The Land of Whirlpools (渦の国, Uzu no Kuni) is where Kushina Uzumaki originates from. The surname Uzumaki was very common in this country. It was located on an island off of the coast of the Land of Fire. After Naruto Uzumaki's reign of peace was ensued, the scattered remains of the Uzumaki clan and previous citizens of Uzu no Kuni reclaimed their land, believing it to now be safe to reveal their presence and rebuild their village and home.

Resides in the Land of Fire and is a fair distance from Konoha. It is a lively town that attracts many adults because of its gambling opportunities and fine women. Much of the Search for Tsunade Arc takes place in or around Tanzaku Quarters at the same time that a festival is going on. The Tanzaku Castle (短冊城, Tanzaku-jō) was a popular tourist attraction, but it is destroyed by Orochimaru during the arc.
