Self-Proclaimed Lazy Person
|
Today, the sky shone bright over the entirety of the island of Marineford, sacred bastion of the Navy's history. The sun shone bright, giving the blue color of the sky a very clear tone, and there were no clouds in sight. The wind was low, thus preventing the waters from collecting any more annoying waves that would calmly crash against the docks of the island, and the temperature was surprisingly just hot enough to considered comfortable and not downright awful. It was as if Marineford had become a summer camp placed right in the center of an immense and calm lake. In one way, it was an amazing view, but in another way, it was almost downright intimidating. However, for many of the officers that stood on the island, it was quite pleasant. At least, for once, it wasn't either too hot or too cold. Away from Marineford, one could see a ship that was slowly heading towards the docks. As it approached the island, one would easily mistake it as a basic trading ship, but most of the officers in the area were firmly aware of the ship's true nature. After all, it had visited Marineford a few times before by the woman who usually rode it - of which went by the name of Lilith - for the sole purpose of delivering Falcone Technologies weaponry to the Navy, mainly cheap and easily-made FPR-1 rifles that has recently been started to be used by officers of the island. However, this time, it was different. Today was going to be a special day for the crew of the ship. Today was showcasing day for Falcone Technologies, the day they were going to display many of their new weaponry to the individual who currently oversees them, Vice-Admiral Jonathan Mercier. Along with him, there were also going to be two individuals who were going to study the weaponry and dictate whether or not they were going to be approved by the World Government so that they could then be supplied to Marine troops around the globe. As such, there was now an additional member aboard of the ship. It had been several days ever since Joy had contacted Velvet with anything else but bills and the completion of official letters, and it had also been several days ever since she had actually seen her. More approximately, she has left Velvet while she was still in Simplyacity, and, as such, there wasn't much that the secretary now knew about Velvet's current case other than the fact that she was currently located at the Land of Peace and Prosperity, judging by the recent reports that were sent to her recently by the Vice-Admiral herself. As such, it was one of the main reasons why she had decided to come along with the Running Ram crew: though she was indeed here to also assure that the showcasing was going to go well, she would also wait here in Marineford for Velvet's arrival, for her Queen has already told that she was going to come here. The trip was fortunately relatively calm, but, of course, Joy being Joy, it was not a surprise that she left many of her crewmates occupied for most of the travel. The only one she spared was Lilith, of which was forced to sail the ship around the ocean as relatively well as she possibly could. Joy found it surprising that the Valkyrie - for that is what the Servant had decided to name her own beautiful crew members, thus setting them apart from the Statues and the Weavers she left behind for Marineford - was able to resist the urges that usually befell on most of the other Valkyries of her group. Even when they arrived at the docks of Marineford and docked the ship correctly, Lilith acted accordingly and correctly, delivering the goods along with the others like all Valkyries must do in public, for it is the word of St. Falcone. She even wished to remain on the ship to secure it too, just like the good girl she was. As Joy got off the ship, she would notice that Vice-Admiral Mercier was standing not too far from where she was alongside her Valkyries, which all wore the standard Marine uniform and were about six in total. He stared at them alongside two other individuals - a feminine-looking man and a woman who were both wearing plain working suits, and sporting short brown hair and green eyes, almost as if they were twins - all the while he remained silent, his hands behind his waist. He glazed over the crates in which the Valkyries descended on the docks and then transported with small carts with wheels, which of course has been made by them as well, also branded by Falcone Technologies, then decided that it was time to engage with Joy who had already spotted him. Approaching, he spoke up with a faint smile, but his eyes surprisingly didn't seem to harbour much emotions: "Captain Joy. We were waiting for you." Joy would look over him with that same usual smile of hers on her face. The smile, as usual, accompanied with her unnatural beauty was enough to slightly intimidate the twins who accompanied Jonathan. Nevertheless, Joy was not worried by their presence. She was currently wearing the officer coat the Marines had given to her when they recruited her, a piece of cloth that she has not worn in a very long time now. "Naturally, my Vice-Admiral. After all, I had announced my visit quite some time ago." She replied with a teasing voice tone, her finger slowly heading up towards Jonathan's chin. The Vice-Admiral lightly frowned and quietly pushed away the Captain, but did not bother to ask any questions about her behaviour or even go as far as to comment on it. However, the twins were now glaring at Joy in disgust. They could not believe that a soldier of the Navy could act so shamelessly in public. Either way, it did not matter as, then, Joy walked by Jonathan and started walking towards another section of the docks, most precisely the location where they had agreed to go and showcase the weaponry. "Now, let us proceed, Jonathan. I doubt you have much time in your hands." "Mhm..." Again, the twins were left deeply shocked by the interaction they were witnessing, but Jonathan, again, did not seem