He tilted his head a bit, giving her a glance before his lips curled up into a comforting smile, eyes glistening up. "Thank you. I'm sure you will too, however." he commented, snickering softly. "You seem like a nice girl. I wouldn't be too worried about it. Trust me, once you got your team together... I'm sure things'll work out one way or another!" he stated, putting a hand to his hip before blinking and letting his brows furrow for a second as he seemed to remember something. "I totally didn't introduce myself. I'm sorry." he uttered, looking back at her, moving his hand up a bit before deciding against it. She hadn't seemed too comfortable with touch. Instead he moved to the top of his head, giving a two-fingered salute. "Name's Nicholas, darling! But feel free to name me Nick or Nicky too." |

Blanche watched him curiously. Was he laughing at her? That didn't seem to fit. He had been so nice up until now. Had she been right? Was he secretly really mean, and all of the niceness was just a facade to get people to talk to him? Or maybe he had been thinking of something else? He did seem pretty spacey. Or maybe the idea that things would work out was really laughable, even for a nice person. Blanche wasn't sure. But he had been really considerate about the touching thing. So he probably wasn't a bad person. And he wore combat goggles, so he had to be a good person. She wasn't sure that logic followed, but it made her feel better. Blanche decided to roll with it. "I-it's nice to... Um... Blanche. I'm Blanche." She said sheepishly as she offered her hand. It was going to be fine. She had done this before. He wasn't going to tear it off. It was fine. |

"Blanche." he repeated after her, eyes widening a bit before he gently took her offering hand, giving it a light shake and dipping his head down. "It is a pleasure to know of such a beautiful name as yours, Blanche. Wear it proudly!" he stated, lips curving up in a big smile before he sneaked out a quick yet chaste kiss on the back of her hand, afterward letting go. "I'm probably holding you up, though." he commented, looking over his shoulder. "There's a lot of places you can explore! And a lot of people to meet. It's curious to see everyone and wonder who might end up being on your team, to be honest." he stated, tilting his head a bit before looking back at her. He would have to remind himself that on a later date, if he'd find her again, he would like to sketch her face. |

Everyone she had met in this city seemed to find her name odd in some way. Blanche wasn't sure she understood. Hers was a Kalosian name. Lumiose was a Kalosian city. In Johto it had been uncommon, but she had been given to understand that it was a common name in Kalos. So why on earth would everyone find it so odd? Or... beautiful. Had she heard that right? Beautiful? Blanche had never considered her name to be beautiful. All consonants and harsh letters. With her aviation helmet and goggles in place she couldn't hide behind her face the way she usually did, so she did the next best thing. Blanche covered her face in her hands to hide the sudden heat in her cheeks. She chanced peeked through her fingers a bright smile. He was a weird guy, but he was nice. Blanche was pretty sure she was okay with that. "I... um... I wouldn't m-m-mind c-company." she offered. |

A bright smile curled around his lips for a second before he dipped down his head in a respectful manner, choosing for now to ignore the way her cheeks had started to turn red. Though he had to admit, that was quite a spectacle to behold. She was shy, incredibly so. But above all that, she seemed very kind also. No, Nicholas was certain that whoever came on her team would have a splendid person fighting side by side with her... Or him. After all, one should never judge a book by its cover. Just because she was this shy and soft-spoken, meant not she couldn't fight. She didn't get to the Kalos Academy by sheer luck only, now did she? Taking in a deep breath, he blinked before glancing back at her as she stated she wouldn't mind the company. "Well then." he grinned widely, eyes glistening up as he gave a bow. "May I accompany you for the coming hour, mademoiselle Blanche?~" |

Blanche let her hands drop, revealing her slightly crooked smile. "I would like that, Monsieur Nicholas." It had been a long time since she had needed to speak the language, and she was sure her pronunciation was all kinds of rusty. She wrung her hands awkwardly for a moment, before settling on shoving them into her pockets. It was probably her turn to initiate the conversation. After all, she had been the one who asked him to stay. Quickly she ran through what little she knew about small talk for a safe topic to choose. Hello, how are you, what is your name, how bout that weather. She was pretty sure they had done all of those already. Out of nowhere, a bolt of inspiration struck. She tried to keep her voice even as she asked, "Where are you f-from?" |

"Has it been a while since you spoke the language?" he questioned curiously, walking along with her and tipping his head a tad bit to the side, eyes fixed on the other, only to bite back a light grin at the contemplative look on her face, as if she was thinking about something. Perhaps a way for her to start the conversation? It was a possibility. She seemed a bit more at ease with him. And the sentence she had spoken first, had been said with no stammer. "Where I am from?" he asked, giving a soft humming noise as he put his hands behind his back, gazing up at the sky for a second. "Well, if you mean where I was born. Then it was Kiloude City. Heavily guarded, I'll tell ya that. My dad works there. Got this big company and such.." he spoke, trailing off with a shrug. "Mother and the rest of the family decided to set foot in Santalune City for our protection when we were younger. I think I was... Six.. Seven at most. The place is beautiful though! It's surrounded by water, sort of. And a maze behind the place. And we got--" he snapped his mouth shut when he realized he was rattling on, as ever. "Anyway... It's a good place to live at. How about you?" |

Blanche let out a nervous laugh. So he had noticed. "N-not since I was little." she admitted sheepishly. Her grandparents only spoke in their native tongue when they were angry with her, which was admittedly a good portion of the time she had lived with them. He lived somewhere where he was heavily guarded? That made him sound more like a sheltered princess than a hunter. She wondered what company his father worked for, and if it would be rude to ask. Perhaps their families had run in the same circles at one point or another. His house sounded beautiful. "Ah... I used to live in Kalos, when I was really young. I don't remember it too well." she explained, "But th-then I m-m-m-hooved to Olivine with my grandparents. Grandfather wasn't the f-fountain type, but we had a t-training course in the back yard." |

"I guessed so." he hummed softly, eyes softening a bit as he looked ahead again, listening quietly to her as she spoke about Kalos, stating she had lived there when she had been younger, however she moved toward Olivine. Hmm... Close to the sea. It was always a bit dangerous closeby sea, wasn't it? If one kept in mind the water Grimm. Then again, he supposed Olivine was guarded well by Huntsmen and the like. "That sounds like something nice. I saw my grandparents whenever our family had reunions. Granted, that was a lot of times. Well, not as much as I'd like... But enough times." he laughed softly, eyes glistening up before he slowly leaned in to her a bit, a cheeky smile curling around his lips. "I may have grown up a tad bit sheltered. But I always knew how to get into trouble. And from young's on, I trained myself to become stronger. When my father noticed he could not sway my feelings about becoming a Hunter, he decided he would put his attention to my sister and younger brother." he spoke, shrugging a bit. "He gave me the option to join an Academy. I took it." |

Blanche made a soft noncommittal noise, her expression suddenly somber. To disagree would be disrespectful, and she couldn't do that. Not after they had taken her in when no one else would. It had been difficult, trying to live up to her grandfather's standards. More difficult knowing she never measured up. But it hadn't been all bad. Had it been nice? She couldn't say. It hadn't been the worst place to live, she supposed. There was a roof over her head and food when she did well, and there was Chloe. Her best friend had gotten her through the roughest patches, gave her that small taste of what it would have been like if she hadn't lost her parents. Perhaps this hadn't been the best topic to choose after all. "You have siblings?" she asked, "What's that like? I... I'm an only child, s-so..." |
