Alex was sitting in the cold night air, the cool air was a calming thing. It did not get this cold on his island Alex was enjoying the change. The only thing standing out to Alex was the fact that the city didn't seem so busy right now. Acting, fight scenes, and recording was happening but it did not feel the same as when he 1st got here. It could be that he adapted to it but the world seemed right again. It felt like he was back home he was detached from the world just a bit.

Alex reached into his inside jacket pocket and took out a violet sack. He could smell the scent of candy from the bag, Alex wonders either to eat some or save it for later. He had plenty of the candy and he could refill on more before he left the island but did he want to spend the money? Alex sighed before opening the bag, he need some sugar in his system right now. He pulled out a piece before unwrapping it and putting it in his mouth. Candy gives energy but it more so eased his nerves when he was on a high location.

The young fox looked over his shoulder down at the Marine base front doors. He had to wait for Megan before the mission could finally start but nothing from with enjoying some down time before then.

Megan wasn't a huge fan of the :beli: 80 a night charge she was paying to stay at one of the few un-themed hotels here but it was still half price on account of her being a Marine. She was standing in front of one of her mirrors, tinkering a little with her mechanical arm as she twisted a pair of tiny screws into place with a thin screwdriver and took of the looking-glass she was using to magnify her view. She clenched and unclenched her mechanical hand -- good. In the short time since their less-than-spectacular showing at the Marine testing grounds she had trained as hard and diligently as possible, regimenting her own rest periods and modifying her mechanics for optimal performance.

This time, for the first time, she was coming at whatever the mission entailed as a combat medic, not simply a medic ready for combat. But there was someone that had shown her just how hard she still had to train -- Alex. He moved with a speed and grace that she simply couldn't physically match yet, and she envied him a little for it.

"I'll be the swiftest combat medic the world has ever known. The fallen will be safe with me in an instant." she promised herself in the mirror, pressing a small button underneath the cybernetic as the inner bullet chamber wheel clicked into place. She picked up the weapon she'd spent all this time making, turned, and left her apartment carrying everything she'd come in with -- her usual grey-dark clothes, Marine coat, cap she most often wore backwards if she did wear it and the Secateurs on her back. Locking the door behind her, for she had this hotel room another two days, she headed down the circular flights of stairs several floors, then out the building.

It was only a few blocks from the Marine base and she was there in minutes, enjoying the litany of man-made productions around her. As she came closer to the drab grey and white Marine base she spotted someone on the front of the building overlooking the doorway. It was Alex. She continued down the road and through the outer gates of the Marine facility. "Am I late for a surveillance mission?" she teased as she stopped and gave him a happy closed grin, eager to finally utilize her training today no matter how they did it.

Alex glanced over at Megan before he stood up and calls her over using his hand. The fox wanted to face palm at the fact that Megan forgot the pirates could be anywhere. They seem to mainly go about during the night and Alex wanted to avoid being seen before they even got started.

The Beastman walked away from the edge of the roof so people could not continue to get a good look at him. He walked until he was on the very center of the roof before he begin to eat his first piece of candy from the bag. Chews were a classic that never went out of style back home.

The night wind was starting to pick up a bit for time being. It was enough to send a chill up Alex's spine. Alex ears twitched at a far off sound of something being placed on a wall. He put his bag of candy upset that he was not going to be able to eat some more right now. He went heading for the north-east of the island. He was hoping it would not be a waste of time or that he was heading for something he could not handle. Though to be honest he doubt it would be he was going to have his claws ready to wound someone if needed.

Megan continued making her way towards the base and Alex sitting above its' doorway, wondering why he carried a slightly exasperated look at her as she somewhat nocholantly stepped closer and looked up at him waving her over. Coming down the clear white-stone pathway leading to base, at night, was almost a relief in itself. That relief, and that comfort of authority, was exactly what you had to leave behind every time you stepped out into the night on watch, or duty.

