[Graded]Flaming Monkey in a Barrel

There was a lone barrel in the middle of the ocean, just bobbing up and down. It was made of a nice oak wood, and was waterproofed from the inside. It had silver bolts on the lids, and silver strips covering the cracks of the barrel. However, singing could be heard from inside the barrel. It sounded like an evil song, when put in context to what the man inside of it could do...

"Hotter than the sun; feel my fire;
Pyromaniac: my desire.
Thought that you could see the truth,
'Til I just burned down the booth.

Human Torch can't fuck with me;
Johnny Blaze: Suspect B.
Strike 'em quick, lightning fast;
Melt them bitches down to ash.

Gasoline, kerosene;
Strike the match, ignite the scene.
Shit will never be the same;
Feel the fury of my flame.

Beg for mercy: it won't help;
Embrace the ending you were dealt.
Seems you fucks will never learn;
Now sit back and watch me buuuuurn."

It was an old song that the man in the barrel once heard, but couldn't remember any other words because the woman singing it had the tendency of singing at the same tune of the music playing alongside the song. Xelobo Olagaxia was the inhabitant of the barrel, and was feeling quite cramped inside that wooden container. He was currently wearing his usual outfit of an olive-green hoodie on top of his white t-shirt that has a weird red symbol on it. He was wearing his chain-weapon as a belt, keeping his pants on him, along with his tan hiking boots covering his feet.

And Xelo would think of exiting the barrel, if it was not for the fact that he was the user of the Match Match no mi fruit. Like other Devil fruit users, once he hits the water, he sinks like a hammer. So even if the half-winged skypiean wanted to leave his little wooden prison he couldn't. At the cost of this, he was able to start a fire, acting like a match. Any friction on his body strong enough can light a fire. Heck, even snapping his fingers could burn the barrel from the inside out.

But Xelobo, although he risks his life all the time, does not want to do something so suicidal without any reward or goal in sight. So he just patiently sits in the barrel, singing that song verse one more time.

The Song

Nezuel

Nezuel had taken his small craft sometime during the night. He had figured that such a request wasn't all that important for Megan or Nina to come with him. The request was, after all, to find a ghost. Some nearby transport ships had been passing the are and had reported hearing the horrible moans of a nearby ghost. Scared out of their wits citizens that had arrived at the closest island had informed the marines there about the situation. Thinking it prudent Nezuel had taken the assignment under his own wing. He figured everyone was such a superstitious lot and it would only take him a few hours to snoop around then come back to town after finding nothing and the reports would stop.

What he found, or heard, was the supposed moans of the ghost. Listening to the odd lyrics coming from a floating barrel he had found certainly was odd. Sighing mentally to himself he would freeze the area around the barrel, stopping its motion suddenly and allowing him to jump down from the deck of his boat onto the ice below. Raising an eyebrow he would tap on the top of the barrel, curious if anyone would knock back. Truth be told he would be a bit amused if they did.

As Xelobo was about to sing another verse of the song, the rocking of ocean stopping the barrel. Xelobo has a double take, trying to figure out what was happening as it also got a heck of a lot colder around him. Good thing that the half-winged man inside the barrel was wearing appropriate clothing, and if he could he can start a fi- no... He's still in a wooden barrel, which can still burn down and have him sink into the ocean.

Then all of a sudden, he hears... footsteps? What oddness is happening right now? The sounds get closer, and closer, and closer.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

Xelobo has a second double take, seeing that there was someone knocking on the barrel. As if they were a visitor, wanting to hop into the barrel alongside the man. In fact, almost wanting to humor the person outside, he knocks on the barrel himself as well.

KNOCK KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK KNOCK ... KNOCK KNOCK!

After a couple of seconds, Xelobo determines that since he isn't feeling the motion of the ocean, he was on solid ground of some sort. Meaning he could leave this cramped space. Thank god, because it is quite stuffy, cold, and stiff in this little barreled prison. So, the poofy haired man bashes his head against the lid of the barrel. The first time, a part of the lid snapped but held still.

The second time he pushed the lid right off the barrel and balanced it on his head in a semi-cartoony way as his head rose right out of the barrel. He kept rising and rising, until he was fully standing and saying, "Hey man, thanks for helping me with my situaaaaaa-"

Xelobo was held on his word and eventually stopped, as he was looking at the abdomen at the man who knocked on the barrel. He tilted his upwards more and more, using his free hand to keep the lid on his head, and kept tilting more and more until his own eyes met with the ten foot tall man's gaze. Xelobo had a innocent smile on his face, although a bit too innocent in a way, because the half-winged skypiean is always grateful to the people who help him.

