Ok, I'm hydroxy. I code using GameMaker, I know its a basic tool, but some amazing things can be done with it. I'm not greatly artistically talented, but I can make some decent sprites. I'm coding my a simple GameMaker game now, its about 70% done, I may need some coding and artistic help with it soon, that's mainly why I'm here. Check out my game at the link below. If you're interested in helping me with it, make a post below.

Yea game maker is for noobs that have no knowledge of programming lol. Besides people like you of course which like to get down to the fun stuff like GML.

The GML syntax looks fairly similar to c++, so i think i could possibly help you with your project.

I've never used game maker, but the others might help :) Game looks great by the way. I love the blue block sprite, haha.

I hope someone can help you. I'm no use for ya, I've never opened game maker before. I use tools that I'm used to myself. My main goal here is to finish the Omega 7 project, and help artists who don't have a means of creating games create games. More or less if you could draw, and make sprites, but didn't know how to make a game, then I could help ya :)

Creating the omega project with other team memebers is fun, but I can't draw lol. likewise I'm here to help drawers, who can't program :)

I don't share josh's view on game maker either, lmao...I think mmf2 is the best thing sence sliced bread.

He must be a purest or something...I kind of look at it like, it's not the tools you use, but how well you use the tools, lol

Sorry for the late reply, busy last night with some partying. I'm back nice and refreshed now though

Yeah, GM like any other tool, can be useless if used incorrectly and amazing if used correctly

I'd be up for anyone joining in to help on my project, I think GM would be easy to pick up especially if you have previous experience with other programming software

I'm going to update my devblog later today (visit via the link in my signature). If you think you can contribute anything feel free to volunteer. Any help no matter how small is still useful to me

Another reason why I can't see that an engine would be for a newb is if you use unity, cryengine, or even UDK you're still using an engine..they're 3d engines.

you could say game maker, MMf2, Game Factory are 2d engines. They're the udks, and unities of the 2d gaming world.

some are better than others, but using one doesn't really make someone a newb, lol.

if that were the case it would be the same for any of the 3d engines.
