This is a Vampire spin-off from "The Vampire Diaries" based in New Orleans. There are Vampires called "The Originals" - they are vampires that can never be killed or die. They can only be put to "rest" by these special type daggers. Who Klaus (the protagnist) in this show/story are in possession of. There are 7 central characters: Klaus Michaelson (Original Vampire and is related to Elijah and Rebekah) Klaus is a misunderstood character. He is potentially flawed, complex, layered but deep down as the episodes progressed the writers/tptb showed us he feels, loves and wants and craves unconditional love just like everyone else. All be it, he kills and is at times seems to be a "cold blooded killer" this is the essense of who Klaus is. He loves his family above all else, he seems to be incredibly jealous of what his siblings have as far as potential life partners (love), he forever seeks their approval and is destined to go thru life with them and only them. It would be great to see if this "selfish bond" could be broken. It seems that Elijah is trying to redeem his brother thru the birth of his child by teaching him about "unconditional love". Although, I fear in the process, Elijah has fallen victim to "unconditional love" by falling in love with Hayley, the baby's mother. We are seeing a very complex story written out and at the same time with all the speed bumps, it's leaves us wanting more. The writers and tptb are very talented and skilled at this process. They are building up different layers to Klaus' redemption for his child for himself for his family very delicately. I am looking forward to next week's episode. Elijah Michaelson (Original Vampire) - Elijah is a character that was built on intergrity, honor and drop dead gorgeousness. What can be said. Calgon take me away. He promised, his word that no harm would come to Hayley or her baby and he lived up to it and then some! He took out the head witch Angus, who wanted to kill Hayley and her baby. He snapped the bitches head straight off! "Nobody messes with my family!" were his exact words. Elijah Michaelson, you are my bodyguard! He protected Hayley when she was running in the woods from that crazy, blood thristy, vengeful Tyler (Who was after Klaus technically but went after Hayley? Well The tag team of Elijah/Klaus taught him a lesson that day!) He protected her from so many different situations, the wolves in the bayou, the vampires that wanted to kill her because of Marcel. EJijah is Hayley's man thru and thru. I love the way they are building this couple up. How many almost kisses? Rebekah Michaelson (Original Vampire) - Ah my dear Rebekah who is so misunderstood by her brother Klaus. Or maybe not? He just doesn't want her to be happy because he isn't happy. Rebekah was in love with Marcel who was human before coming a vampire. BUT, he was in love with Rebekah for a lontime before that. They danced around there feeling for many years. That was until Marcel grew up. He then started to want to act on those feelings, Rebekah wanted him too also. Elijah was happy for them. (Elijah was not like Klaus in that way, don't ask me why maybe because he had loved?) Anyway, Klaus found out about them and made Marcel decide do you want to kill her or become a vampire? Marcel choose the later. He became a vampire. He broke Rebekah's heart. Klaus staked her and put her to sleep I believe for over 50 years. They don't age they don't die "Originals" they just go to sleep when you stake them. She awoke she Marcel, he walked away. Klaus told her he had to teach her a lesson and that she had been asleep for 50 or 60 something years... FF present day, Marcel and Klaus are aligned "tick as thieves again" only this time, Marcel is the "King of New Orleans", we are yet to finf out why the Michaelson fled New Orleans 100 years ago... Marcel - was a child when taken in by Klaus, he was a slave for a family on an estate close by to theirs, I believe. When Klaus saw Marcel getting beat by the person who was his "owner" (such a degrding term) he interfered, I believe he killed the man; rescued Marcellus (Which meant "Warrior" I believe something like that) because it reminded him of the beating he used to get from there father. Klaus was a "freak of nature" to their father and never accepted by the family (well the father). SO, he endured terrible beating beyond what anyone could compare. He related to Marcellus. He took him in as his own son. A bond was formed. He became part of the family. Hayley -is a werewolf like Klaus but not a hybrid. Hayley is half human, half werewolf, whereas, Klaus is half vampire, half werewolf. They had a one-night stand which resulted in Hayley becoming pregnant with his child. That is pretty much it between those two, there was no relationship, no feelings, nothing between them, just this baby. Whereas, when Hayley came back to town and met Klaus' brother Elijah. The fireworks began! You could feel the sparks, it was kismet. It was like two