Hmm. This was a peculiar situation indeed. The S.S. Emerald, Carrot's magnificent sea faring vessel, had somehow arrived at the shores of a lush tropical island during his nap. The confusing part was that Carrot couldn't find the island anywhere on his charts. He held his map of East Blue in front of him, and scanned through it for the third time. None of the islands shown matched the contour of this one, and it wouldn't make sense for him to have reached an island considering the direction in which he had been heading when he first dozed off. Oh well, being such a naturally amazing navigator and magnet for adventure, Carrot probably sensed an undiscovered island in his sleep and piloted the boat towards it. Yes, that had to be it! He was the first man to set foot on this island, a never before seen jungle of mystery and danger. Now, the next pressing question, was that if he was the first person to discover this place, why could he see the smoke of a camp fire rising from a clearing deep in the jungle? Was the fire maker aware that he wasn't supposed to be here, since this was an undiscovered island? Carrot decided it was his duty to investigate the source of the smoke, so he quickly dragged his rowboat onto the shore, making sure it wouldn't float out in his absence, and prepared himself for trailblazing. It was odd how many defined paths there were in the jungle, considering no man had ever tread these lands before. Carrot took a deep exhale and looked at the path ahead. He knew that he may encounter deadly beasts in his adventures to come, and the thought of it made him childishly excited, like waiting to open a present on Christmas morning. Even though it was extremely likely, if not certain, the thought of him getting killed by these creatures didn't once cross his mind. As far as he was concerned, it was laughable to even consider anything getting the better of him in a fight. A confident grin emerged on Carrot's face, and he began to follow the winding path towards the smoke. Edited by Seven, Nov 4 2012, 01:32 AM.

Guang's boat hit the shore with a solid clunk that snapped one of the frail planks of wood that held the hull together. At some point during his journey, Guang had lost his sense of direction, barely escaped being swallowed by a Sea King after blinding it with the paddles of his rowboat (which now lay at the bottom of the ocean) and narrowly avoided sinking after a stormy night spent dangerously close to a rocky cliff. Guang climbed gingerly out of the boat using his spear for balance as he struggled to regain his land legs. Overall, Guang was satisfied with the quality of his journey. He suspected that he had made it far enough to escape the notice of the triads for a fairly long time. The only problem was... Where was he now? All Guang saw in front of him was the beginning of a treeline and none of his urban parkour experience told him what to do in this situation. Although his parkour experience told him little, his common sense told him to get away from the shore and into the forest before the sea spray and wind froze him to death; already, Guang could feel his fingers numbing despite the clear sky as a frigid wind drifted in from over the ocean. Guang was barely into the forest before he winced at a loud crash from behind him. Guang turned to see that all that was left of what used to be his rowboat were a few planks of wood. Guang gathered these up and hurried into the forest before his fingers failed him. After about ten minutes of walking, Guang had no idea where he was. All of the foliage just looked the same to him and he couldn't differentiate between one path and the next; ten minutes of random walking had meant that he had forgotten his path completely. With nothing else to do, Guang chucked down the planks of wood and set about lighting them with the old twig-trick. It took him a while, but Guang eventually got the fire burning and sat beside it with his hands outstretched. "Why is it so COLD!?" Guang shouted out loud to himself. |

Okay.. This tree looked exactly like the one Carrot had passed five minutes ago, and the one he passed five minutes before that. Either this island had a lot of twin trees, or he was going in circles. The mess of paths with no clear direction made this place into some kind of labyrinth. Of course, there was no way Carrot could be lost, since he considered himself a genius with navigation. He kept his eye on his target: the smoke, and continued forward, hoping he would eventually reach his destination. Several minutes later, Carrot found himself in front of the source of the smoke, a messy fire that seemed to be formed of a pile of distorted planks. There was an unfamiliar man sitting there, warming his hands over the flames. That probably wasn't a bad idea considering how cold this place was. Carrot took a moment to mentally plan out his magnificent entrance. He spotted a low hanging vine, and visualized himself swinging into the clearing, performing a graceful flip in mid-air, and landing flawlessly in front of the stranger, instantly gaining nothing but his respect. Feeling secure that his plan wouldn't fail him, he gripped the vine and took a few steps back, setting himself up for the swing. He lifted his feet and came flying towards the clearing, shooting through the trees. He awkwardly released the vine, sending him into the air a few feet, and attempted to jerk his body forward, resulting in a half turn and an unpleasant thump as he landed violently on his back in front of the man. He stood up quickly and regained his composure, hoping the slight imperfection of his acrobatics would go unnoticed. He held out a hand to the stranger, and introduced himself confidently. "Hi there, my name is Carrot Jones: the most handsome explorer to roam the seas!", he exclaimed. "I see you've found yourself on one of my many islands! What brings you here?" |

