The Commodore impatiently paced back and forth in his office, eyeing both the Petty Officer sitting in front of him and the dossiers he had received. "Hand me those dossiers again. I want to make sure I looked over them correctly." The Petty Officer reluctantly handed them to him, as it was the fifth time he had checked them in the past hour. "Megan Tsushiro. Ensign. Proficient doctor and... cyborg. Interesting combination in my opinion, don't you think?" The Petty Officer nodded, willing back an eyeroll. The Commodore had said the same thing the last three times he checked her dossier. "And here... Nezuel Tasuma. Commander. Apparently overdue for a promotion as well." The Petty Officer started to hum a tune out of boredom. The Commodore tossed the dossiers back on his desk. "Then, there's you. Petty Officer Salvatore. Not sure what someone as green could be doing on a mission this potentially dangerous, but I trust the brass. At least you got here quickly." Salvatore nodded and slumped further into the chair, resting his face on his hands. "Yeah, at ease. I'm sure they'll be here soon enough. I've definitely got a lot to tell them in a short time." |

Nezuel couldn't remember if he had visited this island before. He supposed not or else he would have remembered the incredible sense of alcohol coming from each building any ally. That type of permanent odor was not the type of thing one forgot so easily. He himself had never been drunk and had in fact never taken part it any type of spirits. He didn't particularly dislike alcohol (besides the smell) but simply disliked the effect it had upon ones body. He desired absolute control of his own body and alcohol tended to diminish what influence he had. There was also the fact that it was terrible for you body and as a marine he considered it best if he kept himself in shape. He supposed it might be his tight control and tip top shape that led to the opportunity for him to be promoted. It was not an opportunity he sought out but neither was it one he avoided. He believed that the marines (and not the WG) would promote him according to their own will and when they deemed him worthy. It was not up to him whether he got promoted or not and so he simply didn't worry about it. When he arrived in the town he instantly set about finding the marine base. After getting directions from some local marines and waiting for the base's secretary he found his way to the commodore's office. Knocking gently on the door he would wait to be called in before entering the room. He took in the two men before him for a second before letting out a bit of air, it still a bit cold and visible from being within him. "Nezuel D. Tasuma, sir." |

Megan unwrapped the towel that had been coiled carefully on her head and dipped it into the hot waters here in the hot springs of Hungover Island. She had gravitated here pretty quickly as the hovering along the streets had made her feel unclean pretty fast. This was her fourth day here, in fact, having done billets on a Marine voyage as a doctor and ending up here to carry out a mission she'd apparently been given from higher up. She liked that; it meant someone had noted her progress and deemed her fit for true duties. She stood up out of the baths reluctantly, her body meeting the slightly cooler air and tensing a little but nowhere close to shivering, it was so warm in here. She stepped out of the pool and grabbed her towel, drying off and keeping her metal arm away from the waters as she'd done the whole time. She dried herself off pretty quickly and then grabbed her clothes to head off and change into her Marine uniform. Today was an important one; she could feel it, regardless of this stinking location. She'd been here a few days and had in fact denied Marine lodgings, as they were usually fairly basic and tactless to her tastes; she liked staying at local inns and hotels, especially ones with a view. So she quickly, once leaving the bathhouse fully clothed in her Navy outfit with the cap began a light, measured jog to the Marine base. Once there she saluted herself through the door and made her way through and along the hallways to the office belonging to the Commodore she'd been told to see today, at this time. She entered, thinking she was about to brief herself to a secretary. Instead, she found herself stepping into the room beside a Marine facing the Commodore already standing behind his desk; Megan could see his insignias and Commodore perks on his uniform as she straightened and gave him a stiff salute. "Doctor -- Ensign Megan Tsushiro, sir." she said, surprising herself at the small mixup in identity. Well, that wasn't quite true. She was a doctor, but was realizing she'd have to start letting that go, keeping the knowledge and fully allowing herself to become the Marine she knew she was born to be. |

