Megan came walking out of the female officers' wing where she'd spent the majority of the afternoon napping and stretching, refreshing herself for the evenings' tests. Their instructor hadn't really given them a timeline on when they were meant to conquer the arena. And when Megan thought about it, it wasn't something an ordinary person really could do. It was a training course designed to overwhelm their senses and prepare them for the worst. Well, she was a doctor; she would have to deal with much, much worse than anything the Marines could dish out. From the girls' wing within the Marine Headquarters she stepped down the hall and back towards the arena. They'd been ordered to meet back at 6 PM to continue their training -- and that had been all they'd been told. To Megan, it meant another crack at the arena. She was game. She'd made a lot of mistakes the first time around she intended on rectifying this time around. She was no slouch -- quite the opposite, in fact. She could easily shift from her doctor mindset to a far more blank slate, open for her senses to take over and fight it out. She opened the door to the arena once again and purposefully walked into the vast open/enclosed space and then, as her steps rang out along the metallic area ringing the vast training arena she took a right and steered towards the weapon rack. She was going to wait for Alex, clearly, but she may as well choose her weapons now while she could. She couldn't overburden herself but she did have to prepare herself better than last time. That meant bullets for whatever gun(s) she chose. Small, throwable weapons and a mid range/short range handheld weapon. They'd all have to be small-scale, but, effective. She started taking a look around, her eyes catching throwing needles, what looked like a self-reloading handheld crossbow, an odd-looking section staff. This time, none of the worries over her healing profession even crossed her mind. This time, all she thought about was how to create the hurt. |

Alex was in the mess-hall eating his breakfast. Considering he was not too good with cooking he was more then glad for the food. The mess-hall served whatever was asked by the people ordering. People could have a 6 course meal if there rank was high enough. Alex went for a simple meal; Grilled cheese sandwich, pancakes, 5 pieces of bacon, and 3 scrambled eggs. It was so well made it made Alex think of coming back when he was high in the ranks. The food was so damn good he was thinking of getting seconds. To bad his mission was coming up soon so he had to go soon. Alex grabbed his new swords and went for the exit. The hook swords would help make sure enemies would not make getting away too easy. He walked the halls enjoying the cold air it calmed his nerves a bit. The halls had less people this time around but it seemed more focused. Alex kind of wanted to know just how many could be Cipher Pol. Considering Megan was not at the mess-hall he figured she would be in the training room. Guess it was worth checking, he had nothing better to do. Maybe he would bug her a bit before the mission... Alex stood before training room door. The door was left ajar and Alex smelled medicine mixed with Megan's scent. She really needed to remember to close doors. It was not a mistake that the fox would expect her to make. He made a metal note to try and remember check behind her when he worked with her. It was time to try and get some real training done. Then hopefully finish the mission Alex was looking forward to his pay. |

Megan was slowly walking along the weapon rack, taking in the vast array and trying to decide what to pick first. With the swinging targets of the morning in mind, she ventured towards the guns hanging as if suspended on the wall. There were handhelds, rifles ... and a glove, right in the middle of the gun rack. It was a metallic silver like a sword blade in color, glistening there and almost beckoning her its way. Megan complied as if she were in a trance, at first touching the weapon with a sweep of her fingers before putting her non-metallic hand into the glove. Her hand now totally inside the metal and black leather glove she took it off the weapon rack and brought it around, arm still raised to stop it from falling off her hand. What did she do now? She clenched her fist and realized suddenly that the glove was also tightening. It was odd, though -- no matter how hard she squeezed it didn't feel quite tight enough. Finally, clenching her fist with all her strength she felt it tighten satisfyingly and snugly around her fist and forearm. That was a neat little mechanical trick. She found herself liking this weapon before she even knew what it did. She smiled down at her new metal hand, clenching the fist as a tipped, footlong dart followed by at least a dozen feet of wire snapped out of the wrist portion of the glove, extending like a giant pole with a whirr and snap into the air not a foot from her head before retracting back into the gauntlet. "No way." she said, pointing her gauntlet fist ahead of her towards the arena and clenching her fist, again the wired arrow-spear stabbed out to what she guessed was about fifteen feet of length before coming back into the bottom of the glove with a snap. "Oh, those targets are so smoked this time." she grinned as she heard Alex come in, turning to greet him. "Hey, Alex! I have a good feeling about this one. Ready?" she asked, still deciding she'd take a firearm, ammo, and another small to mid sized weapon of choice with her out there as well as the power glove. |

Alex stood in the door way of the training room. Any good mood he had just vanished it was like he just snapped into combat mindset. He stepped out of the door way before closing it behind him and locking it. The room had just reminded him that he was aiming to be a Cipher. "If I'm going to impress the Cipher Pol then I need to be serous even if its training. I will relax when I'm not training or doing work. I just need to start simple so when I show what I can really do it will look better for me." Alex reasoned with him self. "I can work out a bit on my own time. I can't just go hunting like I use to and call that my work out. A healthier appearance might help, the reputation will come on its own. Performance might mean a lot to the watchers but the right mentality can cover that. They work in the shadows so it might be that they want mentality and performance. Performance could mean a lot when under pressure." Alex was really trying to get a plan to get into the Cipher. "Megan you ready for training yet?" |

