Raira was excited. And nervous, but mostly excited. The school finally opened, and soon, she would have a team. This is what made her nervous. She really didn't want a human team, and with a lot of humans at the school, her chances were not that great.

As soon as she got to campus she made a beeline to the fountain that she heard granted wishes. She wasn't very into superstition, but she supposed it wouldn't hurt. She grabbed a coin, turned around, and mumbled her team related wish. Hesitating because she knew she must have looked pretty silly, she took a deep breathe, closed her eyes, and threw the coin behind her.

When she opened her eyes she noticed someone had watched her do that. She blushed, and huffed,"What are ya staring at, hun?"

It was finally opening day. Jinx decided that he would finally make his way towards the campus- he was tired of staying at a hotel and twiddling his thumbs. Not that it wasn't a great chance for him to catch up on some reading- which there was plenty of, it was just stagnant. The world was full of chaos, something Jinx thrived on, despite his loner disposition. Which was what exactly was happening, he was sitting alone at a water fountain. Periodically people passed by, but he went on unnoticed. No one really would take a second glance at someone reading a book. Those kind of people tend to be boring. Jinx knew he could be boring. He had a one track mind in that sense.

But at the moment, he was reading. And as soon as he put his head from the book, he noticed that someone was tossing a coin into the fountain. He didn't think anyone still believed that fountains would grant wishes or dreams- that was childish. But what would one do about that? However, him taking a glance was caught by the female throwing the coin, causing her some discomfort, enough to confront him about it.

"Hmmm... I happened to be glancing up from my book and you happened to be there," Jinx replied in a-matter-of-fact like tone. It was as he saw it. He just glanced up. "Though, I never expected to see anyone actually tossing a coin into the fountain. Does it really work?" It would be interesting to question the beliefs of another- people always thought in interesting ways.

Raira crossed her arms, refusing to look at the human. "Fuck knows if it works, hun,"Raira all but growled,"But there's no harm in trying." She really needed all the help she could get. "If ya really wanna know, ya should go find one of the other people who tossed their coins in."

She refused to ask what he was reading. She wanted to, but she also didn't want there to be any confusion on where she stood in relation to all humans. Instead, she asked,"What? first day of school, and you're already studying? What a nerd~" Nevermind that she had been studying since she got to Lumiose. That was just a little detail, that Raira was perfectly willing to overlook for the moment.

"Honestly, you'd think that all the smart hunters would be exploring campus! I mean, it's huge, easy to get lost, and shit. Or are ya cocky enough to think ya won't get lost, hun?"

Now things were starting to get interesting. Jinx looked and gave his attention to the girl in front of him, now noticing that she was a Faunus, if somewhat scraggly looking. That didn't bother him much- he felt bad for what she had to deal with as one. But at the moment, she seem annoyed by his comment and question. "Well now, that's a very positive way to see it. Maybe I'll toss one in myself then." he replied, studying the female's appearance.

Jinx closed his book and fished for a coin in his pocket, putting it to his forehead and thinking of a wish before tossing it in. It wasn't anything big- he hoped that the young woman in front of him would do well and find good friends. He then tossed in the coin. After hearing the plunk! of the coin landing in the water, he smiled. It was a nice noise. "It's a pleasant sound, throwing in the coin." He then went to put the book away, having finished reading for the moment. The last time he put down his book in that sort of situation was with another Faunus. He seemed to be running into them a lot while reading. A definite interesting coincidence.

"If you do want to know..." Jinx replied, "I was actually just enjoying a new novel I picked up. I don't plan to study much... I've never been one to study." Which was true. Jinx didn't really like studying, nor did he need it. He always had a knack for remembering anything he read or looked at- photographic memory, or so he was told. "As for getting lost..." Jinx looked up back at the faunus, "I've already explored some of the campus and got bored. So I looked at the blueprints of the school via the library. I'm sure I can navigate the campus with little to no difficulty." He didn't mean to sound cocky. He just knew. That was all.

"Though, it seems that I've upset you somehow. I'm sorry if I've said or done anything insulting to you." Jinx replied soon after his rebuttal. He didn't understand what he did that was cause for her to be so hostile. Vocally, anyways.

"Uh, yea, I mean i guess some people could find it pleasant, I guess..."Raira mumbled, she wondered what he wished for. She shook her head, it was probably something dumb.

"You're still a huge ass nerd, hun. I mean who reads at a school for slaying monsters? Surely there are more interesting things to do. Like, training to slay monsters,"Raira said, even though part of her own duffel bag was stuffed with books to read later. This was another fact she willing to overlook for the moment. She awkwardly adjusted her bag so it was further behind her back, not like anyone could see what was in it anyway. She felt even sillier after remembering this.