And quickly he glances around, noticing that the water frozen around the barrel had been frozen over... Was the man the opposite of him, being a user of variant of an ice-like devil fruit? Well, he shouldn't delve too deeply into this thought process, and so he holds out his hand upwards towards the gigantic man in front of him.

"situation! I was probably drifting in the seas for god knows how long and if I was out there any longer I probably would have just gotten sick inside this barrel, Ugwahaawaawaawaa~," Xelobo finishes his earlier sentence, keeping a nice smile on his face, with a tilted head, and for a couple seconds with closed eyes before opening his olive-iris eyes once more, looking into the tall man's own eyes.

Judging from the response from within the barrel he could assume that the occupant was still alive an healthy. It proved to him that the ghost wasn't really a ghost or unintelligent monster that was making noise out here on the ocean. Even so he supposed that just because it could reply to a simple knock or speak back to him didn't mean it was intelligent. He didn't recognize the face as it slowly lifted the lip of the barrel, choosing instead of simply lifting it with its hand and instead its head. Thinking about it the gesture reminded him of the parascopes of submarines raising and lowering.

The man's response to his presence, or perhaps his sheer presence and size, was typical of those within the blues. One did not expect to see a giant outside of the grand line and although he didn't have giant's blood within his veins (as far as he knew) he was as close a giant could be within the blues and as close a giant most people would ever come in contact with. What was most interesting to the giant marine captain, however, was not that the man was shocked about his size and height, no, that was common place. Instead the man had glanced at the surrounding ice and had seemed to shrug it off. He knew what he had done to create such an icy platform at lest in part.

This combined with his reluctance to enter the water and leave the barrel left him with a single conclusion...or hunch.

Nezuel offered the man his left hand, offering to help him get out of the barrel while also offering to shake his hand. Even as either of these actions were completed, however, Nezuel would slap on his pair of seastone cuffs onto the stranger. "Come on, lets get you something to drink" He'd say, turning around and walking back to the ship as if everything was natural. "after so long at sea you must be thirsty..or hungry, or both."

Xelobo looked at the tall and silent man raise a hand to the fluffy haired man, as if to offer to shake the hand and pull him out of the barrel. Xelobo with a smile, shakes the hand and gets a handcuff attached to it. He used the hand to pull himself out of the barrel, as the man told him to come with him, offering a drink to the skypiean.

Hopping out of the barrel, Xelobo would say, "Oh I am hungry and starving like you would not even beliiiiiieve! I have probably been out here for the past... What was it? If I had to take a guess, two... maybe three days in that barrel."

Xelobo would take the lead and walk past the tall guy, practically running. However, he was running for the boat that the man came here on. Xelobo hopped right on over the edge of the boat, turned around, and waved the man onto the boat with his staple creepy smile.

Once the man hops onto the ship, Xelobo would then try to grab the mans' hand and shake it, saying with a smile, "Thank you for getting me out of the barrel, once again. Well, my name is Xelobo Olagaxia, and yours? Oh, and if you don't mind me asking, why did you put these handcuffs on me? Oh god, word must be travelling fast if people know me like that already, Ugwahaawaawaawaa~"

Xelobo chuckled out loud, already thinking back to how he helped someone on another island out with revolutionary type stuff, like making sure that Bandits were not getting their hands on marine equipment. However, Xelobo's memory on the events was quite foggy due to the lack of food and water he had to deal with for the past two to three boring days.

And this man, was more than likely a marine, due to the quickness of cuffing Xelobo and the fact that he more than likely has his hands on an ice-type of Devil Fruit. From what he can tell currently, Xelobo should NOT mess with this man. I mean, first this guy was out of Xelobo's league, since he has a Devil Fruit that completely froze the area around Xelobo's barrel in a quick couple of seconds. Second, until Xelobo can confirm this guy is a corrupt marine or not, Xelobo will assume this is a good marine; which means that he does not want to mess and/or hurt the marines that do their job well.