old souls that were meant too be together. The scenes between them ever since, have been intense, it reminds me of EJami in a way. They have this "intense chemistry", this "presence", this "force", this "push and pull" between them that cannot be ignored. I will post some montages and clips when I'm done explaining the characters. Cami - (Cami is Father Kiernan niece and the sister of the guy who was killed in New Orleans. She was compelled by Klaus in order to protect her from knowing too much about what was really going on in New Orleans with the vampires and werewolves. Who are btw, the 2 warring factions.) The ending of the last episode, Cami starts to remember everything! All the memories that Klaus had compelled her to forget started coming back and she was screaming in pain in the church. This is NOT GOOD YAWL! Davina (Is a powerful young teenage witch being held captive by Marcel until recently, when Elijah promised her protection, freedom and to ability to learn more "powerful spells" from his own mother's grimoire book of spells. Up until this point she was on the vampires side (well she deflected from Marcel's side to Elijah's/Klaus' side because of Elijah and his "honor". As of the last episode we really don't know what happened to her but we think she is with Cami. (NOT GOOD!) Father Kiernan (He hides the vampires secret in town and Cami is his niece. It is to be believed his nephew went "mad" and killed himself. Klaus is investigating this story and Marcel might have more to do with it then he is letting on.) He is apart of a powerful human counsel in town that controls what goes on. Sophie Deveraux (Witch) she started the "Witches Harvest" which brought problems for the witches to be expelled from New Orleans to pratice magic. She was working in tandem with Marcel and also sleeping with him. They were what you call "magical powerful friends with benefits" She is still alive and looking to seek revenge and kill Davina to resurrect her dead sister who was a witch. (Who died by the hands of Marcel and the vampires.) Edited by EjamiShipper, Jan 12 2014, 04:37 PM.

The Originals "Long Way Back From Hell" 1x14 It was a mixture of a whole different bunch of elements for me. We had the betrayal aspect, (featured heavily) the brutuality aspect, the crazy aspect, damage aspect. Then you mix that into a whole bunch of bitter witches with a hard on for Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah - you get quite an interesting look into what happened in 1919. The show started off with Rebekah, covered in werewolf bites (venom) and hallunicating like crazy. (I guess that is the side effect of a wolf biting a vampire. BUT I thought somehow being an "Original Vampire" the bite would not effect them as bad but so goes that lore.) We see Rebekah's seeing dead people and lots of blood. Oh, yeah and Genevieve back from the dead! Interesting enough we find out that both Rebekah and Genevieve were nurses in that hospital ward. (I had a hard time picturing a witch and a vampire being ones but anyway. ) She (Rebekah) figured out who Genevieve was pretty fast by those treatments she was giving the patients. Marcel did intrigue me though and I should have remembered from that past episode, he'd be the one who'd want the witch. He was the one who wanted to be free to love Rebekah without any interference. Of course, Rebekah didn't have any disagreements to this. He suggested they go to the witch that could remove the spell basically "so they could be together forever". I definitely enjoyed how Rebekah and Marcel had the whole "star crossed lovers" thing going. (It kind of reminded me of another couple on this show. *cough* *Elijah and Hayley*) Rebekah was iffy on faking the funk on being friends with the witch though. (If she only knew what was coming down the road!)Meanwhile, Monique was busy burying Sophie after killing her in the name of not being a "true believer" in grimoire/black magic. However, Elijah had other plans. He was desperate to find his siblings. Monique told him that to find Klaus and Rebekah, he’d had to follow the path “she” (Celeste) left behind, which were witchy tattooed names on his body! Oh and boy were those tattoos enjoyable to look at and droolworthy. and swoonworthy, I felt like I was going to pass the out. (But in a good way of course.) Elijah has a smoking hot body and I look forward to any upcoming love scenes he has in the near future. Take it off. Elijah went to Marcel for help and Hayley came along. Like Elijah, Marcel wanted both Rebekah and Klaus back. (Yes!) According to Marcel, the tattoos were a riddle. When solved the writings disappear. However, the longer they played, the more Klaus and Rebekah suffered. They were going thru some hellacious torture at the sanitarium. What was even crazier - for the first time in forever, Klaus wasn’t the prime person the witches were after. Genevieve wasn’t seeking any vengeance on Klaus because he never did anything to her. All