I was watching "The Wild" with my kids today, and thought the Zoo in the movie was pretty cool. It inspired me to start my new zoo. I will say that this zoo is NOT a copy of the one in the movie, as there isn't enough shown, but the name "NY ZOO" and the lion in the logo I thought was cool. So I am setting about to make the most realistic zoo I can with what is available for downloads. I will be making a lot of personal downloads to get a real feeling of the zoo. Perhaps at the end, I will decide to release the ones I can. That said, onto the story, and teaser entrance shots. NY Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the United States. First opened in 1903 as a public recreation area. Slowly, the park received donations and state grants to add animals to the park. The first area of the park was a small petting area. As the demand grew for more animals, the zoo also grew. It now includes many animals from all over the world, and is now part of the National Association for Zoos and Aquariums! Still holding some of it's old charm, the zoo is always renovating and creating more natural exhibits for it's animals. It's not uncommon to have whole sections of the zoo closed for maintenance. Luckily, this zoo is so big, there is always something to see. Patrons pay as they enter the zoo parking lot, omitting the need for pay booths at the historic gates. (please remember this entrance is not finished) ![]() ![]() ![]() I will be taking all the time I need to create this zoo. It may also be that I have to use more than one map to reduce lagging. I am attempting to make this my biggest zoo yet. This building will house the zoo security staff and first aid station (have to finish signs) ![]() ![]() The zoo is so big, the security force got their own cars. ![]() If you build it, they will come (fun with guest statues) ![]() Some new signs for the park ![]() Why didn't I think of these for the 20th century zoo contest?? DOH! ![]() Started a bit of exhibit contstruction. To minimize slow down, I will only be adding animals for pictures when the zoo is complete (at least that's the plan.. lol ) This exhibit is the first exhibit guests see once they walk through the gates. ![]() ![]() Looking to the right, we see a lot of construction going on. Wonder what's going there?? ![]() |