How could anyone get bored of this campus? It was so huge, and beautiful. She wondered if all schools were like this, or if the faunus just had a miraculous stroke of luck. Raira could spend hours running around looking to find new spots. Secret spots. Pretty spots. Hiding spots. It was one of her favorite past times, besides reading, and training. Raira smirked up at him,"I'mma laugh at ya if ya get lost, hun. I hope ya know that."

The Dedenne snorted. She keeps hearing that recently from humans, like they really give a shit. "Like ya don't know what it was,"Raira sneered,"Of course ya wouldn't. In your own little world, aren't ya?"

Jinx put the book away into his satchel and stood up. He stretched out his back a little, having sat and hunched over for a long while- caused his body some discomfort. He then looked back at the faunus in front of him and walked up towards her, now several feet in front of her and looking straight at her face. He could see that she was cute in appearance, in a rough way. Somehow, her tough exterior had a story to tell now. He couldn't help but wonder what really had happened for such horrors to happen. The world of prejudice was still new to him. Somehow, he didn't think he'd ever get used to it.

Having listened to her bash him more with petty talk, Jinx grinned. Definitely a tough exterior and wary around humans. That was what most faunus had to deal with. Sometimes, Jinx wondered if being human was really a bad thing. "I truly don't know what I did to upset you. But if myself being a human is what has offended you, I do apologize for being this way. There's nothing I can do to remedy that, sadly." Jinx grabbed his satchel and placed it more comfortably at his side. A pendant slipped over the side, causing the young man to jerk so that he could hide it.

"But I'm sure I really did say something that upset you originally, or just my glance happened to be the offending reason," Jinx went on. He really was apologetic. His tone, however, never seemed that way. It wasn't his fault he seemed boring and monotonous in his way of speaking. Well... maybe it was. The young man then scratched his head, thinking about what she said about him being a nerd. It didn't bother him, really. It was more to the point that people kept pointing it out. Did he really seem that much of one? Maybe.

But getting lost really wasn't a problem for Jinx. He really did remember the campus's layout. It was all in his head, inside and out. But maybe he could humor the faunus in front of him. "Suppose I do get lost then, maybe you can explore the campus with me more to help me familiarize it? I'm no longer reading, so maybe you can help me."

Raira scowled when he grinned. What could possibly be amusing? Did she say something funny? She knew she had tried to be unfriendly, but she guessed it might have backfired.

"Honestly, hun,"Raira scolded, running a hand through her hair,"Do ya really need to please people so bad that you're willing to apologize for something that's out of your con- Hey what's that?" She watched as the boy hid the pendant away, with perked ears, and twitching antennae. The fact that he tried to cover it up, meant the faunus had to bug him about it. If the person hadn't been human, she probably would've tried to grab at it, but as it was, she was all bark and very little bite.

She ignored the rest of his attempted apology in favor of trying to figure out this mystery, after all, it could be good material to work with. Calling a person a nerd can only take one so far. It didn't even seem to faze him, which frustrated her to end. It was hard to come up with creative insults to throw at someone without knowing much about them.

Giving him an incredulous stare, before asking,"Ya seriously want to spend more time with me, hun?" A dry laugh escaped her lips, as she shrugged,"I won't stop ya, hun, but ya better be able to keep up. I feel no need to wait up for any plain-face,"With that she walked away from the fountain. She didn't know where she was heading, but that didn't stop her from moving with a purpose. There were hedges, and hedges, and more hedges. However, she didn't really see an easy way to lose a person. Unfortunate, as she was hoping for a laugh.

"So, hun, where are ya from?"Raira asked, after trying- and failing- to find something better to say. She couldn't think of anything insulting, but she didn't want there to be silence when she wasn't looking at him because she needed some way to keep track of the boy. What better way than hearing? Especially since she still was looking for a way to try and get him lost. It was her goal for the day.

Jinx readjusted his satchel so that it hung at his waist and secured it to his right leg. The pendant was no longer in sight and was safely secured in the bag. He couldn't help but curse to himself for letting it slip out so easily- he didn't like people seeing the pendant his mother had given him. It was the last momento he had of his village, and his mother especially. The fact that someone had seen it and was curious annoyed the young man- he didn't care to share about his past or anything relating to it. Not usually.

"It's nothing, don't worry about it..." Jinx replied quickly, trying to shrug it off as nothing. "I'm sure it was just a glint from one of the clasps on the bag." That was a proper response and explanation. She would have to accept that answer. There was no way he was going to tell her the real truth. Why should he?

"And yes, I would like to spend more time with you, 'hun'," the young man replied, smiling. He could change the subject to stray away her attention from his pendant. But why was he being so protective of it? It was a strange concept- he still couldn't understand it, but at the same time didn't exactly want to question it. He followed behind as a puppy would a new person of interest, but his steps weren't so eager, but rather more deliberate and precise. The faunus was walking around aimlessly, or so it seemed, with no clear destination in sight. That was fine. Wandering was always interesting. "I'm sure I can keep up," he retorted, grinning. It wasn't hard to follow behind people, even if they tried to make it difficult. Though, the hedges were certainly a surprising challenge. He didn't realize there were as many in the school as there were. Foliage never made it on the blueprints. An error in his thinking.

