Name: Rust Island Shape: Diamond Weather: Extremely sunny Island Type: Summer General Description: From any perspective, Rust Island is an intimidating sight. Made almost entirely of a strange black rock, it seems extremely bleak. The rock is semi-translucent and shot through with red flecks, giving it a mystical appearance, and making the island look as scary as inanimate lumps of rock can. Due to the unique rock, it's surprisingly popular with tourists who come to see the sights, like the Blood Cliffs, cliffs that seems to run red with blood due to the higher concentration of red rock found here. However, the main tourist attraction is the large statue that is situated in the center of the island. The statue depicts an enormous warrior with a broadsword on his back, in full battle armour, and is made of the same black rock as the island itself. It stands over 8 feet tall, and the warrior is almost twice the size of any normal man. A curious fact about the statue is that it seems to predate any human presence on the island, and indeed the majority of human civilization. In addition to this the statue is seemingly unable to be damaged, as several adventurous tourists have attempted to chisel themselves a souvenir, but not a single person succeeded in making so much as a scratch on it's rocky surface. However, they persist, and every day the marines have to be called in to drag some frustrated tourist group off of the statue. However, tourist trips to the statue have recently been forbidden, and rumor has it that it is because the statue has been moving. A local farmer will tell anyone who'll listen, and many who won't, that he's sure he saw the statue step down of it's pedestal one night and walk off towards the Blood Cliffs. The marine presence on the island has erected several walls to stop people from seeing the statue, and will neither confirm nor deny the rumor that the statue has killed several marines. However, the marine presence has been recently reinforced, which would seem to indicate that there's a problem the current marine presence is not equipped to deal with. Locations: The only town on the island is Flagg town, a town of medium size and wealth, with a high concentration of shops in the center, with the majority of the population living in houses that cling to the fringes of the town. The townspeople are normally friendly, but dislike the tourists who are constantly swarming all over the island. Were it not for the money these tourists bring to the island, they'd never be tolerated. It is here that the islands ruler King Randall lives. |
