This is nothing like Game of Thrones! GOT has intrigue, betrayal, violence and intimidation! This is an election!

The Election

I sat down with a number of nationstates luminaries to get their impressions of the elections currently underway in the region. Osiris is in day two of a four day election, and the three candidates, Lord Ravenclaw, Hileville, and Cameron M. Romefeller have been campaigning hard. With such a variety of candidates, I thought I'd ask all three of them a simple question, Why did you decide to run for Pharaoh?

For Cameron, the answer came easily, "I want to be Pharaoh for the purpose of making Osiris a better place for all, in essence, to make it a beacon of light and culture to NS."

And Ravenclaw sat back, took a moment to think, and told me, "Why did I decide to run? I have one of the longest service records in Osiris; I have served the Pharaoh loyally for a very long time, and done a lot of work for the regions foreign policy and affairs department. It feels almost like a natural progression after so long."

Hileville responded in a similar vein, "I decided to run for Pharaoh because I really like the direction the region is going. We have worked closely together to build a foundation that I believe I will lead to much success. I want to have a more hands on approach at continuing to make Osiris a great and welcoming region. I believe my experience in GCR politics will allow for the biggest expansion of the foundation that has been built.

See, it's a metaphor about how Milo couped and then went back in time and changed everyone's perceptions of it. I'm deep.

Back to the Future

And it seems that the optimism is spreading. Just today, Lazarus posted a statement to Osiris that officially recognized the OFO government. I asked Milograd, currently the delegate of Lazarus why their position had changed, and he had this to say, "It never really "changed. We just needed time to a) give the OFO time to show its colors b) get a feel for our stances c) ensure that we didn't get caught up in the heat of the moment. Though, of course, I see the election of a new delegate and the peaceful transition from one delegate to the next as a major milestone for Osiris, along with the passing of their constitution. I extend my congratulations to Osiris on that,"

You know what happens when you don't comment? I have to interview UNIBOT. Nobody wants that!

Do you seriously not get how this works yet?

Of course, if we're going to talk about "getting caught up in the heat of the moment", we have to spend at least a little time asking Spiritus's opinion. After their snap decision to oppose the OFO in December, I was curious as to their current position after the recent developments, sadly while I'd like to include a quote from them here, after contacting both Tim and Wuufu, I was rebuffed and told "no comment".

Afterwards, I looked to another highly regarded member of the Defenderverse for a comment, and Unibot was glad to talk to me, "I think the elections are the genuine article. I think OFO does want to show the world it can be a legitimate government with free and fair elections. The candidates are all good choices. Likewise, any commentator who thinks under the former government that The Empire would have allowed for fairer elections is almost surely wrong. This is probably a step in the right direction towards a stable political society in Osiris's future,"

Though to be fair, Koth's never shot anyone in the face. That we know of.

The Middle

After that praise, I took a moment to ask Koth his opinion on these elections, to see if they gelled with the ideas put forth by his possible replacements and opponents, he had this to say, "The elections are a huge deal for the Osiris Fraternal Order, no doubt. People on the outside looking in are expecting big things from the leadership. But some people still have this thought in their head that we are gonna end up as tyrants. For those people... these elections are the middle finger. They show the world that Osiris is ready to move on. We've done our job and we're comfortable enough in our new government to let it run itself. It doesn't need us to babysit it."

INSERT JOKE COMPARING LEADING CANDIDATE TO CHARLIE SHEEN HERE.
Crap. Did I leave that in?

Majority

So that's Osiris these days in a nutshell. Stable, secure, and satisfied with the progress it's made. As of this writing LordRavenclaw has 62% of eligible voters supporting his candidacy. If his lead holds, and once elections conclude on the 24th, he will likely be the newest in a long line of Pharaohs.