As Alex turned, she raised her metallic arm and fired the needleblade up and then jerked it around to shoot past and then swing around one of the round doorway frame pieces overlooking the bases' main front door. After swinging round quickly a few times she tugged it as hard as she could to test it and then quickly, with a running start ran up the wall of the Marine base while winching the rope back into her arm at the same time to help her run straight up along the wall. As her dash up the wall reached its' apex she did a leap off; the rope, fastened, therefore swung her around like a pendulum to come down firmly on her two feet on the Marine base roof. She then untwined the needleblade off the doorframe and slid it back into her arm.

"We need to come back with hard evidence and circumstance regarding these pirates. I'm the backup, and your medic, but you know what? I can fight, and even better, you are perfectly fast enough for me to back you up. You know, to stab the kidney while you have the guy in a clinch. Pierce the eardrum ... grab a pinkie finger and break it .. then .. jerk it around, so hard .." she said, snapping back out of sadistic (and, apparently to her, hot) fantasies and hoping Alex would be ok with basically taking the front lines in this. It was scary, to be raised to heal people, and to now expect to have to heal herself, her comrades or even the enemy over circumstances she would never, ever be able to fully control again in her career. She was ready to uphold justice, and she was strong enough to fight for what was truly hers. But she was not strong enough yet to stand at the forefront in the face of pirates in the night. I'm human ... I'll always be. she said, grateful for the emotional moment of humility and her insight into the positives of her self-confidence giving her strength even now as her metallic fist clenched in a newfound determination.

"I got no problem being the front line fighter but you best be able to handle your self if something gets past me. Nothing good is likely to come from a partner who cant handle them self in combat. Just trust that their is pretty much a zero percent chance someone might not be faster then me at some point or another." Alex forewarned Megan

The young fox moved across the roof and jumped over a narrow alley. The sound should not have been farther away then two or three building spaces. Alex jogged to try and get to the place where the sound seem to come from. He came to the edge of the second building when he realized it had to much space to jump over it for him. He would not have the strength to send him self fully over the distance he was going to think of another way to get across. Though he started to think of another way he took notice of two people on the side of the building across from him.

Alex eyes widened when he noticed the sound was the same he had heard. A guy was leaned up against the wall making out with someone pushed up against them. Alex could not tell if it was a boy or a girl but it looked like another male from the angle he had. He backed away slowly trying not to make a sound they might hear. Once he was sure he was out of their line of sight he shivered Alex never did understand the idea of anything other male and female being an enjoyable experience.

Alex shook his head to shake off the feeling. While he was not sure how he felt on the matter for anyone other then him self. It was a strange feeling when he saw people of the same sex showing feelings for one another. He rarely met people who showed such a thing and Alex aimed to avoid them unless he had to do other wise. At least that way he would not feel uncomfortable and people would not having him give them weird looks

Megan tapped along after Alex on the rooftops, concentrating both on pacing him and what he was saying as she gazed out at the moonlit skies for a moment, then back ahead of herself. "Well, that was what the training session was for. That and a few more things between then and now that helped as well." she said as she did a leap over the narrow alley, heart beating a little as she took a look down, then landed in a tight roll to her feet and continuing. She'd banged her shoulder up, though, having never practiced it quite that fast -- but she'd done it.

As they reached the edge of the second building Megan carefully stepped to the edge of it and then took in the scene on the rooftop across them, eyebrows raised and a one-sided grin on her face as she stared for another second and then hunched down, chuckling for a second. She'd seen Alex's indecision on the matter and wondered what he'd have to say on the public conduct. It was a rooftop: two Marines staring at that scene without making a move to address it would go nowhere.

"Well, Alex, I suppose the question here is what you think I'd do if I saw two girls going at it right about now. Hanging in there?" she asked, standing and peering over the balcony down at the street for a moment before glancing their way and Alex again. "Awaiting orders." she said, grinning.

"I say we leave them be. I would rather not have to deal with them encase there is a chance they take an interest in me. It would be too annoying to deal with if they were furry fans. More so if they like anything in the canine family." Alex sat down to try and calm him self back down. Alex might was starting to think he needed to learn the skill to ignore these things so it would not bug him as much.