she wanted was for him to learn the truth. And that he did…. oh boy, did he ever!!! The truth would not set Klaus free, it would only make him more venomous. This is exactly what Genevieve and Celeste wanted. A fractured Mikaealson family. They were no longer "always and forever". Klaus already knew that Marcel and Rebekah had been sneaking around for centuries, but he didn’t know the lengths they tried to reach to be together — in fact, they once conspired to rid themselves of Klaus forever! In order for Klaus to truly see Rebekah’s betrayal, Genevieve linked his mind to Rebekah’s. (We knew this wouldn’t end well…) Apparently, Genevieve had a crush on Klaus back in the old days. However, Rebekah was preoccupied with having Genevieve help her do one thing: Find Mikael (there father - the vampire killer)! Yeah, you know, Klaus’s father who hated Klaus and tried to kill him for eons upon eons. Yeah him. She was worried about Marcel and only Marcel, didn't she even bring up setting her up with her brother Kol? She wanted Klaus! Not Kol. Elsewhere in NOLA, Marcel and Elijah went on a mission to find that guy who had a death ledger of all the supernatural species. They needed to find one mysterious name, Brynn Devereaux, that had magically appeared on Elijah’s body. All of the other names “tattooed” on Elijah were witches who died by their own hand, except for Brynn’s. (Because she was a nurse in the same santorium as Rebekah and Genevieve! And she died in what? 1919 of influenza! BOO YA!) It got worse because, Klaus wanted to see more proof of Rebekah and Marcel’s treachery, which coincided with Marcel’s trip down memory lane. Klaus forced a flashback of Genevieve enacting the spell to find Mikael for Marcel and Rebekah! However, Rebekah soon had a change of heart — she wanted Genevieve to undo the spell. Genevieve realized she had been used by Rebekah and was majorly pissed, but Rebekah couldn’t let Genevieve spill the beans, so she infected Genevieve and Clara (aka Brynn aka Celeste) with influenza. Genevieve died horribly, but Clara was just a host body for Celeste, so she ended up pulling a Katherine (shout out to TVD! ) and body-swapped her way back to life.Celeste then warned everyone that familial love plagues the Original family, so the bonds were bound to be severed. I mean, the crazy lady spoke nothing but the truth. Klaus was understandably pissed, but upon being released, he still went straight for Rebekah. Hence "The wrath of Klaus" once again. Klaus wanted to really punish Rebekah. He wasn’t just going to put her in a coffin for centuries, he wanted to stab her with the knife that would immobilize her with pain. They fought, and Rebekah got a few good swings in, but she was obviously no match for the Klaus. Marcel rushed to the scene to help, but was of no use — 200-year-olds, emIright? Here’s where the shock came in — before Klaus got the chance to stab Rebekah, Elijah came up from behind and stabbed Klaus with the dagger! (I was litterally screaming from my bed, "What the HELL just happened?" Klaus you stay away from Elijah! Because I will come for you're ass." BUT - How’s that for brotherly/sisterly love? This changes everything. Everything. I honestly don’t know how Klaus, Rebekah and Elijah can ever truly get over this. Celeste was right: The bond of the brothers has been drastically cut. Wait until Klaus find out about Elijah saving Hayley over him and Rebekah. You want to talk about getting BENT, I sense a major war of the brothers/egos coming on. Lawd, I don't want it to be this way. They are edging up the drama, pairings and really cementing the backstory. A huge kudos to Julie Plec and her writers. I think what bothered me about the beginning of the episode was it didn't feel like The Originals. It felt like The Originals trying to be American Horror Story. CW, UPN, and The WB shows are/were notorious for doing episodes like this and it really annoys me when they do. As for Rebekah's reaction to the bites, as much as I wasn't into it, it does make sense for her to hallucinate that bad because when Elijah was bit (scratched?) by Tyler, he had dreams and hallucinations of Celeste. Hayley could see them as well. Rebekah was bitten by many werewolves so that's probably why it was so extreme for her. I like Marcel and Rebekah and I think I realized why (at this point) I can't root for Klaus. He's mighty and does really bad things, but at his core, he's a little bitch. Excuse my language. lol. It's there though. Klaus wants all the attention and love from everyone, but he can't dish it out from those he expects it from. If he hadn't been so cruel to Rebekah and Marcel, would they have concocted this plan to be rid of him so they could be happy? It's really sad that Rebekah (the little sister) couldn't go through with the plan because she didn't want to lose her big brother. He has this power over her and Marcel and eventually they will need to break free. Until Klaus realizes he can't always control his family, but love them instead, he will always be a little bitch. I miss Kol. I wish he would come back. And even though it's what Celeste wanted, I'm glad Elijah took Klaus down. Klaus needs to wake up and see he is being played. He's so blind at how influenced he can be. I'm surprised you didn't mention Hayley knocking out Celeste in the end. |

