Raira couldn't help but grin at the human's response. When she realized what she doing she forced the grin off her face. Stop that, Raira, the Dedenne thought to herself, He's not amusing. What was with this human? She realized she was starting to lower her guard. No more. She wouldn't let him get the best of her. Her face contorted to a snarl. She hoped she could keep it that way. "Must be pretty embarrassing if ya lied about it, hun,"Stated the faunus, trying to mask curiosity with a grumpy tone,"Let me guess, an old girlfriend gave it to ya? Can't get over her? Pretty pathetic if ya ask me." It was all assumption, but she felt she's been too nice. There was only one way to fix that. Raira scoffed, it was becoming easier to sound unpleasant when the conversation was directed at her hometown. "It's a hell hole, hun. The only good thing about it was the Brass Tower. Other than that everything, and everyone there is pretty much shit. It's not what they say in brochures, trust me, hun." She jumped when she turned around, and he was right there. How'd he get there so fast? The faunus guessed she must have been lost in her thoughts. She leveled a glare at him. The glare started to falter when he spoke next. Fuck him, and his attitude. Can't he see, she's trying to be angry? Why was he making it so difficult. She huffed and started walking away. "Ya almost got lost, hun,"She pointed out,"Ya had to follow my voice back. I noticed. Anyway, I'm going this way, unless ya have a better idea." She didn't understand why she was still hanging out with this human, but she convinced herself that it was to find something to say to him that he wouldn't shake off as easily as her past comments were. |

The calm tones turned hostile once more, which made Jinx wonder what he had done. Did he say something wrong again? And why did he even care? He was just following the faunus around. Then again, why was he even following her? Even if he were bored, he would just retreat back to his books. That was his usual route. So what made this time different? Jinx frowned slightly at the harsh tones, but decided he wouldn't let it bother him. Why should it? She did nothing to give him reason for hostility. Maybe showing her the pendant would make the faunus stop with the hostilities. Sighing, he pulled it out and opened up the clasp. The pendant opened up and revealed a photo of his mother and himself, smiling and happy. Tears could be felt swelling up from the memories of his mother, but he didn't let them reveal themselves. Crying had a time and place. This wasn't it. "This is a pendant with a photo of my mother, thank you very much..." Jinx finally answered solemnly. If the faunus wanted to make him upset, she had succeeded, that was for sure. But he wouldn't give her that satisfaction. "It's the last momento I have of her, and of my village in general." He put the pendant away after glancing at it and looked back at the faunus. He could tell that she looked agitated. The way she talked about her town made it seem as if it was associated with bad memories. What happened? Her current appearance... was it because of the humans, her own neighbors? Her own townspeople? Jinx was still learning about the prejudices of the outside world- it was worse than he thought. What kind of hell did every faunus live with? There was so much he wanted to say, but all that came out were two words. "I'm sorry..." He felt guilty. He had nothing to do with it, yet he felt responsible. As if he were at fault for being human. Humans were despicable. He knew what it was like. But at least he could blend in. She couldn't. That made all the difference. A huge difference, at that. Some things couldn't be taken back. What happened to her she would have to live with forever. What a shitty world. Jinx kept following along, but not feeling as cheery as he was before. But he wanted to continue tagging along. She led the way, he followed. He really was a lost puppy. Jinx just shook his head and shrugged. "You got me, I almost got lost. Thank you for talking with me, I would have been lost if it weren't for your voice." He really wasn't lost. But if she was silent, he would've had to search around for her. Not that it wouldn't have been hard. Just a hassle. He was glad she at least still talked with him. |