to mind at all and barely reacted to Joy's behaviour in the slightest. So, he followed, the twins and the Valkyries carrying the boxes with their carts followed behind Joy. After some time of walking, they would find themselves in a less-occupied part of the docks where many Marine soldiers stood and patrolled. There were no civilian in sight here, only heightened security in case things go awry. Eventually, Joy and the Valkyries stopped and positioned themselves on the docks at a location that was facing the ocean. The crow-black-haired woman stood at the ocean with her deep blue eyes, seeming as though the water's own blue reflected against them in a strange mixture of pale and dark, then simply chuckled to herself quietly as she turned her head towards the Valkyries. The women then started putting the crates on the ground as carefully as they could. Some of the crates required two and even three of the Valkyries just to be able to put the crate on the ground below. "I suppose I already that we all have the authorization to use our fine products without being sanctioned now, do we?" She asked to Jonathan who simply only nodded, almost disinterested. The two twins watched with serious frowns as they then took out notepads from their pockets, seeming to be both absolutely in perfect synchronization between one another. The Valkyries then proceeded to open up one of the boxes. All the women took a single unit of the weapon for themselves. They were all rifles. However, they were... different from the Eagle. This one looked much more professional. Joy simply smiled and started to walk around the women and the boxes. "Well then, let us begin the showcasing. It has now been quite some time now since we have done such a thing, so, naturally, today will be a much more impressive showcase, I assure you. The last time we've spoken between one another, I have shown you the Raven, the Robin, the Sparrow and the Eagle, but today is a different day. Eventually, we all have to step away from the pistol and move along to the higher calibre. Of course, all of these weapons were first designed and made by our dearest Ms. Falcone, just as expected. I am only but a messenger. As such, I promise you that the quality of each of these weapons are of the finest creations. Should there be a scratch, feel absolutely free to immediately throw the weapon into the ocean. We, at Falcone Technologies, can only accept the refined and the perfected." The woman explained calmly with her sensual and teasing tone, the kind that would usually immediately entice your usual civilian. However, the twins were not too impressed for now. They had seen the Raven, the Robin, the Sparrow and the Eagle in person, and they were personally not expecting yet revolution from Falcone Technologies just yet. To come up with those formidable weapons to replace the old and unreliable flintlock weaponry they currently mostly possess all around the world is already pretty great, but Falcone Technologies is still a very young newcomer within the arms industry. Even if it is indeed mainly funded by the World Government, overestimating a company that has all the chances to fail is a dire mistake. In any case, the twins then turned their eyes towards the Valkyries and the weapons they carried. They could see the rifles were not Eagles. Definitely not, in fact. Yes, they looked similar when it comes to the general concept of a rifle... but their style was almost completely different. This one just looked superior, more refined than the Eagle. It was probably more expensive... but, then again, it was what they had asked for: superior weaponry compared to the cheaper products Joy has shown to them in the previous showcase which happened months ago. Joy then went and took one of the rifles for her own hands in the box, holding it firmly between her fingers. The weapon fit well in her arms, thus hinting at how comfortable it was. It looked intimidating, yet not horrible to look at. Just like the Eagle, it seemed this one also used a magazine system. Either way, the woman then went on to present the weapon, all the while some of the Valkyries then went on to take other weapons from the other boxes: "We shall start with our first weapon. I present to you the FAR-I, or "Falcon". As you can see, like the Eagle, this weapon possesses our revolutionary magazine system, thus greatly facilitating ammunition management. Their is only one difference between this weapon and the Eagle, however..." The woman then pointed the weapon towards the ocean and pressed on the trigger. Instantly, the weapon started shooting loudly. The automatic rate of fire immediately surprised the twins and the Marine soldiers who were in the area. Jonathan, him, simply stared at the piece of work in silence as Joy continued shooting and shooting non-stop. The sound it let out was a menacing torrent of death, something that would always want to avoid. Eventually, the torrent of death ended and Joy simply turned her head towards Jonathan in silence, smiling to him all the more. He simply remained silent, wishing for her to continue her presentation as the twins stared at her with mouths wide opened. She stared at him for a moment, her smile still kept on her face, then eventually went on to continue her presentation as she put the rifle back in its box. However, as she did so and continued to showcase the rest of her weaponry, she could not help but frown absentmindedly the more she would stare at Jonathan. She could not tell what it was, but, even as the torrents of fire banged beside her while bullets plunged into the ocean, her mind would entirely focus itself on Jonathan and how... well, lifeless he seemed to be. There was a great difference between the man she met previously back in the previous showcase and the man she saw now. It was a difference so great that it personally bothered her. Usually, it would not bother her so much. To her, men are men and women are women: as long as they can be pleased, they