Reactions tell a lot about people. Sometimes, during an interrogation, the detective would place a plate of doughnuts in the middle of the table. The idea is that they are complementary for you while you wait but the true meaning is to find the amount of guilt within the accused. A guilty man, yet good, wouldn't eat the doughnuts for fear of guilt while an innocent would eat one or a few. A savy or guilty man would eat them all, not caring for his own hunger and instead looking to look innocent for eating the offering. In the same way a person once cuffed could do a few things.

The first, and most common, was to plead innocence, most likely if one was innocent. The second would be to start cussing and/or fighting that which had cuffed on self, usually indicating one's violent crime and forced bondage. A third was a person remaining silent, quite possibly because they knew they had done something to deserve such a thing and subconsciously knew they deserved to be cuffed or detained. This was the second question he posed to the stranger, to gleam the hidden knowledge from between his eyes, the first his knowledge of devil fruits and the second his guilt.

Of course it seemed that he was all to eager to relay his own adventures. If word was traveling fast about what he had done or who he was then it was obvious that he had done something significant. Far be it for him to stop the man from confessing, there was no way he'd think he wasn't on a marine ship, after all the sail and everything around him said as much, almost as much as the captain insignia upon the ice giant's shoulders. Regardless of what he may have done he was still a human being and, with the cuffs on, mostly harmless, it would do him no harm to give him food.

Moving towards the kitchen he would invite the man in and sit him down at a table before fetching some food and drink. Moments later he would return with a plate of rice, some chicken, and a glass of water with ice in it. Due to Nezuel's presence the room was well ventilated and air conditioned. Passing the plate to the cuffed man he would stand, waiting for him to or to not dig in before asking his question. "Explain yourself."

Xelobo followed the man into the kitchen, now noticing the attire the man was wearing. Apparently he was a marine, and the fact that the insignia on his collar read captain... That screamed nothing but trouble for Xelobo. Or at least if Xelobo really cared for what happened to him, but the man was all to nonchalant about himself.

Xelobo then took a seat as he watched the tall man go and grab the guy some food. He looked around, noticing the simple decor to this marine ship. I mean, it has to be since this guy was such a high ranking marine. Plus, it felt really nice to sit in it, as it was properly air conditioned. Heh, the guy can only imagine being in a ship like this in the future.

The tall man then returned with a plate of food and a drink, which Xelobo had a little bit of drool hanging off the edge of his mouth once he saw the feast before him. Xelobo looked at the man and said with sincerety, "Wow, thanks!"

He then picks up a fork with his cuffed hand, and pokes into a piece of the chicken. He pops it into his mouth, and what he was met with was a piece of chicken that was not warm enough for Xelobo. The fluffy haired picked up the entire plate with one hand, and put his other hand underneath it. Then he snaps his fingers of his free hand, however nothing came out which confused Xelobo at first. He snaps a couple more times, thinking he wasn't putting in enough friction, but soon realized that nothing was happening.

He put the plate down and started contemplating why his powers were missi-, oh wait. These cuffs must be made of seastone, because those can nullify devil fruit users' powers. The only way Xelobo learned of these types of cuffs was through his father when he was showing off his usual marine equipment. Before he died, his father had a pair of cuffs that were the same, and it only dawned on him now that these cuffs on Xelobo's hands were the same. Welp, this situation turned sour real fast for the half-winged man.

He took a large chunk of chicken before popping it into his mouth before he grabbed the cup and drank a little, just enough to parch his thirst. Xelobo kept on eating until all the chicken was gone first, leaving the rice alone and half the glass of water was drank in order to help Xelobo to keep the semi-warm chicken down.

The man then told Xelobo to explain, which the half-winged person then starts with his constant smile and his hands folded together right in front of his plate of rice, "Well, first of all, I still would like to know your name. And what I was trying to do, was use my devil fruit powers to heat up the food a little, as it was a little undercooked for my tastes. No offense to you whatsoever! However, these cuffs make it really hard to do it. And if you are wondering about how I was in that barrel... Well, I heard a rumor on an island that a marine was supplying the local bandits with marine-grade weaponry. I investigated in order to make sure that was the case, but the marine interfered and tried to arrest me. I had to unfortunately kill him, but it seemed the rumor was indeed correct as he carried a transcript of the illegal dealings. I tried to deal with the bandits, but they clunked me over the head and sent me adrift into the sea, until you found me. Which, again, I thank you for!"

