The following should be considered an addition to the OOC rules of the guild: 1. There is a difference between light-hearted banter and bullying. 'Banter', in this context, is defined as being 'light-hearted mocking that is not intended or expected to cause offence'. Therefore, if x makes a joke at y's expense, this is no crime. However, if X makes said joke knowing y us likely to be offended, then this has crossed the line into bullying even if x doesn't believe y's offence to be justified. People are not obliged to justify their feelings. That being said, people should deal maturely and responsibly to things that offend them genuinely unintentionally. 2. Where Bullying IS found, it will be dealt with harshly. Additionally, any sexist, racist, homophobic material or that discriminatory to the disabled said in /gchat or skype chat will be responded to with sanctions. I may not have more power than a /gkick; but it would shame me to use less. 3. There has been concerns regarding 'cliqueyness' in the guild. For clarity: I have published my Skype name within the guild information. People are welcome to contact me and encouraged to take part. Hopefully, with these new guidelines, we can deal with the problems raised within the conversations. Equally, we'll be putting more emphasis on /gchat and this forum in order to ease reliance on Skype. I hope, with these clarifications, that we can put these problems behind us. From Terrestra |