"As for how you would fair if it was two girls down there. I could not tell you, cause I don't know your sexuality. Though I would still be shaken up, male or female going with the same sex was something I never saw or heard of back home." Alex took a few deep breathes before standing back up.

"Let's head back to base can't let them catch us. At least not until things are all ready." It was a guy speaking. Though with how some males and females can sound it can be either. Alex became alert again when it registered what someone might be talking about. Though some of it sounded a bit off Alex was ready to see of they were apart of the pirates that had been causing trouble.

Megan took a quizzical look at Alex for a moment before a chuckle escaped her, causing her shoulders to shake a little before she burst out laughing and had to hide it behind a palm for a second. "You -- you ha ha! -- you think they'll come after a furry Marine?? Ha ha!" she said, her hilarity staying strong for a moment as her laughs got quieter but no more frequent. "Well, its definitely not something you see every day but love, well, its funny like that. It has people kissing and .. making love .. to all sorts of things. As a doctor I can tell you that everything that exists has some special attraction to at least somebody out there." she explained, finally able to contain herself a little better.

But she heard the suspicious words as well, her eyes narrowing and flicking to Alex for a second as she remained where she was propped behind the wall of the roof. To hide beneath it meant she was squatting. But she wanted to see the person responsible, to see the direction they were taking. Ignoring the two making out across the rooftop for now, she peeked down at them and then back at Alex. "Tracking's hard. But I bet its so useful. What do we do?" she asked, subconsciously feeling her metal hand with the other one now that the opportunity for true danger -- a real mission -- was at hand.

Alex was not happy about laughed at, it felt like he was being degraded. Though he choose to ignore it for now. He might pay her back for it when the chance seemed right. "We need to follow them. Let's just hope that this is not just some trap or that we might be stalking actors. I really don't want to be on camera when a mission is on the line." Alex said as he started getting ready to track the sound of the foot steps.

Alex made a quick hand gestures for Megan to follow him. He jumped off the 2 story building and rolled as he landed on the ground. The wind started to blow into his face, bring alone with it the scent of alcohol. It was strong enough for him taste it, the people in front were either heavy drinkers or had pasted by a lot of drunks. The scent was almost burning his nose, if they were drunk Alex doubted they would notice if it even started raining.

Megan continued taking a discreet look at the men below here in the dark of night. She and Alex weren't illuminated except by moonlight so, with some care, she felt secure in scoping out the potential problem. They had the element of relative darkness and their objectives' ignorance to her and Alex's existence on their side. "My gut tells me this isn't a trap. Unless an inside man in the Marines has set up some elaborate ruse for use to die I think we're clear there. But you never know. Whoever they are, they're suspicious as hell." she replied as an affirmation to him as she watched him leap off the two-story building.

Falling off of something like this would leave her with a bump or bruise if she wasn't careful and instead of outright leaping off the building she slid over the edge, twisted and grabbed it with both hands. Letting go with her cybernetic limb she smashed that hand and the needle it housed into the wall and then lowered herself by the rope it was attached to. As she approached ground level she gave this metal rope a hard yank and sent the spike zipping and retracting back into her metal arm. Falling and landing the last few feet she thought on their maneuvers: both had made noise, one securing her fall and the other on his landing. Neither had alerted the men they were following. There was just too much noise coming from the other direction, booze town tonight.

Megan followed Alex now as they began making their way towards their quarry. Someone stepped out of one of the bars/establishments they were walking past, clearly not noticing either of them in his stupor. He turned right into the nearest alleyway, adjacent to that of Megan and Alex, walked down until Megan could barely see him, watching him as she was never mind those that were minding their own business -- and began urinating, facing away from them. He jiggled a little on the spot, a steam cloud forming just out-of-sight.

"I think we're technically witnessing a low-level crime. Do we continue tracking those suspicious characters or do we nab this guy quick, Alex?"

"Forget him if I can remember his scent we might nab him later. I refuse to fail my first mission cause we let some guys get away to get a drunk off the streets." Alex replied before he saw the two people turn onto a side road The area went low as if it lead under the city. Alex knew they had not got that far from the marine base. The base they knew of was a lot farther away.