The Commodore let out a sigh of relief as the first officer entered, acknowledging him at first with a nod. "Commander, have a seat. It shouldn't be long, as by my reports the last person I'm waiting on is already-" Sure enough, before he could finish, the female ensign they were waiting on arrived. "And there we are. Welcome, Ensign Tsushiro. Why don't you three sit down?" Salvatore, who was taking a nap, abruptly woke up as the two officers sat on either side of him. He looked around confused before getting his bearings and remembering where he was. "I am Commodore Aster," he said, sitting on his desk as opposed to the chair behind it. "You three have been chosen for this mission because you were relatively close, your dossiers look good, and you're up for promotion. As I'll later explain further, you're also here because you're not from here." He began to clack his Den Den Mushi on and off, each time with a kachap. "Hungova Island is known for two things recently. The greatest alcohol you'll ever drink, and the fact that it was torn apart not too long ago. This base here is tasked with the reconstruction. I've noticed in the past month or so that more and more people on the island have been getting sick. And I don't mean alcohol sickness." He took a bottle of liquor that was on his desk and held it up. "No, I haven't been drinking on the job. I picked up this stuff two weeks ago because I had a hunch. Sure enough, it's toxic. Not enough to kill you... at first." He put the bottle down hesitantly. "I ordered everyone on base to stop drinking any alcohol from the island, and what do you know... we're the only ones who haven't been feeling under the weather." "Obviously, this is something that needs to be stopped. I want to give you guys a chance to figure this mess out before I have to put an end to it. Because if I call poison and force them to stop producing, this island will go under. Whoever is up to this could get away scot-free, and the island will lose business for having poison in their still. This needs to be done quickly but quietly, for the sake of everyone here. This island and our reputation here is on the line. We're already rough with them because we didn't successfully defend against the attack that wrecked this island to begin with." He looked at all three of them, pointing to them one-by-one. "I'm giving you three carte blanc here. I've given Petty Officer Salvatore a further debriefing, so he knows where to go from here." With that, he gestured for them to get out and to it. After stepping outside the office, Salvatore began to speak. "Right, I'm Salvatore. I'm beneath you two in rank so I won't be making any decisions here, but I do recommend we ditch the white and blue. We don't have to go undercover, but Marines snooping around will set off all the red flags." He nodded to the bunk rooms on the right side of the hallway. "I'm going to change into something else, and with all due respect I suggest you do the same, sir and ma'am. Right after you change we can head to the docks. There's only one place that handles all of the still on the island and it's Hillibai Distribution, run by Hillibor Hillibai." ooc note

As he heard someone else enter the Commodore's office he turned his body and head slightly to allow himself to look upon the new arrival. Needing a second to inspect her his eyes would soon settle upon her sharp features and the fact that one of her arms was metal. He remembered her then, one of the recruits he had fought during his time in the academy. If he recalled correctly their battle had ended in a draw. He had used her retractable arm against her and had sent her flying into a wall. She on the other hand had purposely missed when it came to shooting a bullet into his skull. Although it had been a draw he supposed that she would have won in real life. She might have needed medical attention after his final move but a bullet in his skull was almost guaranteed to kill. Their battle had happened what seemed like a long time ago and no doubt the results would differ from the first time. He sat down when the man told them to, taking a seat near the slumbering marine that had been in the room before him. Just seeing the man sleeping on the job left a bad taste in his mouth and a bad thought in his head. Still he withheld his judgment for the moment, if he had been selected for this mission he must have some redeeming features to make up for his apparently slumbering habit. Sighing he would sit through the rest of the commodore's lecture before leaving the office. He held his tongue as the marine, Salvatore, seemed to talk about a strategy that had seemed rather obvious to him. The commodore had told them not to raise suspicions and it was quite obvious that marines, especially one that was a 10 ft tall and an ice giant and one that was cybrog, walking around town talking about poison would raise little more than a couple of flags. Sighing he would enter one of the bunk rooms to change. He had been lucky enough to bring his marine uniform from before his recent..change. It was a complete color change, from the marine while to deathly black. He left the coat, both the proper one and the one he usually hung on his shoulders in the room, it simply seemed too mariney. Stepping out of the dressing room with a black dress vest and lower dress pants to match he would wait for the rest of his companions to return from their clothing adventure. As she exited he would speak to to girl, Tsushiro he believed her name was. "Tsushiro, I remember you...what're you thinking?" |