do not bother her... but this doesn't seemed to be the case with this person. No matter how many times she impressed the twins behind him, no matter how many times she tried to tease him, there were simply... no reactions from him. The more the showcase went on, the more she couldn't help but grow impatient. She wanted him to say something, wanted him to be at least shocked by her antics or at least bothered. This wasn't her Queen! Her Queen has the right to do that, but not this person! Of course not! Even as she went on to present her latter weapons, the ones of which were more on the explosive and heavy side of things, he would still not react to it. At this point, the twins were simply left mesmerized by how powerful these weapons were, and yet this man... had the audacity to not appear impressed at all by her Queen's work! So not only was he not impressed by her, she was also not impressed by the weapons themselves?! Blasphemy! Despite this, Joy kept her calm even as the explosions boomed beside her into the ocean. Even as the Marine soldiers around her stared at the showcase in complete awe alongside the twins, those lackeys from the World Government (!), she kept her calm and let her smile remain on her face. She did not unleash her powers onto Jonathan, no. There was no need for it. If she indeed tried to kill him, it would only cause more harm to her Queen than anything else. Whatever caused him to act so passively to what she was showing to everyone, it did not matter. In the end, she was showcasing her weapons to the World Government. In the end, she was making sure her Queen's creations would be used well. In the end, she was making sure that she had a purpose. If this man does not see the purpose of her actions, then so be it. So. Be it. As finished the showcase, Joy simply put her hands on her hips and smirked confidently as she stared at the explosions that were caused by the rocket launchers and the turret fire. She watched with confidence alongside the shocked twins and the awing Marine soldiers on patrol, yet, from the corner of the eye, she could still see that Jonathan was not reacting very much to what was happening. Instead, his dead eyes stared without emotion, not even seeming to look away from the explosions. Still, she asked, her voice as sensual as ever: "Any questions...~?" The public she had was left completely silent. Eventually, the twins that stared at the scene cracked and simply went to Joy with big childish smiles on their faces. The both of them were left absolutely astounded by what they saw and wished for all of the weapons to be immediately put into the Navy's care. In short, they wanted her to shut up and take Velvet's funding to her so she could make more of these things. Joy was left utterly satisfied by that, but her satisfaction was almost completely destroyed by Jonathan's silent reaction. He only nodded. That was his reaction. That was his reaction to what she had just shown. For a moment, Joy's hand shook and her smile twitched. Parts of her had become as sharp as a blade. Fortunately, nobody else but her noticed the happening and, taking a deep breath, she calmed down and allowed her hair to go back to normal. She reacted happily, tried to look pleased in front of Jonathan as she finished what she had started by coming here, which was really just to make sure these weapons would be approved by the World Government, then left the area of the docks alongside her Valkyries. They left the boxes with the soldiers and the twins, all the while Jonathan simply walked back to his office. As she walked back towards her ship, Joy, her, had lost her smile. For perhaps the first time in months, her smile completely vanished from her face. Instead, there was only pure anger that remained, her eyes staring right ahead with a cold glare. There was an aura of danger that surrounded the woman at that moment, an aura that screamed violence, an aura that screamed... death. The Valkyries noticed it, but, being the beings that they are, they simply remained close to Joy still like the soulless dolls they truly were. Once they finally reached the ship, Joy simply entered the vessel and simply sheltered herself alone in her quarters. After she did so, she simply stood there, standing still in the middle of the room as parts of her hair shot up quietly. Her eyes shook with anger along with her fists, her whole body burning with deep hatred. Rage roared in her throat, wanting to claw out of her mouth... and eventually, it did. A loud, powerful cry of anger that was fortunately not loud enough to reach the docks. However, it was loud enough for the Valkyries to hear it, and Lilith was the first to answer the cry. Once she reached the Captain's quarters' door, she simply stared inside with her usual serious glare: "My leader, are you alright?" Strong, sharp pillars of black would then quickly shoot straight around Lilith, slamming themselves against the walls and the door of the room. Lilith did not react to this, instead simply staring at the room and noticing the damage that had been done. Her eyes kept their serious glare. She was not intimidated by what happened... but then again, neither would any of the other Valkyries. "Should we repair the damage that was done?" She would ask with a tone of voice that screamed faithful loyalty as Joy looked back towards her with clenched teeth. Joy's hair made her appear monstrous, unnatural as it clenched against her face and partly hide her rage-filled eyes. She remained still then, her eyes glaring over the damage, then took a deep breath. "Yes. Yes, you may, Lilith. Not now, however. I need... time. I need time to compose myself." "Very well." And so, Lilith would then leave Joy, closing the door as she went back to destroying her room with pure anger. The rest of the day and the night that followed was also composed of such cries of anger and of such destruction. Why yes... there will indeed by a lot of repairs to do once she is done.
