It hadn't taken long for Sabine to find a suitable tree after leaving her meeting with Benji, in a quiet corner of the courtyard with decent coverage so she couldn't be spotted easily. She stood by her decision to pull and all-nighter, getting as much practice in with her new bow as possible. The hunt for teammates was over and all she had to do was recover her energy.

Sabine pulled off her grey sweater and dropped it over her face as she found a comfortable upright spot, perched on a stable branch. She perhaps managed about a half hour of rest before she heard an annoying, persisting sound from below. The quail attempted to ignore it, sinking deeper into her neck and crossing her arms.

After a few minutes, she could no longer stand it. Ripping the sweater from her head and opening one eye below she asked grouchily, "Excuse me could you go and do that somewhere else?"

Cassidy had wandered around the courtyard for almost an hour, attempting to see all there was to see. There were so many people, and she had almost run into entirely too many of them. Unfortunately, it'd also been a full hour of dragging her stuff around, and her feet were starting to hurt. So she figured taking a small break under a tree would be particularly relaxing.

It wasn't long after she settled down that she popped in the dollar store earbuds attached to her scroll and started listening to music. To nobodies surprise, it was the opening theme to the Super Hunter Soldier Squad: Wild Dragon Force, a TV show about band of heroes in full body armor and masks that vanquished evil. Cassidy couldn't help herself and began singing along lightly in Unovan with the music, completely unaware that somebody was trying to sleep above her. She also didn't know that the show's original language was Hoenese, and the worst dub was rumored to be the Unovan one.

Even as the person was fussing at her, she still didn't hear and just kept on singing. She was totally in her happy place.

Tch. Was this person ignoring her? Good god, the people in Kalos were rude. Sabine swung herself down from the branch and gently landed on the ground behind the singing the dreadful tune. When the quail looked to the scroll, she was shocked to see to which the music was accompanying.

In the mountains of Hoenn, decent television reception wasn't introduced until she was in the early years of her teens. Even then they only got a couple of channels focusing on world news and documentaries but once her Dad returned home from one of his delivery trips to Fortree City with a VHS player and a few tapes. One such tape was an early run of three episodes of Super Hunter Soldier Squad which she watched over and over until she could recite the script in her sleep.

"Is that esu-hchi-esu-esu?" she asked, red head feather flicking in irritation as the theme faded into the episode, recapping the previous nail-biting cliffhanger. Sabine gave a grunt of disapproval, "What's wrong with the characters' voices?" Her childhood nostalgia was slowly being destroyed one unfitting Unovan word at a time.

Even if Cassidy was blissfully unaware of the others voice, the sudden vibrations upon her landing gave the bug pause. She hadn't expected anyone to be above her, or to cause such a buzz. She wasn't even singing that loud! She very slowly turned to look up at the person who had landed next to her. Female, most likely a faunus. Was that a feather?

Bird.

Cassidy's train of thought immediately derailed upon realizing that the girl who landed next to her was a bird and she shrieked instinctively, a high pitched comical noise. She jumped to her feet and immediately put several paces distance between her and the faunus girl, realizing that her phone, which was still playing the latest episode, was right in the middle of the two of them.

The ear buds had also fallen out. So the whole world could hear the horrible Unovan dub. Cassidy very slowly sneaked over to her phone and snagged it before stopping the episode. She considered just grabbing her things and running, but this girl... Likely didn't mean any harm. Upon further inspection, this girl was likely a Natu faunus. The literal worst kind of bird. It was like the universe had delivered Cassidy's greatest enemy straight to her doorstep. But instead of combating it like the hero she claimed herself to be, she very lightly waved, hands shaking.

"H-Hello!" She started, briefly remembering the question the girl had basically asked the air. "There's something wrong with the characters voices?... Isn't that how they've always been?" Cassidy questioned.

What a reaction. Sabine blinked with wide eyes a few times just to take it all in. The quail fell back onto her butt, crossing her legs in the uncomfortable way Westerners did, just because she didn't often have a chance depending on her attire. The girl had interesting mandibles sprouting from her head and was very tall and lean compared to herself.

"Hi," Sabine greeted in a slow, patronising way. She looked to the scroll where the picture could no longer be seen but the horrendous dub continued to play aloud. "Well, no," she corrected shortly, "It's a Hoennese show, so you should watch it the way it was intended to be even if that requires subtitles." A deep voice emitted from the show. "Ugh, who on Remnant..." Sabine leant forward to peer at the screen, red feather flicking back and forth, "Oh. Well see, he's supposed to have a higher pitched voice and he's called Kuro-kun in the original." The quail raised an expectant eyebrow to the other.

The tension in the air was thick, or at least Cassidy had imagined it to be so. She then realized that the holocaster was still playing the audio to the episode and she fumbled with it, quickly trying to turn it off to hide her growing embarrassment over the situation. While it was clear the bird in front of her didn't mean any physical harm, Cassidy's demeanor about the entire situation didn't really change. She noticed the girl had taken a seat, and upon the shocking realization that her show was not actually Unovan, she sat down with her legs crossed.