Opening the door and stepping into the Commodore's office, Megan was pleasantly surprised to see someone she recognized there already. Her eyes went from Nezuel, there when she'd first become a Marine, and the reclining Salvatore to the Commodore that bade she take a seat. Complying, Megan sat opposite Nezuel beside the sleeping Salvatore -- who woke up as she did so. She pointed a finger discreetly up front to the Commodore as he began to brief them. She listened attentatively as he did so, taking notes not only on what she'd heard but what an old teacher of hers had called things you could be asked about, anything. Who or what could possibly be interested in poisoning the entire Islands' alcohol supply? Where was the poison and alcohol intersecting? Where was such poison coming from .. she had a lot of questions, but had the distinct feeling that the Commodore was short on time. He seemed practically itching to jump off the table he was sitting upon. And he did just that, then left, as soon as he'd finished briefing them. This was probably how it really went, Megan figured. You got your orders, you did them. You learned what you needed to about the mission during the briefing, so remembering what was said as well as possible was a must. This was how the Marines went like clockwork in this world. She had to bring herself back to the present as Salvatore began to brief them himself. "Then Hilibai Distribution its gonna be." she said and left the briefing room, heading to the womens' changerooms to get into something more normal. Finding her locker and the usual few outfits she had in there for just-in-case moments like this, she slipped out of her Marine uniform, keeping her athletic underwears on and pulling black tights, an olive green t-shirt and a light brown leather coat with the ankle-high heelless shoes for more domestic occasions, like ventures on the docks. She banged her locker shut and, taking one last look in the bathroom mirror, went to rejoin Nezuel and Salvatore. She opened the door and walked back into the Commodore's office, feeling refreshed and ready. Nezuel came up and asked her something. "Whats that mean? I'm gonna stop these people getting sicker than they already are, for one thing. What'r you thinking?" she asked him, not sure how to take his question since their last interaction had been a mock battle. "Shall we head to ol' Hilibai then?" she asked the two of them, itching to uncover such an unfair plot. |

After Salvatore finished changing into his new clothes, he was now wearing blue pants, with a sleeveless white shirt, with a blue sleeveless jacket, that had some gold on the pockets and a white design on the shoulders. Blue bandages wrapped around his right hand and going up his forearm. Inside of his pocket a den den mushi to keep in contact with the Commodore, he kept his weapon attached to his back. It was still marine-like colors, but it didn't look like marine clothing, he walked out to see the others already having changed, "Well then should we get to the docks?" asking them since they seemed ready as he was. (OOC: So I guess I'm npcing this guy and commodore when I need to while we do our thing) |

Nezuel gave his partner's new look a quick glance, his eyes glancing over both her change of clothes and the mechanic arms upon her body. "Thats quite a noble goal." He would say as she said she would try to stop those already sick from getting any sicker. "But to what depth would you go? Would you merely stop the physical symptoms of the poison on the people or perhaps heal the mental as well. I don't know if you've noticed but the people here are sick in more ways than one. He was, of course, talking about the dependency on alcohol. Yes their addiction was someone justified and yes their economy would collapse if it vanished but he still considered it a terrible sickness indeed. "The best thing to do might be to just reveal the poison and let all the alcohol and sickness leave that way." he was quite for a moment. "I suppose though that a knife to the heart, while it may get the poison out of the blood quickly, would also kill the host. Besides, it would mean we wouldn't get promoted." It was, in many ways, a test for the female cyborg marine. He didn't want a faceless woman as his subordinate but a person with which he could bounce ideas of. This was a test, would she pass or fail...what would she see in him, his words, and how would she respond. |

"It seems like you care more about the promotion than the helping of the people here. We just need to go see what Hilibai is up to and find out if he has been poisoning the alcohol, find proof, from there we can arrest them." not sure if this guy really cared about the people or not, but he didn't like him mentioning killing the people, even if he was just trying to joke around, he took his job seriously "Once we prove it we should know more and the marines stationed on the island can help out the people along with the hospitals." he knew he shouldn't talk to superiors that way but felt as if it was needed, walking off to head to find the man and do some searching. |

Megan left the changing room feeling fairly ready to go -- but would have to contend with a fellow officer first. "I know, Nezuel." she replied to him, somewhat sardonically. "I'm a doctor. And we need to find exactly where this is all coming from, who is most dependant on it. This is the best alcohol this Island has ever seen? Well, there has to be a reason its so addictive -- and killing everybody slowly, too. At least now we're changed, we can fit into the crowd a little better and start sniffing around. We've got a real jerk to find." She adjusted her cybernetics a little and paid attention to Salvatore, who clearly knew more than they did about the situation. He was, perhaps, their testing officer. Trust the Marines to place a subordinate in such a position. "Okay." she said to Salvatore, giving Nezuel a final glance, a sort of we'll discuss this later in detail, don't worry pal look. "Lets not only find them ... but maybe ... give them a taste of their own medicine. In terms of lifetime lost in prison, as those losing their lives drinking this stuff are." she finished, taking both Nezuel and Salvatore into account as she fell in line behind Salvatore and began following him towards Hilibilai. That small, cold nervousness began to blossom in her belly as the weight of this assignment finally came down upon her. This was a big responsibility. She could only hope she was ready ... |

