Launch Day - [LBRA] [Austin and Raira]

Pseudo Wood(o)s

The pair lands in a seemingly-ordinary section of forest where the sun barely shines through the leaves, nature crackles underfoot, and the trees...are pitch black. Upon further inspection, some appear to be made of stone. As it turns out, there are a sizeable number of trees here that are Sudowoodo and Trevenant Grimm, and they will gladly attack the duo if they happen to pass by. Tread carefully, students.

OOC: The GM for this thread is Clover. GM's will RP mook (weak) Grimm during combat, to get players used to working with a GM. The combat system will not be used for these first two threads. Please begin by RPing your landing strategy.

Have fun and happy Landing Day!

Raira was a blur of light. As she swung Oberon around herself quickly, trying to block the assault. They weren't even halfway done with their mission, and she was using too much electricity in her mind. Especially since a lot of it wasn't even focused in her attacks. She noticed that, lucky for the pair, the grimm were facing some friendly fire. However, she had a feeling that the hunters would still have to do most of the work.

Separating her weapon, she rushed towards a pair of Trevenant. Taking a page from her partner's book, she jumped when she was close enough, and tried to use the blade of each half to stab their eyes.

Austin almost seemed like he wasn't paying attention as he seemingly aimlessly rolled out of the way of an oncoming stone. Austin wasn't nearly as much of a flurry-attacking fighter as Raira appeared to be, so he lacked the means to block the assault as she was. Instead, he simply had to duck out of the way of the oncoming projectiles and whips, which he was sufficiently successful in doing.

Once he had a moment to breathe among the chaos of the onslaught, Austin re-activated the electric charge to Amethyst Lightning, using his semblance to take the the electricity and focus it into a sphere above his head. Once the orb of electricity was about the size of a beachball, he 'threw' it at a small group of Sudowoodo, and once it was near them, he dispersed the electricity, striking all of them. Hopefully the shock would serve to knock them off balance. After all, the rocks weren't resistant to his electricity, unlike the grass-types.

Austin somehow managed to dodge his way through the flurry of stones and vines, very much looking like he was popping and locking in the process. In fact, one could almost hear the hype music. Raira, however, might as well have had a heavy metal soundtrack, as she brutally ripped out the Trevenants' eyes. The blinded Grimm dissolved as soon as they hit the ground.

The trees were all too focused on Raira, the biggest ball of negative energy at the moment, to pay much attention to Austin, taking no notice of him until the electricity hit. The Sudowoodo froze as the lightning zapped through their bodies, and then they fell into other Sudowoodo and Trevenant, creating a domino effect. The attacks stopped, giving the young hunters some much-needed time to catch their breath. Some of the affected Sudowoodo began to dissipate into nothingness.

Raira turned around to see the tail end of the domino effect. Panting, she focused on getting her semblance back under control. The current faded until there was barely any sparks flickering around her, and then, it was gone. She checked her scroll again. Nodding she put if away. This was an opening she was going to take advantage of.

Turning to the human,"Let's go, hun, maybe we can get to the relics without any more incidents..." She ran off in the direction the scroll had told her. She didn't care if the human was following her, and yet she kept an ear open for his location. Just in case he was. She still hadn't forgotten their little dialogue from earlier, and she was not going to let her guard down around him any time soon.

Austin watched passively as Raira checked her scroll, paying little attention. The grimm seemed subdued, so that was good. He had noticed the stray sparks around the faunus before, and vaguely wondered if it could be of any use to him with his semblance in the future. As it was, though, he didn't have time to ponder. Not that he was prone to pondering if the first place, of course, so it wasn't much of an inconvenience when she called on him to get moving.

"Well, that would be nice, wouldn't it, miss mouse?" Austin smiled as he spoke, before following behind Raira at a short distance. Austin was fully willing to work with the faunus after all, just so long as she didn't step out of line. After all, he'd spent his whole life around faunus, though none of them had been this… Defiant. Oh well, no matter to him, so long as she got the job done!

"So, Minnie, do you happen to know what these relics even are? Cause it'd be a shame if we went right by them and didn't realize it!"

"No, Headmaster Sycamore, didn't pull me aside to give me additional details before shooting me up into the sky,"Raira retorted,"And don't call me mouse or minnie or whatever the fuck else you're think of." She slowed down just enough to get Austin in her periphery. Keeping an eye out for more Grimm or for the human, she breathed to try and calm herself.

"I did however, check my scroll, and it says we're nearby,"Raira confirmed,"Trust me, I won't miss it. I don't want to stay here with ya for any longer than I have to, hun." Oberon was back in it's carrier, but Raira still reached back to make sure it was there. She continued talking through this,"Although, if ya don't think I can navigate, feel free to try and do something productive, like check your own scroll~"

"Awww, but what else should I call you? Everyone needs a nickname, you know~!" Austin chuckled, keeping pace with Raira. His current demeanor was certainly contradictory to what it was when he had threatened Raira, but there was an underlying tone that made that contradiction seem almost fabricated. There was likely more to Austin than met the eye.

But there was little time to consider that now, though, as they were hopefully nearing their destination. "Oh, I trust you can navigate, squeaky!" Austin exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear. "But everyone's prone to error, y'know! I know I am! And I don't know you, so I don't know how much you mess up. I hope you prove that it isn't a lot!" That said, Austin pulled out his own scroll to see what info he could glean from it. Better safe than sorry, right? Luckily, it looked like Raira was right, and they were nearing the location of the relics.

"Hm… I wonder what they are," Austin said, more to himself than Raira. "Ooh! Do you think we'll get to keep them? That'd be great!"

Raira glared at her partner, saying,"I don't appreciate nicknames making fun of my species. And don't get comfortable with me as your partner. As soon as we get back to the school, I'm requesting a partner change. So perhaps we should just to each other's name, Austin." It didn't matter what the human's demeanor seemed at the time, she wouldn't trust him. Even as she walked, she made sure to keep an eye and an ear on him. There was no need for extra risks.

"Well, if they are actual relics, then I doubt it,"Raira pointed out,"Why would they keep giving out relics every year? Where would they get them? But...If they were little trinkets someone could pick up anywhere, then maybe." She doubted it, but the headmaster seemed out there enough to give away either. She sighed, maybe she should have tried for a lesser known school. Maybe she would've been able to request a faunus partner there.

"Gee, I don't think that requesting a new partner works, Raira! After all, I do think that I heard the professor say that whoever we met would be our partner for the next four years, no matter what!" Austin stated matter-of-factly, chuckling. "I just don't think the big cheese will really let you do that!"

"You know, I hope they're trinkets! Souvenirs are really cool!" Austin turned his attention back to his scroll, noting that they should be arriving at wherever the relics were shortly. Well, that was something to look forward to. Some progress instead of just the evil trees they'd been dealing with earlier. "Well, looks like we're getting close~!"