Distracted for a moment from her selection of a pistol with .45 and 1911 written on its' grey sides, Megan was watching Alex muttering to himself about performance, mentality, shadows, mentality, performance, pressure ... had he been this stoked about becoming a CP member since she'd seen him last? Perhaps her best course of action, then, was to help him out. Grabbing two small boxes of bullets with .45 on them she pocketed them in either vest side and then looked up at Alex. "Yea, but what'r you muttering about? This'll be tough, but we'll do it no problem if we put our heads together." she smiled at him, thinking to help him relax before they hit the training nexus. She had her power glove, a gun and extra bullets -- one more weapon to go prepared, but what? Her answer came in the form of a sort of blade-rod, a foot and a half long steel pole tipped by a katana-like footlong blade. This weapon was right below the dual extendable blades she'd used last time and she had a strong suspicion that turned out to be correct. This weapon, too, had a switch. Taking the lesson from last time, she thumbed the one switch and the steel rod extended full outwards on both ends to become a six foot long naginata. She thumbed the switch again and the weapon reverted back into its short form. She had an almost maniacal grin on as she looked back at Alex now. "Oh, I am ready. Lead on." she said, ready again to aid him should he need it. |

It was time to show what he could do for him self. Alex reached for his top blade resting on the left side of his hip. He gripped it tightly before withdrawing the sword, even with the man made lights. The blade seem to have a natural glow to them. Placing the blade into the air before his face he looked at it and smiled. It served to calm him down a bit. He left he could relax just a bit now, Alex stepped past the line. "System on!" the system begin setting up the dummies and in less then 15 seconds; the field was set. A dummy was moving forward before moving to the right behind a building. He ran up two building space before he realized this might be the same one as before. He smiled at the thought of getting payback. He stepped behind it after the dummy. This time to barely being missed a stick.. well more like mini-log. Alex cut it in half with his sword and dummy backed away. It's hand became a small beat stick this dummy knew some combat. Alex jumped back only for the dummy to try and stay close. He pulled back a bit more of a retreat and to the middle of the road. It was still moving after him so he charge back in and went for a swing. The dummy dodged it fast enough to escape with a small scratch. Alex looked on in panic this thing was fast enough to dodge him. He wondered that if they can be this fast would Megan have a chance. They others was not doing all this, they were not this fast. Why would one damn dummy be this fast or smart for that matter. He had the skill to be a Lieutenant and this thing could handle with rather easy. It worried the man, he charge it again to be met by it guarding. He was pushing it back using his weight then it suddenly pulled back. Its stick was not even scratched, Alex felt something click in his head. It was what he overheard on his way to the mess-hall. "I want to warn you of one thing, don't think training is going to be easy. Just like life even dummies can learn. Remember that girl." Alex was about ready to freeze up. He thought the girl was warning the one of lower rank to be careful of any pirate. Turns out at least of these dummies can learn to fight back. Now that Alex thought about it, the other dummies was not moving as fast as before. That meant any of these things could be fast if something triggers it. Alex was not the fastest one in the room anymore. That meant Alex was being shown up, he hated being shown up. Then to be out done and shown up by a dummy the man was just not going for it. |

Megan, her two armored fists with the .45, grabbing a .60 and ammunition along with the extendable naginata quarterstaff ran behind and along an oversight trajectory to Alex. She wanted to pace him but also to cover him in moments he needed the backup. She had incredible memory absorption and could both retain situations and come up with reflexive responses when faced with such scenarios at a rate that had put her here in the combat regimen instead of the medical unit in the first place. As they neared the building structures and street they had been forced to a halt last time the targets once again began to whap back and forth, daunting her to attack them. But why attack them all? They moved at a pace that also made the street a mobile obstacle course to clear. By working with Alex, and pacing their targets, she was sure they could do this. While Alex was distracted by the attack dummy that had probably put him out the last time Megan reluctantly took her eyes off of his fight for just a moment to raise her gauntlet towards the first target ahead of them, directly in their running path down the road first thing. Clenching her fist, the wired spear-lance burst out of her wrist casing and slammed into the target before forcefully retracting. The target thacked back into the structure wall and remained there whilst the others stayed mobile. Looking back to Alex swinging at -- and missing -- the attack dummy with his sword. That was something. But she remembered something of her last major briefing. The Rear Admiral who'd dispersed them all (literally) had told them that the Marines were undergoing an intense overhaul. This time, Lieutenants, Captains, Marines of all ranks would be going through rigorous combat training to ensure military success in what would be very trying coming days. This training, according to the Rear Admiral, would be 'unlike anything the Marines have ever seen since its' beginning'. This was probably just the start for them. The Pirates, and another Pirate Age -- those were the fears being bandied about now. Megan reached down to her waist and pulled out the .60 caliber gun, raising it steady with both hands and staring down at the attack dummy as it sped away from Alex and fired. She missed -- but she saw her bullet spark off a structure just inches from its' head. "Okay, so we have to find a way to overwhelm these things without using too much energy." she said as the dummy retracted and seemed to be readying to spring at Alex again. "If you can open it up for me and occupy it for just a moment, I can do enough damage for you to easily finish it off." she said, thinking on her naginata and what she could do to the dummy's legs and arms. |

