I am releasing the official rules for the forums today, please abide by these. The Moderators and Administrators will be abiding by these rules along with enforcing them.

The Rules Of Novic Hotel Forums

Customizable Field Violations: Using offensive terms and language in a signature, avatar, username, blog, photo or status. This also applies to using a Swastika or other offensive and or pornographic image in an account's photo or avatar, huge images used in an account's photo or avatar may also be deleted. Note that malicious use of any human or racial terms in any piece of text on a profile is expressly forbidden.

Pretending to be a member of staff by using "MOD" "ADMIN" or any other form of staff in your name is also disallowed, it is also forbidden to place "I am a MOD" or "I am an ADMIN" in any piece of text at all. This can be seen on "Impersonating a member of staff" below.

Griefing : Harassing an account/user because of what they did or said. This is specifically forbidden in private messages and thread/topic posts. If you receive abusive private message , save them and send them or a decent quality screenshot to Moderator or higher. If you see an abusive post or thread please report it in the "Report A User" section of "The Forum".

Impersonation: Any attempt to impersonate another account, including attempting to hack an account's password. The hosts of this forum will also be likely to get on your back.

* Passing accounts from one player to another is legal but risky, as any negatives associated with the prior player are inherited by the new player.

*Impersonating a member of staff is a deletion offense, often for the puppet master as well. Be advised that this also means including the word "MOD" or "ADMIN" in your account name counts as an impersonation and the account will be deleted. Impersonating a member of staff also means that if you were to to compile the words "is a" or "I am a(n)" and "MOD" or "ADMIN" would be classified as Impersonating a member of staff. This also includes copying and using the "Administrator" or "Moderator" badges given to staff, if they are used in a profile picture it will be immediately removed and you will gain a warning and possibly a ban if it continues, the badges are gave out to differentiate Administrators from Moderators and members.

Staff As Weapons : Attempting to use a member of staff as a weapon is a serious offense and will not be took lightly, threatening to "ban" another account if they do not do an action or had posted against what you'd want them to do is classified as using a member of staff as a weapon, it is also considered "Impersonation of a member of staff".

Account Hijacking : Stealing someone else's account by gaining their password. This should be reported by the "Report A User" area of "The Forum".

Obscenities : Sexually graphic images in avatar's or profile pictures are strictly forbidden, obscene account names or placing them in text forms on a signature, status or other is also forbidden.

Offsite Links : Whilst they are valid, you are responsible for any link's you may follow. If you follow a link that is obscene, insulting or harmful to your machine or device you can report it in the "Report A User" section in "The Forum".

Spamming :

Spamming is very annoying and is not taken lightly, this means that if you are to post random or off topic posts just to boost your post count you will gain an infraction, ALL posts must stay ON TOPIC at all times, unless they are just in the chat area.

Spamming the "Shoutbox" located on the bottom section of the forums is also prohibited, please wait a respectable amount of time before re-posting.

Account Spamming : If you continuously create an account and spam in any way or form you will receive an IP ban, some of you may even be pathetic enough if you've been banned on one account and create another account to sabotage the forums.

Taking "places" in a thread is also classified as spam, as many of you who use forums or not or read an online newsletter you will often see people posting "FIRST" or others such as "FIRST PAGE" or "SECOND". This will be classified as spam and will not be taken lightly, you will gain a warning note on your account that will not rise your warn level. Your second offense your warn level will rise and you will gain another warning note.

Please note that these rules are the official rules until the date of or when a member of staff creates a new rule set. Members of staff please note that you may not post a new rule set unless you type it up and telegram me a pre-copy of the thread and I approve of it.

The excessive use of capitals or punctuation is also considered to be spamming.

Reporting :

Sometimes reporting can get a little bit out of hand and people continuously report the same person over and over again, if you have something against a user and they have already been recently reported. Please do not report them again simply post another report layout in a reply and report them there, that way you make it easier for a member of staff to gain evidence against said user.

However if you see a week old (or older) report about a user that has also been locked you must go ahead and create a new report about the user, remember to use the correct layout and the correct grammar (that means if you're not good with your spelling, use spell checker) please do not think "ah well, the staff should be able to read that" as it will be declined straight away.

Reporting a member of staff is allowed and in some cases if someone has been abused by a member of staff or insulted you will be too afraid to report them in case you would get banned. However that would make the game unfair if your experience has been ruined and is continuously being ruined by a member of staff and you can report them and can get them demoted from their position. Just report them how you would report any normal user.

If you are being annoyed by a fellow member or they are breaking the rules please do not post on the same thread and whine/caps rage about them, it will in fact get you in trouble as well. You will need to follow the correct way to report a user ; by visiting the "Report A User" section in "The Forum" you can then see the thread that I have pinned that will explain to you how to report a user in the correct format. If you are still having trouble reporting someone you can Private Message an Administrator or Moderator for further assistance.

So, now you have access to the guide to prevent being banned, abide by these rules and you should have a great time!