She spared a glance back at the boy, when he showed her the pendant. The people in the picture looked happy. Happier than most of the pictures of her family. She felt a stab of jealousy, but pushed it away quickly as he talked. The last momento? "Oh... So, uh, not an old flame then,"Raira stated, ears drooping slightly. She refused to look at the human, as she bit back an apology. This was what she was after this entire time, right? She won. Then why did she feel guilty for it. She never did when she did this with other humans. There was always a bit of satisfaction actually. Except this time. She wondered what happened to his mother, and his village. She figured that his mom was dead or MIA or something, and was instantly grateful that she still had both her parents. They might not get along that often, or anything, but they were there if she needed them. She was going to let it drop, but there was one question that she couldn't help to ask,"Why don't ya wear it? It obviously means something to ya."Her hand went up to Luxio fang her father gave her after her attack without her realizing it. She let herself fall silent for a bit. Raira looked back in confusion,"What're ya sorry for this time?" This human was too weird. Wasn't she the one who should be apologizing? Not that she would. Was he talking about where she grew up? That was ridiculous, but just in case. "Honestly, hun, it's not like ya decided where I'd grow up,"The dedenne scoffed,"If that's why you're apologizing, then shut it, k? Cuz that's in the past, and I never have to go back." "You're right, ya would've, hun,"She agreed. She should've let him be lost. She cursed her mouth in her mind. Maybe one day she would learn. This wasn't much fun anymore. She couldn't screw with the human anymore because now she feels guilty, and their conversations turned too serious for the young fairy. She thought about trying to be nice, after all, he didn't seem like he had anything up his sleeve. However, she brushed that thought away as quickly as it came. Humans can't be trusted. They're assholes, and murderers. He probably wasn't different from the rest, even if he acted decent. She didn't want to leave the human on that note for some reason, though, so she kept walking. She hadn't even been paying attention to where she was going. Looking around, she realized she didn't know where they were. She couldn't help but to break out laughing at the irony. |

He couldn't help but notice that the faunus in from of him felt guilty for poking at his pendant and photo. That wasn't his intention- but somehow, that was what had happened. Jinx kept following behind as if he didn't notice... perhaps she wanted to keep her facade. The young man would give her that much, in the least. It still saddened him to know that he was the last member of his village to have survived the massacre. But at the same time, he was glad... glad that he was still alive. Someone would remember them all. Him. As he pondered the remnants of his village, he couldn't help but notice the question that the faunus had presented him with- why didn't he wear it? It was an odd thing... to have a necklace pendant carrying precious memories, yet to keep it hidden away, it was as if he was hiding it. Hiding the pain. Maybe he should wear the pendant though. Jinx wondered whether he could handle the burden of it. "You... you've got a point," he then replied, fingering the pendant in his bag again. "I'm not sure why I don't wear it..." he lied, "sometimes... it hurts to remember... ya know?" He picked up the pendant and placed it around his neck. The cool metal touched his skin, and as it settled on his neck, there was a weight on his shoulders. Somehow, he wasn't sure he liked the feeling. There was one feeling he knew for sure, having put on the necklace. It was comforting to know that his mother was possibly with him. Following along, Jinx let the Dedene disregard his apology- but he still felt sorry. No one should be bullied as she was- especially with the trauma she faced. It was never fair. Never. Regardless, he kept following along and couldn't help but notice that the faunus seemed lost. He grinned, seeing that she was the one to get lost- despite trying to lose him. "So, are we lost now? That would be terrible to be lost at this school." It had a little bit of a bite to it, but it was still comical. They were lost. Or rather, she was. He could only wonder how the faunus was going to reply. |

Raira bit back a snort. He was funny."Of course I'm not lost!"She replied, crossing her arms,"And even if I was, this was the point of exploring today, so we don't get lost tomorrow." She looked around, and pointed in a direction that wasn't near the any buildings. "I'm going that way,"She stated,"I assume you'll follow?" Why did she make it a question? Shaking her head, she decided that it was simply because she didn't want to let him get the jump on her. She glanced behind her at the human, to see him wearing the pendant, before walking off. "I-It looks good on ya,"The Dedenne informed, refusing to look at the boy. He was supposed to be her enemy, why did she complement him? Her ears flattened slightly. She tried to come up with something to say. Something to make it less of a compliment. "I-I mean...As good as anything could look on ya,"She added, a light blush dusted her cheeks. She was glad she was leading the way at the moment, so that her face was hidden from him."Not that I'm paying attention." A few more minutes of not seeing anything familiar, she sighed. Spinning on her heels, she said,"Ya said ya knew this place well? Then prove it! I'm testing ya~"Smirking, she pointed at him,"Ya aren't all talk are ya?" |