Alex waited for the dummy to go on the attack. He watched closely for a few moments before it rushed at him. He put one sword to block just before the dummy got to him. Alex slide back from the force of the hit meeting his sword. He brought up his other sword in an attempt to try and cut it in half. It hit but didn't even cut the wood. Alex looked in disbelief, this thing should be at least scratched. He pulled back and moved to the right and swung the sword again. The force of the swing was now enough to scratch it. He would need some force build up to break this dummy. "I need to work on my strength after this ordeal." he said making a mental note. Alex kept on the offense trying to pin the dummy in a pot where would freeze up or mess up. Sadly the dummy only seemed to fight harder. "Megan you might want to get in a damn shot!" Alex was starting to hate machines. He had no problem with combat or killing. He could handle fighting and killing but not when his instincts could not give him a flow to go by. His Instincts only said run and hide, and his mind was not sure on how to help handle this. All he could do was fight. He managed to lock the dummy into a stand still. "Take the shot. This is getting to me a bit." He never been in a situation where his instincts failed him. Alex was panicking he needed to get information on these machines when this was over. He was not going to fit into the marines if fighting a none living thing was this hard for him. He was pushing his stamina and strength a bit trying to hold the dummy still. |

Alex had actually managed to put the dummy into a standstill position, though Megan could see the strain it put on him and didn't know how she herself could physically help him -- at least not yet. She could see that there was no way she could just yank it off of him much less just chop an arm off outright. These things were made of metal, and even the hollow metal training dummies (as opposed to getting punched by a solid iron fist from day 1) could resist regular weaponized blows. She had to think outside of just overpowering it. "Stay right there." she said as she pulled out the .60 and and then rushed in at the dummy and Alex, locked there almost like wrestlers. She almost gracefully placed her gun straight up underneath the dummy's chin and then pulled the trigger twice. The first shot went through the dummy's head and into the ceiling whilst the second split a wide metallic gash open out the metal cranium. "I hope that helped." she said, staring at the blown-open head she'd just made for a second and then back at the struggle ensuing. She put away the gun and then pulled out her staff again, swinging it up across one of the dummy's arms and then holding it there with both her own and leaving that side wide open for Alex to take a shot if he desired. Otherwise, she was wanting to see whether or not this machine had twistable shoulder joints like humans ... |

Alex stared at the dummy with a mental Guard still up. It was not enough that that wood acted as their skin. Now they have a metal skeletons, Alex was finding to be bull shit. Though it made sense considering one had enough force to knock him through a building. If this was the wooden version he was hoping that he would not face a full metal made one. He was starting to regret being here for his training. He refocused his thoughts to maybe getting to understand machines. If he could know how they worked he could work through a flaw and win. Though fast and nimble can work if your target is out of shape or at least not in your shape. You could have a good chance to out do them but shape didn't seem to matter with machines. Its just all about build however they build them that's how they seem to work. He gripped his left sword tightly and flipped so its fang was pointing downward. He drew back his sword to his right side. Before swing the blade back to the left and letting the fang cut into the wooden dummy's lower torso. It didn't cut through it fully but he did cut deep. He was feeling a bit less tense now that he saw he could damage them a bit. His mind was starting to calm back down to normal. |

Alex's response was a cut towards and then into the dummy's stomach area as Megan then did a little jump. Taking all of her downwards body weight momentum she gave a mighty, twisting heave. The staff she was holding with both hands to the outside of the dummy's arm she had locked earlier twisted and grated against its shoulder socket. But the arm was also being forced a ways it simply couldn't go. Megans' weapon wasn't giving. Finally, with a snap the lightly-reinforced dummy's arm was ripped out of its' socket as Megan stumbled a step with it. She then let it fall and kicked it away, turning to the dummy and Alex. She had a determination now, and perhaps a confidence, she had not possessed before. She didn't have any illusions about herself -- that robots' arm had been really hard to twist off. But she'd done it, and she was going to do it again. She once again snapped her weapon around the dummy's shoulder socket area and began to heave and leave it entirely exposed for her training partner. |

Alex felt a sense of achievement, he held his own own against a man-made creation. It felt better knowing this thing was designed to be surpassed by the marines it was tested against. Alex felt that he surpassed one trial to climbing the ranks. Small compared to what would be required of him but still a step closer. Something in Alex changed when the dummy was downed he was not sure what but he knew something in him changed. Alex's instinct had started to change being in a new environment was making his primal calling mold to fit to his needs. Alex was just starting on his own change but he may come to know it soon enough. The change of an animal had now begin anew. -End- |