Since I have never watched American Horror Story, I can't say I understand what you are saying by this comparison. But I thought this episode was different from the others but-non-the-less very good. I did enjoy it. It was more of a backstory episode explaining, the whole Genevieve/Rebekah/Marcel/Brynn/Klaus "1919" s/l and also the Rebekah/Marcel lovestory better. I actually totally forget about Hayley knocking Celeste out at the end. I get so overwhelmed writing these recaps sometimes. (It's a lot of information for my brain to process trying to remember all the details). That was a VERY IMPORTANT ONE THOUGH! I felt like that was payback for Celeste poisoning Elijah with that kiss. BUT wait did Hayley even know about that? I don't think she did yet. But payback non-the-less. Hayley is angry and jealous of Celeste and wants to make her pay for reeking all of this havoc on them. (The death of Davina, the witches harvest, bringing back Papa Tunde, trying to kill Rebekah, trying to destroy Klaus (even though he is a dick at times, he is still the father of her child, she feels the need to protect "the family" - she is starting to reminding me of Elijah in this way - this strong bond to want to protect the "family" at all costs. Oh and yes -- her strong feelings of love she is feeling for Elijah that cannot be reciporated because he feels everyone he loves ends up dead). I can still root for Klaus because he is bad at his core but you can see him conflicted. (Trying to find the goodness in his heart deep down inside.) For instance, he went with Hayley to the church to give food to his relatives (the wolf side of his brethen) and make sure they were safe and protected from the vampires. Plus, he also offered her advice about Elijah, "by saying sorry to Elijah's greatest attribute. He will forgive you." Now, if Klaus was a real douchebag and didn't want his baby's mama with his brother, he would have told her to stay away from Elijah, he is a jerk off, a looser, right? He would have never followed her to the church to make sure she was safe and okay? He was also making sure his werewolf clan/side of his family had safehaven and food during the (Davina storm Episode 1x11 "Après Moi, Le Déluge") Hiding them from Marcel and protecting them. Do you see where I am going with this? I think Klaus' problem is that the people he loves the most tend to hurt him the most. His father, beat him unmercifully and wanted to basically kill him, while his brother Elijah stood by and did nothing. His mother could not protect him and tried to kill all the "Original vampires" in "TVD" didn't she with that spell? (If I am remembering correctly). Rebekah has tried to break free from him because he has this "controlling/obsessive" hold over her for many centuries. Is it because he is scared to loose her? Because she is the only 1 who hasn't betrayed him that he has known of up until this point. (Well now we know that she was conspiring with Marcel to bring back Mikeal her father the "vampire killer" in 1919 but you get my point.) Because of these reasons I cannot root against him and dislike his character, I kind of feel like I am in Elijah's shoes. BTW - when Elijah was bit by Klaus, as punishment for taking Hayley's side, not Klaus and Elijah being Hayley's "savior", then Klaus bit him. It wasn't Tyler. He (Tyler) tried to bite Hayley at the cabin, but she ran from him and Elijah found her in the woods, remember? Then Klaus met up with them and said he would punish Tyler, do you remember now? The Originals 1x17 press release for "Moon Over Bourbon Street"! UNNATURAL ALLIANCES — After accusing Klaus (Joseph Morgan) of doing nothing while their control over the Quarter crumbles, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) makes a move to take matters into his own hands. He receives an intriguing offer of support from Francesca (guest star Peta Sergeant), a beautiful woman from a powerful New Orleans family. In an attempt to bring the warring factions of the city together, the Mikaelsons throw an extravagant party, where Klaus offers Jackson (guest star Nathan Parsons) a tempting deal, Elijah and Hayely share a dance, and a violent fight comes to a surprising end. Finally, even as Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) works on a new path to power, he continues to help Cami (Leah Pipes) deal with her Uncle Kieran's tragedy (guest star Todd Stashwick). Michael Robinson directed the episode written by Michelle Paradise & Christopher Hollier (#117). More Updates/Source: http://theoriginalscw.com/ This sounds like such a GOOD episode! I cannot wait to watch it.
