I created this thread to discuss possible MC mods. Discussion on skype has been awkward because everyone wants different things and we are never all online at once.

The current idea is a MC mod would take the form of a "brigadepack" made by Runis. This would be a selection of the mods we choose. Any mod that supports minecraft forge could be included but it is easier if they are from FTB. Below I've made a list of the mods by FTB that have been discussed/suggested. So it is up to the brigade to choose a selection of these mods or other mods. There are more mods under the "mods" and "minor" mods tabs hereand dozens more not made by FTB exist. There is also information on all the listed mods on that site.

Not having any mods at all is an option.

I think we have already agreed we do not want mods that totally rebalance the game, are overpowered or cause excessive lag and that we don't want to restart the server. We want mods that add new features and depth to the game.

Everyone wants different types of mods so please try and compromise. Remember that you don't have to use the new features. Also note that not all of these mods are necessarily compatible.

Technical Mods:

Industrial Craft: Adds electricity. Build a power grid that power many different machines. Also includes rubber trees, new ores like tin and copper, new armour (like bronze). Most importantly it allows us to brew beer. The OP features like jetpacks and teleports could be removed.

Buildcraft: Adds mechanical machinery. Powered by engines.

Project Red: A rehash of the redpower which hasn't been updated since 1.4. It improves resdstone, adds redstone wires, logic gates, new lights and stuff like that. Also includes volcanoes and marble.

Railcraft: Improves minecart system to build better rails.

Bluepower: Another rehash of the defunct mod redpower. Bluepower includes marble and volcanoes, new machinery and the same upgrades to redstone along with new machinery.

Extra Biomes/Dimensions:

Twilight Forest: Adds a new dimensions with new biomes, mobs and blocks.

Tropicraft: Adds a tropical dimension

Biomes XL: Adds 28 new biomes with new trees and blocks

Biomes o plenty: Adds 80 new biomes and a new dimension "The Promised Land"

Better Dungeons: The map generates many different types of new dungeons with new loot, mobs, bosses etc

Underground Biomes: Creates geological features underground and lots of new stone blocks

Magic Mods:

Thaumcraft: Introduces magic. By channeling the power of "Vis" you can use many new enchantments, cast spells and create golems which perform tasks

Blood Magic: Cast spells by sacrificing mobs or your own Health to cast spells. Summon demons. Construct "rituals" (Like stone circles) which imbue magical powers.

Other Mods:

Carpenters Block: Allows for custom textures on blocks, stairs, trapdoors, doors etc etc

Forestry: Can breed new trees for their blocks, also includes beekeeping

Extra Bees: self explanatory and requires forestry

Tinkers Construct: Build custom-made weapons and tools. Also includes a new biome and mob.
