to date is ranked #2 in its time period among adults 18-34 (1.8 – tie), and #3 in adults 18-49 (1.8), ahead of ABC and NBC. Season to date, REIGN has improved its time period in total viewers (+4%, 2.35 million) and in women 18-49 (+8%, 1.3).

This season, both ARROW and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES have also seen a 25% jump in digital viewing versus last season, and SUPERNATURAL has seen a huge 57% jump in digital viewing over last year. THE ORIGINALS was also named the most social new series of the fall season by ListenFirst Media.

I noticed something last night. When I re-watched "Après Moi, Le Déluge" 1x11 that they played the same music when Hayley confronted Elijah on betraying his trust. Then they replayed the same song when Davina was dying in the trailer in Marcel's arms. I am wondering if this foreshadows something? Or if I am reading too much into it? Thoughts? Please say I am wrong.

All I keep hearing in my head is Elijah saying from 1x8 "River in Reverse"

"I abandoned him (Klaus) in the name of my own happiness. Celeste paid the price." Elijah says to Hayley

"Why are you trying to put together you're family, when it's so clear one part of it is so broken." Hayley tells Elijah

"To me the very word of broken suggests that something can be fixed. I have all eternity to accomplish one task, my brother's salavation, if I surrender this, tell me what value would I be to my family, to myself, to you're child?" Elijah tells Hayley

Elijah looks into Hayley's eyes.
Hayley puts her hand on top of Elijah's.
"Please, no Hayley, you've seen what happens." Elijah tells Hayley
Elijah grabs her hand and holds it a moment.
Hayley nods her head.
Elijah holds her hand tightly and then lets it go.
He gets out of the car.

OMG! The sheer torture and angst alone drives me crazy.

What I am getting at is he afraid to let Hayley into his heart because of what happened in his past, Celeste, Catherine? He fears his undying devotion to his family will once again be his undoing? That if he let's her in and they are together as a couple, she could be taken from him? Perhaps killed? Perhaps her baby could even be killed? When I saw the same song playing between those two scenes I thought it was some bad foreshadowing of what's ahead. Boy, I hope I'm wrong. If it just keeps them apart for a longer amount of time, what can we do? I just don't want Hayley and her baby to be killed by Celeste. (Because Celeste's hate for Klaus is that deep and so venmous. He killed her/had her killed. Plus now adding in the Elijah factor on Hayley's end - well Celeste has another reason to want to kill Hayley.)

I don't think Hayley and the baby will die. I do think Celeste will try to put Hayley and the baby in danger.

I definitely believe Celeste will try and kill them though. Maybe they won't die but after re-watching that episode and noticing the same song replaying, I was like :wtf: that cannot be good!

That's why I believe Elijah will reveal to Celeste in front of Hayley while trying to save her (or maybe not) --- because "The Originals" will drag the story arc for "Haylijah" out for every drop it's worth. BUT, he would reveal his true feelings of love for Hayley in front of her? In order to save her life by scarificing himself to Celeste. (Possibly the season ending episode - Summer Hiatus!) BUT someone would save him, possibly Hayley? Klaus? Rebekah? Marcel? I don't know who. I sit here and think about the random possibilities.

LABYRINTH features a multi-national and award-winning cast, including John Hurt, Sebastian Stan, Jessica Brown-Findlay, Vanessa Kirby and Tom Felton. The series is an adaption of Kate Mosse's New York Times best-seller and multi-million selling, international hit adventure/thriller novel of the same title.

About LABYRINTH:

In Carcassonne, France, in the year 1209, 17-year-old Alaïs (Jessica Brown-Findlay, "Downton Abbey," "Misfits"), is given a mysterious book by her father; a book which he claims contains the secret of the true Grail. Although Alaïs cannot understand the book's strange words and labyrinth symbols, her father instructs her to protect the book no matter what happens to him. Alaïs realizes that her destiny lies in keeping the secret of the labyrinth safe. Eight centuries later, at an archeological dig in the French Pyrenees, a young volunteer named Alice Tanner (Vanessa Kirby, "The Hour," "Great Expectations") discovers two skeletons in a forgotten cave. Puzzled by the labyrinth symbol carved into the rock, she realizes she's disturbed something that was meant to remain hidden. Somehow, a link to a horrific past - Alice's own past - has been revealed.