As they got closer Alex had realized that the people had gotten a lot more distance between them then he was keeping aware of. They could move faster then Alex originally thought. Despite being on a mission Alex jealousy was getting the better of him. He was being out done in speed and stealth. They not only managed to space between them but did it without him taking notice of it. He shifted his tail and lowered him self to looked more like a for legged animal. Then he shot off after his targets in a hasty sprint.

Megan nodded once in affirmation to Alex as he made his decision and then moved to follow him past the suspicious characters. These suspicious characters seemed to be pretty fast because Alex began putting on more speed, causing Megan to keep distance to Alex and remain pacing him, her trot becoming a harder jog and then a run as they kept down the streets after their suspects.

Alex seemed to have made the decision to do a committed pursuit, because he did a full run towards their position, running as they were away from the two Marines. Megan leaned into her own run after Alex, her pace of about seven meters to his every ten perfect for keeping within shooting range and backup distance should anything go amiss whilst they were in pursuit. He was quick, but she was ready to signal him should anything seem off.

As they continued running she couldn't shake the feeling something was amiss. This pursuit, the speed of their quarry -- something wasn't adding up.

Alex was keeping on the two people they were tailing but he got the feeling that they were a aware of them by now. They would have no reason to be running other wise. They didn't seem like they were in a rush before now. Expecting them to try and lead him and Megan off the main route he got the idea to cut them off. The plan would leave Megan on the front line and open for an attack. Alex was the one picked to be the front liner so the plan was rolled out as quickly as it came.

Alex took notice of the scent in the air begin to spell odd. The scent kind of smelt like the training room. Before he has time to recall what the scent might be Alex sees what it was giving off the smell - A gun. These guys had guns, they were given fool's information! Things just got too problematic, Alex was not sure if he was fast enough to dodge gun shots. The wind picked up and blew against his face.

The new experience of a gun being pointed at him made Alex understand. He knew what a hunted and cornered animal would feel like. He froze only for a split second so by the time guy had turned to face him with the gun aimed and ready. Alex had already moved before the would be shooter could fully turn to face him. He was not planning to stay away for long just enough time for him to draw his swords. His bow would be too slow and if he stayed close he might be able to stop the gun from being aimed. He hoped Megan could handle her self if he was not fast enough to stop him from taking some shots.

Megan, continuing her dead run after Alex, was aware of the two men that they were tailing in the meanwhile as she kept her gaze fixated on the scene unfolding before her. Alex was quick, wily, and she found herself admiring his swift pursuit of the enemy. But that admiration turned into a very mechanical process -- one she'd look back later and wonder on.

As the men turned towards Alex and raised their firearms, Megan had the image of Alex dodging out of the way. In the same instant, two emotions raced through her, as if up her metallic arm and out her organic one. The fear that she'd hit Alex with a shot -- and the knowledge that she was also in the line of fire, being behind him. The action she took, however, was to raise her metal arm. Her open palm pointing at one of the gunmen she fired right away, not waiting to see if she'd hit him as she rolled and pumped the manual reload crank on the way up. She took aim at the other gunman and fired, then having to roll and scramble out of the way of return fire herself. She hadn't killed both, if either of them.

She was hurting, but she had no time to see just why yet.

Alex had stopped his roll and drew his blades. He placed them in a guarding 'X' shape to try and stop any shots that might come his way. He got up off his knees and charged at the wounded gunman. A few shots had already been and Alex was not sure who was hit or who did the firing. Alex readied his right arm to bring the hook of one of the sword down on the blade. By the time Alex had was able to strike the gun from the guy's hand it was gone. Alex had missed, he was too slow to hit the target was aiming for. He was out paced by a human, that he was sure slower then him.

The man had moved back and was stilling his hand to take a shot at his head. Alex lunged at the man to try and tackle him down. Mid lung he heard two shots and then felt one shot go into his calf muscle a second shot grazed the back of his ankle. Then Alex felt contact of him slamming into the guy.