Nezuel stood near a nearby wall, leaning against it as the man seemingly devoured the food he had delivered upon him. It was a normal reaction...mostly. The unnatural motions the man maid, lifting the plate and then snapping his fingers beneath it, almost seemed to vindicate Nezuel that his suspicions were correct. Truth be told it was something of a lucky guess, that he had managed to cuff someone that seemed to have a devil fruit. He had simply meant to see the man's reaction to being cuffs and see if he was guilty or felt guilty. He supposed that was what happened when the only pair of cuffs was made of seastone.

As the man ate, Nezuel took some time to look him over. Besides his strange mannerisms possibly connected with his devil fruit there was still the fact that he had a wing on the back of his body. This man, he wagered, was not from the blues. Those within the blues were normal humans, those who desired normal and peaceful life. There were, on occasions, fishmen that came from fishman island within the new world but nothing had been seen as a winged group of people. He made a mental note to check to marine library for any information on the subject.

Nezuel raised an eyebrow as the man answered his question with a shocking amount of candid truth. Did he believe that he owed him something for saving his life and thus had decided to tell only the truth...or was he just an idiot? Regardless he had just confessed to a marine captain a crime and as a marine he had to do something about that. "I am Marine Captain Nezuel D. Tasuma." he would answer, moving down to take a seat opposite from the man. "While I may understand your reason for doing so you have just confessed to a crime and while some areas of my job may be morally grey this is not. As a citizen you should have tried to apprehend the marine and get evidence before revealing his corrupt nature, with such evidence I could have helped you. With him dead by your hand, and your confession, the case is rather cut and dry, I'm afraid. I'll give you some time to think about what you'll say next."

Thinking about what to do in the situation he began to reach for his den den mushi to call someone.

Xelobo listens as the man introduces himself as Captain Nezuel D. Tasama. At least Xelobo's first question was answered, but what came afterward slightly ticked the haired man off. I mean, Xelobo probably did a job of a marine, for this marine captain. No one was probably the wiser about the corrupt marine's dealings with the bandits, except for him and the other person that helped him out with the upheaval of the bandits, and yet this man was going to arrest him for murdering someone in self-defense.

This was why he liked being a revolutionary, rather than work for the World Government who arrests people who do not follow the rules book-by-book.

Xelobo opens his mouth to say something, but the captain got up and headed over to the next room, leaving Xelobo to his own freedoms in the main area. Exhaling, Xelobo got out of his chair and started walking towards the door that Nezuel entered. As Xelobo neared the door, he shook his boot off of his foot, revealing the sock that he was wearing. Now the one-boot Xelobo lifts his foot to the door handle, and the foot slips off the first time. He raises his foot one more time, and grips his toes on the door handle. Pulling down and hopping backwards, Xelobo opens the door and faces the Marine who was on the phone, and chuckles out loud.

The half-winged man then says, with a slightly more serious look with his goofy smile, "Hey hey hey, no need to call me a criminal right off the bat. If you had say, oh I don't know, looked in my pocket, you would find the very same transcript I nabbed off of the same marine. And by the way, when I said 'arrest me', it was more like, 'putting a gun to the forehead of a nearby person, while telling me to jump into the ocean.' I was only doing my duty as a citizen to fix the problems that the marines should have been able to handle, since no one was investigating this rumor except for me."

He tapped his socked foot on the wooden floor of the boat, while leaning his body towards the right. While leaning, his jackets continued to fall straight down, but the interior of the jacket revealed a folded piece of paper, which unfolded actually had details of the times he should drop off weapons and pick up the payments, which varied each day of the week, and was signed by a one, 'Lieutenant Junior Grade Jon O. Byzantine.'

While leaning, Xelobo then says with a less than chipper voice, sounding much more serious, "Now trust me when I say that I have nothing but the utmost respect for good marines like yourselves. But corrupt marines or people who just do things without disregard of anyone around them... Makes my blood boil, no pun intended; so please at least try to learn the details before making the judgements, riiiiiight?~"

There was something about this call that made Xelobo... Uneasy. I mean, Xelobo was completely fine being in a regular jail. However, this phone call hinted at something much worse than he could imagine. Maybe the same people who basically hired his mother in the past, since all Xelobo could remember about her job was that she worked for the government, but definitely not as a marine. If there was a god, please let it not be those guys. Were they actively looking for the kid who murdered one of their ex-members? This was one of the only self-preservation things that Xelobo will really stand for in this case.