It had seemed unlikely to him, though certainly a possible outcome he had considered, that the both of them would take what he had said in a way that looked like something other than what he had actually been saving. Salvatore in particular seemed to only focus on the fact that he had been talking about killing the people of the town without realizing that he had been talking metaphorically and hypothetically. If he really was a testing officer he should atleast be able to know what was being said...if not then he would hate to be punished for a simple misunderstanding. Megan on the other hand seemed to either not understand him fully or understand him and, judging by the look she gave him, wish to discuss it some other time. "It is likely that whoever is poisoning all the alcohol on the island would not be so naive as to be alone. The funds and connections needed to achieve such a thing would mean we're either looking at one of the more successful alcohol barons or some sort of underground criminal...possibly new to the area and establishing his power base. At some point it is likely that, unless we resolve the issue quickly or quietly, a fight will begin. If this happens I want you two to focus on making sure any civilians in the area are protected, they should be our top priority. Lastly...I don't want any heroes, act smart, understand?" He looked at the two. |

He started heading towards the streets, heading towards the building that the alcohol was made in, "So are we going there to check things out, what if he's not even there? Should we have someone look for him if he's not where they make the alcohol?" having someone to watch the main man while they check out where everything is made could be useful in his opinion, with their den den mushi's they can keep each other informed. "What do you guys want to do exactly? We might not even need to fight, once we get the proof. Hopefully." thinking it would be better, wondering if they might want to split up, if he ended up being at the place then the one there could let the others know. Saying this in a lower voice since they were walking in the streets and people were walking nearby. |

As they continued down the streets of Hungova Island, Megan took in the citizens reveling in the streets -- it was an ordinary bedlam of, well, drunk and hung over people. But at least here, people could handle their drinks. Heck, they'd been raised to do so. What Megan had her eyes open for was people that looked or acted out of the ordinary, sick even. It was a long shot, but if she could pinpoint some people suffering from this illicit alcohol ... "Well, if you want, I can keep an eye out for any suspicious movement when we get to the brewery. You never know what could happen once we start sniffing around. Someone quickly walking away ..." she offered as a solution to Salvatore, keeping what Nezuel had to say in mind. It was possible that this could end very badly... But if they could pinpoint any leaks in information, or evidence pointing them towards the source of the poisoning going on, then they were already well on their way to succeeding on their mission, as well. "Maybe there's someone there that will talk, too. Who do you guys think could know about this?" she asked them, thinking herself as they approached the main brewery district, the location much of the alcohol was made on this most festive of Islands. "Perhaps someone here is peddling those wares." she said as she began looking around for some of the local vendors. |

"I would rather prefer that the three of us stay together due to the simple fact that we don't know what we're getting ourselves into. Should we get the proof and he is not there then we should request reinforcements if we know where he or she is going and at least inform the captain if we don't. Should it come down to it I want you to inform our superiors and I will give chase to our target...or ensure that we are safe from immediate danger. Megan, I trust you with the job of doing either or should one of us need help." "If we want to limit the chance of someone walking away then we will ahve to appear nonthreatening...something that might be difficult considering my size and megan's arms. Perhaps it would be for the best if we pose as some sort of new contractor looking for a steady supply of spirits/ I could pass off as a half giant perhaps and see if someone would be interested in giving us a tour or information...though it might be unlikely that whoever is poisoning the alcohol would want to expand to different island, instead insist on building the power base here. "It could even be a pirate on the island, forcing them to do this." thinking out loud as they were walking, looking at some of the people, wondering if the three of them together looked odd. Listening to them talk, "That sounds fine." talking about his plan of him informing superiors. Then listening to his next idea, "That could work, but if it doesn't we'd be stuck with those identities and if they see us inside we'd have trouble for sure. I think I'm just a bit nervous about this all. Sorry." They were approaching the outside of the brewery, it was a large building that would take some time to actually search through, a few men were outside watching the perimeter, making sure no alcoholics were trying to break in and kill themselves drinking it all. There was a smaller building attached to it, where people could go in and taste the different kinds of beer they had and learn about their history... |