Guang sat in front of the happily crackling fire, just as happily warming himself or, at least, he was until five minutes ago when he felt that he was being watched. Guang heard a rustling in the bushes but did not stir in case he alerted the person watching him. Instead, Guang nonchalantly reached for his spear when he glimpsed something fly through the trees in his peripheral vision and land on its back in front of him. Guang blinked at the man as he tried to recover from his blunder... Then proceeded to prod the fire to keep it burning, completely ignoring the man. Although Guang had never been too open towards strangers, he could not help but feel annoyed at particularly overexuberant fellows; he didn't know why this was but he assumed it was probably something to do with the (lack of) compatibility of personalities - Guang was predominantly a quiet, serious person and being overhappy destroyed the very visage he had endeavoured to form. Guang didn't know whether or not to reply to the man but he had already left the silence too long to speak so he merely leaned backwards and relaxed. |

Carrot frowned, disappointed that he was being ignored. Maybe the man was deaf, or mute, since there weren't many more logical reasons for someone to disregard his greatness so easily. Maybe he was just too stunned by Carrot's spectacular entrance to utter a response. It was probably something along those lines. Carrot continued to talk with brightness in his voice, paying little attention to the fact that he was getting no acknowledgement, verbally or otherwise. "Well, whatever your reason, now you have the privilege of accompanying me in exploring these uncharted lands! You see, I just arrived here less than a half hour ago, and used my excellent map reading skills to deduce that this island is nowhere on any sea charts!" Carrot invited himself to a seat, pulling up next to the fire and following suit with warming his hands. "Naturally, I claimed this territory as my own, as I rightfully should. All that's left to do now is venture into its mysterious depths, and uncover all the hidden secrecies it may hold!" He let his imagination run wild, dreaming up wondrously far-fetched fantasies about the island's contents, including ferocious monsters and precious treasures, maybe even some legendary devil fruits. He didn't entirely know what the purpose was, but he tried to look like he knew what he was doing by casually mimicking the stranger's actions with regards to prodding the fire, grabbing a nearby stick as his tool. He shifted some of the tinder around pointlessly, but quickly lost interest, dropping the stick at once. Carrot glanced up from the fire and tried to squeeze some commitment out of his new friend, eager to drag along a companion through his coming adventures. "So, what do you say? Ready to explore the island? Yes, or yes?" |

Guang honestly wasn't that interested in listening to what this man had to say but he also did not want to start a fight at this moment in time... He simply could not be bothered so he, instead, decided to quietly accede and see where this man would take them. Guang stood and pointed a finger at the man. "Lead," Guang said simply. If he got even more lost than he already was, at least he could blame it all on this man and he didn't look like too bad a chap; there did not seem to be the least bit of malice in his eyes and he looked brimming with confidence. Guang did not like the idea of following all that much but it was a lot easier than leading - especially in foreign lands. Obviously, Carrot had also never been to this island but exploring tends to be easier in parties in any case as labour could be divided between them. Guang followed behind the skippy little man and their adventure began... |

Just as expected, the stranger had fallen victim to Carrot's endless charisma and was now permanently loyal to him. Carrot was briefly puzzled by the man's command to 'lead'. Of course he would be the leader, who else would be? No matter, let's get this show on the road! Carrot merrily strode into the jungle. He felt even more confident with an ally by his side. He desperately tried to look like he knew what he was doing, examining little details of the surroundings and using them to deduce where they should be headed. "Aha!" He exclaimed, pointing at a small patch of moss. He slid his index finger across the top of it and tasted his finger, pausing for a moment while seeming to be deep in thought. "Just like I thought, this moss is of the Barborossa Grande variety, a rare family of mosses native only to the center of the equator, imported from the grand line in 1948. If we use this information as well as the fact that trees can appear to cross the event horizon on the north side of the wind, it becomes obvious that we should be headed west!" Carrot pointed in a random direction that he decided was probably close enough to west, and marched into the unknown, beaming with confidence gained from his expert deductions. Sometimes he impressed even himself, using knowledge he didn't even know he had. While they walked, he started up a conversation. "So, my new friend, I never caught your name. What might I address you by? Where are you from?" |

