How had she found her?
Chloe crouched down when she saw the black labrador she'd rescued a few days ago come across the courtyard, already knowing where Chloe was.
She wasn't still sure if dogs were allowed here, she'd have to ask the school staff. But for now she figured it couldn't hurt to at least spend some time with her.

"Hey, girl." she crouched down when the dog had reached her, letting her put her paws on her knees.
"You came all the way over here? Did you sneak onto the airship or something?" she chuckled and rubbed the dog's neck and ears.
The lab barked and licked her hands and face, tail wagging excitedly.

"You know I don't think you can stay in the school. But I think you can stay close by. Are you hungry?"
Another bark and Chloe grinned, picking up a sandwich from her little bag. It was her lunch but she figured the dog needed it more, handing it over.
"It's got roastbeef and salt. Dig in."

The dog happily did. While she ate Chloe sat down on a bench nearby. The dog had no collar and was thinner than a lab should be, so she figured she didn't have an owner. Or the owner had kicked her out.
But she should still get a name.

"Lucy." she muttered. The dog looked up and barked.
"What? You like that name?"
Another bark.
"Alright then. Lucy it is. Now eat your sandwich. You're so thin." she brushed the black fur gently and Lucy went back to eating.

After she was done, Chloe decided to try something.
"Sit."
Lucy sat down immediately, one paw on Chloe's knee.

"Okay, lay down."

It was impressive how obedient the dog was. Was she just that grateful or did she just like Chloe well enough?

Chloe stood up, smiling. "Okay up!" she said and her smile widened when Lucy hopped up on her hind legs, resting her paws on Chloe's shoulders.
"Good girl!" Whatever the outcome was when she asked about dogs in the dorms, she'd at least make sure Lucy got somewhere safe and nice to stay. She deserved that.

"Who's dog is that?" some stranger's voice (possibly a student) asked. He looked like an older student and kinda menacing.
"She's mine." Chloe said, sitting back down and letting Lucy snuggle up next to her. Quite honestly Lucy reminded her of the old dog they had back home that she and Blanche had found years ago.

"They're not allowed here." he said, not appearing happy about it at all.
"We're not even inside. She's not gonna harm anyone."
"Doesn't matter." he tried to grab the dog but Lucy barked and moved away, not happy with being grabbed.

"Come on, you stupid dog."
"Cut it out!"

It had been a stroke of luck, really. He had been lazing around, pencil between his lips and sketchbook on his lap, boredly looking at the people that passed him, pencil wiggling up and down as he moved his lips. Again, he had seen the Zorua faunus come by, again he had given him a light wave in greeting. Too lazy to move from the place he was sitting at. And in the end, he had to admit he was grateful for the spot he had chosen. Granted, it was not as peaceful as he wished it to be. But for now it would do.

And he had entertainment. Not far from him stood a girl and her canine. Or he assumed it was hers... At second glance, the canine was too thin to belong to someone. But still well-behaved, weren't they? That in whole was a good thing. Atleast it didn't try to snap at the girl. Instead being quite happy with her attention. It caused a smile to twitch at his lips before he grasped the pencil and let it fly over the blank paper of his sketch book.

They moved, of course they did. But he got the basics down. He could work from there on by inspecting her facial features and the canine's.

All went well for a while, atleast. Until someone decided to hop on in, causing his brows to furrow. He watched for a few more seconds before finally stuffing his sketchbook in his bag, along with his eraser and pencil as he moved up, making his way to the little group.

The moment the guy had tried to grasp the scruff of the canine once more, Nicholas shot forward in a burst of speed, snatching the other's wrist and tightening his grip, a bright smile on his face. "I believe the lady asked you to cut it out. What's your problem. Leave them be for now. If the school's gotta problem with the dog. They'll come out and say it themselves. No need to play judge."

The punk grunted at the sudden grip on his wrist. "Lemme go, this ain't your business." he growled, only to get bitten in the butt by Lucy. The loud shriek made Chloe chuckle, although she quickly killed it and watched the two.

"Good girl." she smiled at the lab, rubbing her ears again before looking back at the asshole.
"Lucy's not hurting anyone unless they deserve it. I'll take it up with the school board if there's a problem with her being here. I don't think I'll be allowed to keep her in the dorms anyway so I'm not gonna act like I am." she smiled to the guy who'd intervened.

"Just leave us alone, she's just a little dog."

He gave the dog a stern glance when she bit the teen, shaking his head lightly. "No biting. I know he's bein' an ass. But no biting. That'll make it worse." he commented, finally shoving the teen away and straightening himself, brows furrowed together in a scowl.

"You heard her. She'll deal with it herself. There's no need to be all tough and mighty and throw the dog out yourself, alright." he commented simply, raising an eyebrow before gesturing forward. "Now scram." he growled, lips pursing. He remained at the spot he had stood at, in front of the dog and the girl, eyes fixed on the teen before them and one eyebrow raising.

Eventually the guy left and Chloe sighed, sitting back down and brushing Lucy's back. "What a brat." she muttered. That had been so unnecessary. Lucy was a harmless little dog. She'd be fine.
"You're a good girl, you won't bother anybody." she said and smiled before looking at the redhead that had come to their "rescue".

"Thanks." she said. Although she COULD'VE taken care of this herself. Oh well. Some other time if someone decided to be a dick.
"I'm Chloe, by the way. Nice to meet you."

The red-head gave a huff, watching the teen go and narrowing his eyes a bit before finally he turned around to face the girl and the dog. The dog seemed fine, the girl seemed pleased. All was well, if you'd ask him. Of course, there was still the matter of whether this dog was allowed to stay around. But that would be dealt with in time. There was no need to shove it in someone's face and try to take away the canine. Letting a smile curl around his lips, he gave a slight shrug.

"You seemed like you could deal with it. I just didn't like the looks of that guy. He didn't need to do that." he commented simply, stuffing his hands in his pockets with a light smile.

"The name's Nicholas, but feel free to call me Nick. Or Nicky."

"Yeah I really don't get why some random stranger felt the need to get in my face about something I'll deal with myself." Chloe shrugged. "Oh well he's gone now anyway. Doesn't matter."

She looked down at Lucy, who just watched the two, sitting all obediently like she'd been raised for obedience. It made Chloe wonder if Lucy really was a street dog or if someone had dumped her somewhere.

"He better stay gone." snorted Nicholas, glaring in the direction where the teen had gone to before stuffing his hands in his pockets and shrugging once. "Even if he comes back, though. I'm pretty certain you'll show him you're not to be messed with, ain't I right?" he spoke with a wide grin, glancing over at her before looking down at the dog that sat down.

"She's really obedient, isn't she? I wonder what happened to her owners... Did she outgrew her puppy stage? Or did something bad happen to them." he pondered, crouching down in front of the dog and letting her sniff his hand before he stroked over her ears.