They were walking, but at least she was talking to him, he could follow the sound of her voice. In which, it made him stop momentarily. He flashed back to a memory of losing the sight of his mother on a walk they were taking, which he had to use the sound of her voice to find her again. Wow, had he been a crying mess. Shaking his head, he went back to following behind, but his pause caused for him to lose sight of the faunus. Why did that memory trigger? Jinx felt a pinch of sadness in his heart, as the memory brought back the feelings. He steeled himself, so not to sound too upset, but it was all a facade. A silly, sad facade. "I'm... from a village... not around this region. It's around Lily Cove, a coast city far from here." he kept walking, following the sounds of faint footsteps that were the faunus's- a sound he recognized from her. At least, in comparison from his younger self, he could find other ways to find who he was with. "What about yourself..?"

Raira rolled her eyes, not believing him for a moment."Suuuuure, hun. It was tooootally just a clasp on your bag, and I have some marsh land in Pastoria to sell ya," She responded. She would find out. She's not a feline faunus, so surely she could get away with a bit of curiosity without dying.

"Tell all the lies ya want, hun, but just know that makes me even more determined to find the truth. So ya might as well spill,"She added as one last attempt to get him to talk about it, before she tries for more devious methods. If she could lose him, then she might be able to double back, and get into his bag or something. Finding a way to distract him might work too.

Wondering why he would want to spend more time with her, she shrugged, and stated,"Your funeral." She really needed to get back on her game. Humans weren't supposed to be wanting to hang out with her. Nerd doesn't work, and it's pretty pathetic anyway. The slur she threw didn't even seem to pass his radar.

When he answered her she muttered crap, and looked behind her. She had lost him, and then ruined it. She continued walking her path. Maybe if she's quiet, she can sneak away from him, and by the time he gets here, shell be long gone.

"I know where Lily Cove is, hun. I may have not have had much of an official schooling, but I'm still smart, and I know geography!...Sorta..."

Or she could do that. That works too.

She smacked her face with her hand, and wondered why she couldn't have just stayed quiet. She didn't have to answer him. She could have- no, should have left him waiting. Yet she couldn't seem to shut up. Sighing, she answered his question,"Oh, uh, Ecruteak...Johto... With the towers..."She like the towers, even though her favorite one was all but abandoned and was home to the occasional Grimm. Thinking back, she considered that it might actually be because it was abandoned, and destroyed. She always found it familiar and comforting. She used to hide from humans there, and read. It was the one thing she wished she could see again, but no way in hell was she going back to her home town.

Raising an eyebrow, Jinx scoffed to hide his laugh. It was interesting tagging along with this faunus. He liked that she was straightforward with how she spoke to him, even if she didn't care for the fact that he was human. It was an experience worth writing home about, that was for sure.

If there was a home to write back to...

Jinx grinned in order to hold back his laugh, but then replied, "I'm not sure marshlands would be ideal for me at the moment- I practice smithing, and humid is not my cup of tea." He knew she was being sarcastic, but it was fun to play along, nonetheless. When was he this humored with someone? Usually people left him alone, or when they talked with him, he would bore them. He was having fun talking with this faunus. It would be a shame when they would leave for their separate paths. She did keep poking at what she had seen, but Jinx wasn't sure he was ready to tell someone about it. It was just a trinket... wasn't it? Maybe he could tell her...

"Well..." he began, "I mean... It's just a trinket... Sorry I lied." The words came out, just like that. He wasn't sure why he even just blurt it out. Maybe it was because he didn't feel like being pestered about it. Or was he feeling guilty for lying? That was something he would have to think about later.

He heard her comment that following her was gonna be his funeral, which depressingly didn't sound too bad. Too bad Jinx had a mission of revenge at the back of his mind. That, could stay quiet. But at least he had someone to accompany. It seemed weird to him that he was excited about that fact. Luckily, the faunus kept talking back to him, which allowed the young man to find his female acquaintance once again, spotting her tail slip behind a hedge a little ways up. Jinx quickened his pace so to catch up, listening to the faunus's replies. "I've heard of Ecruteak Town, supposedly it is quite beautiful, but also surrounded by Grimm." he found her tail once again and jumped towards it, almost cat like. He was glad to have caught up. "I don't doubt your smarts at all, though. It would be near impossible to get into this academy without quite a bit of it."

"So... I'm still caught up, I think. Where to next?" He put his hands on his hips with a sassy attitude, almost laughing at himself for doing something so idiotic. What was it with this faunus that he did things out of his nature?