Guang was surprised by the wealth of information that the man held in his brain (which he had initially assumed to be non-existent and replaced by bravado); although he, himself, had never studied the intricacies of botany so he couldn't discern whether the information Carrot was giving was to be believed or not. Guang's confidence in the man wavered slightly when he deduced west to be in almost the opposite of its actual direction but followed the man's lead anyway as he didn't seem to be the listening-type to begin with. "So, my new friend, I never caught your name. What might I address you by? Where are you from?" Carrot asked him as they trotted along - Guang rather less jauntily than his companion. "My name is 黃月光... Just call me Guang. I come from a small island here in East Blue that is infested with triads," Guang explained to the man. "And what of you? Where do you come fro-?" Guang felt a fleeting presence behind him and froze in his tracks. He quickly swivelled to where he felt the presence and saw only tree trunks and foliage. Guang's eyes traced what could be seen of the branches above and saw nothing big enough to be a person; still sceptical, Guang turned back to face Carrot before realising that he had missed all of what the man had been saying. "I'm sorry," Guang apologised, "I thought I saw something... What was it you were saying?" |

"Me? Where do I come from?" Carrot chuckled lightly and closed his eyes, preparing to tell a great tale of heroism and godlike miracles. "I was born on a brilliantly flaming island in the middle of the Grand Line, during the most hellish storm to ever be smitten upon the seven seas. They say that the very moment I entered the world, lightning struck and the thunder boomed one final time: the storm clearing up in an instant. The legends say that my birth was so divine that the weather itself ran in fear..." He was cut off by his partner's words. "What was it you were saying?" Carrot sighed and shook his head. No worries, it was obvious that a mere commoner would be overwhelmed by such greatness and be unable to fully grasp the significance of his stories. They continued to move forward. Every once in a while, Carrot would notice a quick rustle in the brushes, or a small shape scurry up a tree out of the corner of his eye. There was bound to be wildlife around these parts, so he dismissed the movement as being nothing significant. By this time, the jungle had become rather dense. They had to push through rough patches of branches and fight the vines in order to make progress. Suddenly, they pushed their way into an unexpected clearing. Carrot was instantly taken aback by what they saw. It was a magical patch of bright flowers of all shapes and colors, surrounded by dense dense clusters of trees. The sunlight shone majestically down around the area, forming the end of a brilliant rainbow that seemed so clear that it was almost physically touchable. The rainbow arced up into the sky and seemed to continue on for miles. However, the oddest part of this area was that there was a ship. A ship. A brand new ship painted a dazzling red, with enormous sails and a fantastic sparkling mass that could almost rival Carrot's 'S.S. Emerald'. It was just sitting in a patch of grass completely intact, as if god himself had carefully placed it there. The sight was so surreal, it made no sense to Carrot. He looked towards Guang to make sure he was seeing the same thing. Edited by Seven, Jul 25 2013, 12:22 AM.

Guang and Carrot emerged into the clearing and Guang was almost blinded by the sudden change in lighting as the sunlight burned into his eyes. The rainbow in the centre rippled like a stream and the patches of flowers were truly magnificent but the stunning, red ship was the thing that drew Guang's attention. Guang looked down from the ship to see his companion giving him the same look he, himself, could not help but give - utter astonishment. At a closer look, Guang could see that the ship - which looked as though it was grounded - was, in fact, on the rainbow and hovering above the ground. Surely, such a thing was not possible? Guang nodded towards the bottom of the ship to see if Carrot had noticed the same thing. Something about this clearing gave an eerie feeling despite the dazzling display of colours and Guang found that he had been unconsciously holding his breath - he had to force himself to breathe normally again. Guang took a step forward when suddenly, everything went black and he felt himself slam into the ground. Before he passed out completely, Guang heard many high-pitched voices and what-sounded-like cackling. Guang awoke and found himself tied to a tree by some sort of material which was extremely tough, he could not budge it an inch. Upon closer inspection, Guang found that it was many of tiny, tiny pieces of hemp which meant that this was hemp rope, woven on a tiny scale and made to a large one. Try as he might, Guang could not loosen the ropes one inch. "RARGHHHHHHHHH!" Guang screamed in frustration; his voice echoing through the woods. Edited by wongy06, Jul 26 2013, 07:01 PM.
