Please visit the Old Hispanic Office webpage for a list of upcoming concerts related to the project http://www.bristol.ac.uk/arts/research/oho-project/related-concerts/ My work, Myisi, was inspired by the Palm Sunday ritual (as outlined in the manuscript Leon 8). It is a multimedia work that recreates some of the ritual's key events. It will be performed at the Tete a Tete opera festival in London on 26th July. Edited by LithaEfthymiou, May 11 2015, 11:14 AM.

Thank you for your reply. I do, indeed, have examples of my work on the internet, but not for the multimedia piece that will take place in July, as the music for this is still being composed. There will be video footage for you to view once the performance has taken place. If you click on the link below you will be able to listen to excerpts of my music. The piece that is most relevant is 'Moon to Earth' , which was written for Bristol's schola cantorum about a year ago. In this piece I started to explore ideas associated with space within the Palm Sunday ritual. I hope this helps. http://www.efthymiou.co.uk/Listen/Listen_to_Lithas_music/ Edited by LithaEfthymiou, May 11 2015, 11:13 AM.

Please also take a listen to my violin duet (http://www.efthymiou.co.uk/Listen/Listen_to_Lithas_music/). In the last year I have been looking in detail at one particular ritual in the manuscript known as Leon 8: the Palm Sunday ritual. This ritual, which took place one week before Easter, was intended to prepare children for baptism. It was a ritual that marked the first step of initiation into the church. My violin duet has been inspired by the underling theme of initiation inherent in the Palm Sunday ritual. In this piece I not only wanted to represent the process of initiation into the church, but also allude to the different steps within other processes of initiation that exist today i.e. cultural initiation, which is particularly rife in cities like Bristol and London. One way in which I attempted to do this is through the use of part of an OH melody that forms the basis of the work. In my piece I have started by very gradually introducing this melody into the music of the first movement, before allowing it to fully overtake the music by movement three, in an attempt to metaphorically depict the idea of full assimilation into the church and, indeed, any group, gang or society. Please note that the piece is in three movements, but the the link above only includes an excerpt of the first movement. Edited by LithaEfthymiou, May 11 2015, 11:13 AM.