Nezuel's first response to the man's retort was the question of why he didn't report the event that had happened with the corrupt marine. It only took him a second before he realized that it had been because he had tried to deal with the bandits himself and had, in fact, been dumped onto the ocean before he had had the chance. It was a tough call for the marine captain. On one hand he could believe the man that the marine was corrupt and that it had been self defense and on the other he couldn't. The first option had a degree of ambiguity to it that he honestly didn't like. The second meant the man was going to go to prison very soon.

Making up his mind Nezuel would put the den den mushi down, handing it up as he did so. "Fine: he would say as he turned to face the man again. "Since I'm inclined to believe you I'm going to give you a chance. The fact remains that you killed an officer of a law and didn't report it...albeit for obvious reasons. Your options are such: go to jail to await judgment and possible execution or come with me back to the island and help me take them out."

Xelobo listened to the man's offers and thought it through to himself. At first, Xelobo would have completely agreed to go with him, but the idea left his head once Xelobo realized his current condition. He was tired as all hell, as he has not had a good night/day of sleep due to lack of food and water. The half-winged man was weakened due to the said hunger, hydration, and sleep issues he has had over the past couple of days. And finally the fact was that if he lead Nez to where he was actually shipped away into a barrel, there was a high chance that Nez would learn about Xelobo's acquaintance, Art the Rorschach mask. One thing Xelobo wanted to avoid, was to sell out his best bud.

Xelobo cleared his throat as he kneels on the ground, and says with an apologetic smile, "I am sorry, but I will have to accept you sending me to some sort of jail. In my current state, I'm quite useless. Sure you have fed me and got me hydrated, but it would take me a while to fully recover from the adverse affects of not eating nor drinking for multiple days on end. Plus I have not had much sleep. So, here's an offer I can give to you, which is a compromise between the two. You could take the transcript in my coat, and head on over to the bandit hideout. Meanwhile I can sit in a jail cell and rest up, waiting patiently for your return. Does that make any seeeense?"

There was only one sheet of paper in Xelobo's coat, although the transcript does not appear to be missing any sheets. There was another sheet that went along with it, detailing the islands that are involved, which were two. That second sheet with those details was burned up, as Xelobo thought he could use the first sheet in some way shape or form. Lo and behold, this was a perfect situation to use such an item, in order to sway a marine's actions in the half-winged man's favor.

Plus, the fact that the transcript sheet did not include any information about the islands involved allowed Xelobo to use any island that came to his mind. Although it would result in Xelobo's demise, it would be better to sit in a jail cell than walk around with a Captain, and have someone recognize Xelobo and what the man did, along with an unnamed friend of his.

Xelobo tilts his head at the giant man, wondering what he was going to do next, but does so with a nice smile on his face towards the giant man.

Nezuel

Nezuel's eyes narrowed on the revolutionary man before him. Unaware of the man's true nature and his somewhat chaotic, yet also helpful, way he would have to rely on what he had seen of the man during their brief interaction with one another to determine the man's guilt. So far he had done rather well but he had failed the last test, that of his guilt and innocence. Any truly righteous man would have attempted to force the bandits to stop their activities regardless of their own strength. A good man would never back down from stopping the innocent from being hurt and a righteous one would have no problem helping a marine officer of the law execute that law. This told him two thing about the man and that was that he was neither good nor righteous. He was simply worried about his own selfish little hide.

Going forward he would grab the man's hand with the cuffs upon it, twisting his arm around his back to slap down upon his other wrist. "You are under arrest for the murder of a marine officer." he would say, dragging the man off to the bottom of the ship and the holding cells there. While doing so he would proceed to take the slip from the now defenseless man. Opening the cell door he would allow him to walk himself inside and get acquainted with the rather empty cell, centered around the mast of the ship and away from any of the walls and body of the ship proper.

With that taken care of Nezuel went up top and set course for the closest marine island he figured was strong enough to house a man with a devil fruit like the one below. Of course since he was going to come back to the man after he had taken care of the bandit he wouldn't bother taking off the cuffs once he was transported but simply have him wear the same cuffs until he returned. Of course the key would stay with him while the man did his sentence on Hungova Island.

-end-

For Mods
-Xelobo is now wearing a pair of seastone cuffs, Nez has the key. He will be forced to find someone who can remove them
-Request a bounty for killing a marine and refusing to help a marine deliver justice upon bandits/outlaws (and thus endangering civilians).