Still several paces from Sabine.

"Its... Not an Unovan show?" Cassidy hesitated to speak at all, "I... I didn't even have access to internet until I got here..." Cassidy made a face somewhat pantomiming despair as she hung her own head in shame. She was supposed to be a big fan and here she was not knowing basic facts, like, what country the show was made in.

Cassidy sighed lightly, and made a small effort to make eye contact with Sabine, "Uhm... Thank you. For telling me. I'll have to go look it up. Also, what's Pink called? In... The original version of the show?"

The entire ordeal was almost too much for her to take.

Sabine remained still, placing her hands over her knees and letting her head feather fold back onto her hair. Her jet blacks scanned wordlessly, weighing up the girl's mannerisms and emotions. Far too skittish for her team with Benji, even if she was a decent Hunter. She wondered if she was like this around everyone or if it was just her.

"It's alright," the quail sympathised when the other hung her head, "I don't even know how to get the internet on my scroll." She pattered her pocket where the rectangle shaped bulge was. When the girl seemed interested in asking questions about the Hoennese version of SHSS, Sabine was pleasantly impressed. Her favourite subject: anything from home. She really respected anyone who was interested in her culture.

"Pink?" she rubbed her chin, trying to figure out which character it would be. "Oh! Rosa is her name in the original! If I can figure out this, er, internet thing-ma-jig then we could have a SHSS marathon!" Sabine cleared her throat and exhaled when she realised she was getting a little too excited.

Cassidy's timidity almost vaporized entirely when the girl mentioned a marathon of her favorite show. Bird or not she had to be a decent person if she found the Super Hunters cool. Cassidy ignored the urge to stay where she was and attempted to scoot a little closer, a wide smile on her face. "I know how to get to the internet on my Caster! I played with it today and figured that out!" She chirped excitedly. She'd never actually watched the show with anyone, and was getting offered to watch a marathon!

"Rosa? I love Rosa! The way she uses her bow..." Cassidy stared off dreamily into space, snapping back into reality after after a few seconds. She now found herself much closer to Sabine and leaned away a bit, before realizing that what she was doing was likely rather confusing. "Ah! I'm.. I'm sorry. I'm not usually like this. Birds and Bird-type faunus tend to make me uncomfortable... But... I'd really like to watch it with you."

Cassidy fumbled with her caster and began looking up some actual information on the show, realizing that the girl was in fact correct. There was a stretch of time before she said something else, "What about you, what's your favorite character?" Her voice was steadier, but it was clear she was trying to actively suppress her nerves. She was going to talk to this bird about her favorite show or die trying.

"You'll have to show me how to get the internet on this thing," the quail sighed, stretching her spine to the side, creating enough room to slide her scroll out with her fingertips. It coincidentally played the default text message tone so loudly it made Sabine wince and hold a hand over her ear. "And maybe also how I can turn the sound level down or off."

She let out a chuckle when the other girl disappeared to her Super Hunter fairy land. Sabine wasn't actually a huge fan of Rosa because she used a western bow and not the Kyudo kind (which was what she would have been able to relate to when she actually watched the series).

Sabine tilted her head, red feather swishing in curiosity as if confused why the girl would bring up being uncomfortable around birds. "Oh, because I'm one?" the quail gestured to herself before letting out a snort at the ridiculousness of it, "Sorry, sometimes I forget I'm a bird faunus. I'm Sabine, by the way."

The quail rocked back on her tail bone, eye twitching as the feathers stuffed down the back of her pants pulled painfully against the restriction. "My favourite character..." she echoed in thought, rubbing her chin and looking off toward the cafeteria.

The sound level? Cassidy tilted her head to the side in confusion, almost incapable of believing there were people worse with technology than she was. Cassidy herself wasn't bad, but she couldn't fathom too many individuals being raised in her conditions. This girl however, this girl seemed to understand. She was also a bird, but she had no wings, and her demeanor was kind enough. Cassidy breathed a light sigh of relief.

"I think I'll be able to show you that." She said, her voice not quite steady yet. She stepped as close to Sabine as she could possibly stand which was much closer than the bug expected, and pointed to the volume button on the girls device. "That button, it has two notches. The upper button increases the volume, and the lower button decreases it. If you decrease it all the way, it'll set it to vibrate, and then to silent. And don't worry, it took me awhile to figure that out too." Cassidy giggled, a nervous and reassuring tenor reverberating through her laugh.

The girl had also introduced herself. Sabine. That was a nice name. "Cassidy." Cassidy hesitated once, and then reached her hand out for a handshake. If the quail didn't do anything funny during the handshake, she was probably okay. Probably.

Cassidy noticed that the girl didn't answer her question at all, and looked to where the girl was looking. That was... the cafeteria, wasn't it? Cassidy had passed through there a little earlier, although she didn't get anything to eat. "Are... you hungry?"
