As if on cue, several trees around the teens started to move, shifting as if they were...alive. Which they were. They were Grimm, in fact, and yes, the trees had been watching the two students this whole time. The Grimm opened their eyes one-by-one, the red glow indicating just how many Grimm there were: buttloads. Like, there were more Grimm than there were times that Kevin had fallen down stairs I mean what-- ANYWAY. The fact of the matter was, the kids were surrounded, there were eyes everywhere, and escaping seemed difficult to do at best. Several of the trees - stone or with levitating parts alike - swung their 'arms' at the same time, aiming to crush the kids in one fell swoop. |

So she wasn't being paranoid earlier, good to know. Raira readied her scythe, as she assessed the situation. Rock and grass? type grimm. Maybe the grass type had a secondary ghost typing judging by the floating bits, but she wasn't sure. Sudowoodo grimm, on the other hand, she was more than familiar with. Either way, her semblance wouldn't be much use against the unfamiliar ones. She jumped up when the grimm swung their arms, pressing one of the buttons on Oberon, a blast of air was forced out the end point to the ground to give her a bit more height. Aiming herself at the nearest Sudowoodo, she started swinging Oberon in large circular motions, intent to slice at anything coming at her. It was a good thing that most of her training involved her being outnumbered in a fight. |

Austin wasn't too shocked when he saw the tree-like grimm begin to move, though the numbers were a bit greater than he'd expected. Still, he remained smiley as ever, quickly jumping and rolling out of the way, Once he had come to a stop, standing on one knee, he held his rapier in front of him, the blade humming to life as he began to channel electric dust through the specially tempered metal, creating a tangible electrical current. He stood up, grinning, before pointing the blade at the nearest grimm, which looked like a Trevenant, if he remembered his tutoring correctly, and, with a wave of his hand, he began making use of his semblance, lashing out with the electrical current created by his weapon to strike at the grimm. It may not be the most effective mode of attack for these particular grimm, but it was the best way for him to do damage while keeping them at mid-range. |

The trees and fake trees alike creaked and groaned under the assault, largely undeterred, or maybe they were just slow and stupid. At any rate, they were sturdy, and it was evident the kids would have to do more than just simply brute force it if they wanted to take all these Grimm down. The Trevenant Grimm lashed out vines to capture and immobilize the students, while the Sudowoodo Grimm started to blast rocks at the kids to attack. Their numbers were great, yes, but their teamwork was not as spectacular. They knew how to work together, yes, but dumb as they were, they didn't know how to account for collateral damage, and some even ended up striking each other. |

Raira tried to avoid the rocks that she saw coming at her, as she ran towards one of the larger Sudowoodo. She could feel her semblance spark to life, and the current travel to and through Oberon. Electricity could be seen cracking around her cheeks, tail, and the metal of her weapon. She hadn't meant to do that. Oh well. She kept herself low to the ground as she ran. When she got close enough to the targeted Sudowoodo, she swung her scythe at it's legs. |

Austin did his best to avoid the vines being lashed at him, slashing at them with his rapier to try and ward off any that came too close. Discerning his electric attacks weren't doing much, Austin readied Amethyst Lightning, rushing at the closest Trevenant. Once he was close enough, a quick glance told him the best place to attack would be the eye. So, of course, he aimed for that, jumping up to get a good angle. Once the tip of Amethyst Lightning lined up with the monster's eye, he fired the pistol pointing directly away from the blade and thrust forward, hoping the augmented strike to the eye would do something worthwhile. |

Austin and Raira, speedy as they were, managed to evade the attacks, though they were not completely unscathed. A vine whacked Austin's side, and a rock grazed Raira. This did little to interrupt their plans, however. Austin had the correct idea, aiming for vital spots, and Raira likewise had the right idea trying to be a tree-tipper. Both attacks worked; the targeted Trevenant let out a ghastly wail, the ethereal gas dissolving and leaving the physical tree parts to crumble to the ground, and the Suowoodo fell over, knocking over a few of its brethren and finding it hard to get back up, if at all. A Trevenant Grimm whipped out a vine again, catching Austin by his ankle, another Trevenant Grimm wrapping a similarly gangly but sturdy vine around Raira's waist. Their grip on the students was tight and secure, and of course, it was up to Austin and Raira to rescue themselves. They had to do it for (the purpose of escaping from) the vine(s). Raira clenched her teeth as the rock grazed her, but she kept running. She'd have time to deal with what ever damage there was later. She felt Oberon hit the rock hard legs. Raira smirked when she heard her target fall, and create a domino effect. She loved those. She dug her heels into the ground, and skidded to a stop. Turning around she readied to strike at another opponent, but before she could even pick another target, she found herself being lifted into air by her waist by one of the Grimm she was unfamiliar with. Looking around, she noticed Austin in a similar situation. Before she freed herself, she couldn't help, but call out,"Hey Rich boy! Hang out here often?" With that, she decided not to waste any more time. Lifting her scythe above her head, she used one of Oberon's blades to cut through the vine that had her captured. |

Austin was quite satisfied when he saw that his assault had the desired effect. One grimm down, about… A lot to go. Austin was prepared to find another Trevenant and perform the same maneuver, when his ankle was suddenly constrained by a vine. Well, on the bright side, he knew which enemy he was going after next, now. He noticed Raira being hoisted into the air by another Trevenant, and was rather grateful that his, with only a grip on his ankle, hadn't managed to get him in the air yet. Upon hearing Raira's remark, Austin turned his head to her, grin still intact. "No, not really! It's a shame, too, the greenery is lovely!" As he said that, he fired one of Amethyst Lightning's side-pointing pistols, powering a slash to cut right through the vine holding his ankle. "It could use a bit of trimming, though!" |

Well, it looked like Austin and Raira were fine, fresh, fierce, and had things on lock. Freeing themselves was, apparently, a simple task, but the Grimm weren't done yet. The Trevenant lashed out vines again, but instead of attempting to restrain the students, they began to whip them around, unleashing a flurry of attacks upon the two beings with souls. The Sudowoodo, likewise, hurled rocks at the students again, just adding to the shitstorm of hazards. Both types of Grimm were caught in the crossfire, but few seemed to care much. |