Still with the facade. Jinx laughed and continued to follow the faunus, fully aware of where they were. Somehow, they had wandered into the outskirts of the courtyard, deeper into the school, but next to a seemly dark corner. The area seemed pretty quiet and left alone- he would take note that reading in this location would be nice, granted, if more light was available. That could always be remedied. She started making off towards a more open area and he followed along as a puppy would their owner. Jinx was well entertained hanging out with this faunus, who seemed adamant that all humans were enemies. Granted, they could be, but he didn't see himself as one. "You are right, we are exploring," the young man replied, "I will follow, wherever you shall lead, mi'lady" he added cheesily, almost including in a bow. The path they were going looked familiar to the blueprints that he had looked at earlier, and continued to glance around. She was right- the school was beautiful. Did it seem to look differently now that he was exploring the grounds with someone else? Perhaps- Jinx had been alone for quite some time. There was always quite a difference. Looking back at the faunus, he noticed that she had glanced at him, only to walk off just as suddenly. He smiled, wondering if she was checking if he was still there. He would have wanted to walk alongside the faunus, but he was afraid of overstepping boundaries. Since when did that matter? When she complimented him, he smiled, cheeks burning slightly. Did it really look alright on him? It had been ages since he wore it. The events really scarred his memories. He thought back to how his mother was, her warm voice, the heat of the village from all the smithy... It was a great memory to hold. His train of thought was broken when the faunus tried to fix her statement, making it seems as if her compliment was simply a general comment. It was cute, really. Wait... was he thinking how cute she was? Jinx looked back at his pendant and hardly realized that the Dedene had stopped walking and turned around. When he looked up, he was face to face with her. There was a smirk on her face, followed by a command that he lead the way. Jinx took a step back, so that he wasn't so close to her, and then smiled. "Gladly." he replied. Looking around, he noticed that they were now close to where they had originally met, by the fountains. Granted, it was also blocked off by several hedges and walls. It wouldn't seem that way at first to anyone. Closing his eyes, he created a mental path to follow, and started walking ahead. Before going off too far, he turned around, smiling, with a hand offered. "Shall we?" |

Raira's face turned pink again, only this time she didn't have the luxury of leading the way to hide it. Scrunching her nose, she caught up to him, and took his hand. "Do ya know how lame ya seem right now?"She asked, refusing to look anywhere but straight ahead. She didn't want to focus on the feel of his hand on hers, but that's what her mind kept going back to. She glared at the path ahead of them like it had anything to do with the human beside her. "Honestly! Pretending to be gentlemanly is ridiculous,"She ranted. Her free hand made wild meaningless gestures. "After all, Chivalry is dead. Don't try and revive it. It just make ya look like a fool, and dumb, and stupid. Zombie Chivalry is no good. And just...Whatever..."She gave up when she realized how ridiculous she sounded. She gave a frustrated sigh. She sounded like a babbling idiot. She blamed it on the human. It must be his semblance or something. That had to be it. She's normally so much better than she was acting. She glared harder. She just had to put her guard up higher around him. Something about that though made her heart sink. Semblance, she reminded herself. Never mind that it didn't make any sense. It was the only answer. It had to be. She kept repeating that to herself. She stumbled over a rock, before catching herself. Swearing under her breath, she glanced up to see if the human caught that. She didn't know if it was possible for him to miss it, but she could hope. She wondered why she even cared. "Are ya sure ya know where you're going, hun?"She asked after a bit,"I think ya might be getting us more lost. If that's possible..."Her eyes widened,"I mean lost. You're gonna get us lost! I knew where we were before, of course~" A nervous laugh escaped her mouth. She wondered if she should just cut her losses and run away now. She may get even more lost, but it would still save her further embarrassment. She decided to stay a little longer. She wouldn't know which way to go at all. |
