OoT 2D not running in a VM; OoT 2D crashes before running within a VM

I apologize if this is in the wrong place; I wasn't sure if it belonged here or in General Discussion, moderators feel free to move it if necessary.

I'm trying to run OoT 2D v.15.2 in a Virtual Machine running Windows 7 from a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X and I keep getting an error message no matter how I seem to configure it or what properties I administer. I get:

OoT 2D.exe has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Anyone else encountering this or were there any additional steps necessary to get it running on Windows 7 machines? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you all for your consideration and assistance.

Perhaps I need to install Direct X? Can anyone tell me if they have it running without Direct X? I want to avoid a unnecessary install, if possible. Direct X would be a little more challenging to remove completely than say, another regular program/application.

A holy being.
OoT 2D can be compiled natively for Linux/Mac, so there are no Direct X dependencies, to my knowledge. Have you tried running the MM 2D you found in the virtual machine?

Yes, I was able to run MM 2D fine under the virtual machine, no problem, just not OoT 2D. And strangely, I'm able to run MM 2D in a VM but not under a Mac Wineskin and I'm able to run OoT 2D under a Mac Wineskin but not in a VM.

If thats possible and the stuff about the take down is all sorted, can you also post macos and linux binaries please? That would be nicer than a windows exe for me. ;)
